The 20-year-old man accused of shooting Jets player Kris Boyd in NYC appeared before a judge on Tuesday ... with prosecutors claiming surveillance footage and cell phone records pin him to the scene of the crime.

Frederick Green was formally read his charges in connection with the Nov. 16 incident -- one count of attempted murder, one count of assault, and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon.

The judge granted prosecutors' request for remand ... meaning he'll remain in custody.

An arrest has been made in connection with the shooting of New York Jets player Kris Boyd ... a person of interest was taken into custody in Buffalo on Monday, TMZ Sports confirmed.

Law enforcement sources say a 20-year-old man was arrested in Western New York just hours ago ... and is currently on his way back to the Big Apple to face charges in the case.

NYPD and U.S. Marshals were both part of the apprehension.

The shooting of N.Y. Jets defensive back Kris Boyd appears to have been caught on video ... with the footage showing a group of men fighting in the streets before two gunshots ring out, leaving the 29-year-old in critical condition.

The clip was posted to social media Monday morning, and it shows just how chaotic the scene was around 2 AM on Sunday as the violent incident unfolded in the heart of New York City.

Moments later, gunshots are heard, sending both combatants and bystanders scurrying away from the scene. It's believed at least one of those shots struck Boyd in the abdomen.

The New York City Police Department has released images of the suspect wanted in the shooting of New York Jets defensive back Kris Boyd Sunday morning ... which left him fighting for his life in a hospital.

Cops are asking the public for help in tracking down the man who fled the scene after he allegedly shot Boyd in the gut while he was leaving a restaurant in the heart of Manhattan.

The suspect was last seen wearing a black cap, black sweatshirt, black pants, multi-colored sneakers and a black book bag.

According to police, the shooting happened around 2 AM on West 38th Street, only blocks from Times Square.

New York Jets cornerback Kris Boyd is clinging to life after being shot in New York City early Sunday.

The NYPD says the gunfire erupted around 2 AM just blocks from Times Square. When officers arrived, they found the 29-year-old cornerback collapsed on the sidewalk with a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

Paramedics rushed Boyd to the hospital, where he remains in critical condition, according to law enforcement.

The Jets acknowledged the incident, saying only ... "We are aware of the situation involving Kris Boyd and will have no further comment at this time."

Two of Nick Mangold's old Jets teammates are urging voters to put the ex-center into the Hall of Fame following his tragic death.

Santonio Holmes and Leon Washington -- who both shared the gridiron with Mangold for several years in New York -- told TMZ Sports on Wednesday the former offensive lineman is as deserving as anyone when it comes to busts in Canton.

In fact, Holmes said Mangold should be in "without a doubt" -- while Washington added there's "no question."

Tyreek Hill was rushed to the hospital on Monday night ... after he sustained a significant knee injury during the Dolphins' game against the Jets.

The gruesome scene unfolded in the third quarter of the "Monday Night Football" matchup ... after Hill caught a pass from Tua Tagovailoa.

As the receiver was being tackled out of bounds, he landed awkwardly on his leg -- and very clearly dislocated his knee in the process.
