Moments after the Hoosiers stunned the Hurricanes with a 27-21 win at Hard Rock Stadium on Monday night, Miami star Mark Fletcher Jr. sparked postgame chaos, directing a punch at Indiana defensive tackle Tyrique Tucker in a heated on-field confrontation that had staffers sprinting to intervene.

And here’s the crazy part -- Fletcher had just had the night of his life.

TMZ Sports has obtained the 911 call Sherrone Moore's wife made the day he lost his job as the University of Michigan's head football coach ... with the woman claiming he was attempting to kill himself.

Moore's wife, Kelli, is deeply emotional in the audio ... and asked officials if they could track his phone because she feared he would hurt himself.

When dispatch asked why, Kelli replied, "Because he said that to me ... he said he's trying to kill himself."

Officials asked for more information on the situation ... and she said she had no idea where he was.

"He just called me saying he got fired from his job, and he's in crisis. I told him that I love him and that I need him to come home, but I don't know where he is. He said he was on a highway."

Kelli then explained her husband was Sherrone Moore ... and yes, he was the head coach of the Michigan Wolverines.

Despite the circumstances surrounding Moore's situation at the time, Kelli made it clear she just wanted him home.

The University of Michigan has hired Utah's Kyle Whittingham to replace Sherrone Moore as head coach of their Wolverines football program after the disgraced coach was fired for having an "inappropriate relationship" with a female staffer.

The big announcement came out Friday evening, with UMich revealing they inked a 5-year contract with Whittingham, which will run through the 2030 season. Michigan athletic director Warde Manuel applauded the deal in a statement, gushing ... "Kyle brings not only a proven track record of success, but also a commitment to creating a program rooted in toughness, physicality, discipline and respect — where student-athletes and coaches represent the university with distinction both on and off the field."

Whittingham spent 21 seasons as head coach of the Utes, but was with the team for a whopping 32 seasons overall, first joining the coaching staff in 1994. He's Utah's all-time wins leader, finishing with a 177-88 record.

Sherrone Moore's actual mugshot, a week after a fake photo circulated around social media, has finally been released by authorities ... showing the former head coach at Michigan in a seemingly emotionless state.

The photo, snapped by the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office after he was arrested on home invasion, stalking, and breaking and entering charges, shows Moore, rockin' a black shirt, looking tired and detached.

The 39-year-old coach was taken into custody last Wednesday.
