Florida State University sophomore Conor McAneney, a kicker for the school's football team, was arrested early Wednesday morning in South Florida, where he posed for a mugshot ... and it looks like he went through a 12-round fight.

Fort Lauderdale police tell TMZ Sports that McAneney was arrested around 2:30 AM, taking him into custody after a "trespassing incident" near the popular Elbo Room Beach Bar ... where a minor incident that took a nasty turn, according to cops.

"While FLPD officers were attempting to detain McAneney, he became uncooperative and violent. He was arrested and charged with battery on a law enforcement officer, resisting with violence and trespassing."

Rex Culpepper -- a former Syracuse quarterback and the son of NFL player Brad Culpepper -- died over the weekend. He was just 28 years old.

According to local outlets, Culpepper passed away from injuries he sustained in a dirt bike accident in Georgia on Saturday.

Rex was a star athlete in high school ... becoming a top recruit at Plant. He went on to play at Syracuse as a quarterback and tight end ... throwing for over 1,500 yards and 11 touchdowns.

According to court docs we obtained, prosecutors filed the motion to dismiss in the case against the Tennessee Titans' 2024 second-round draft pick ... saying they cannot prove beyond a reasonable doubt the "element of intoxication."

Lou Holtz, one of the most accomplished college football coaches of all time, has passed away at the age of 89.

"Louis Leo 'Lou' Holtz, legendary college football coach, Hall of Famer, bestselling author, and one of America’s most influential motivational voices, has passed away at the age of 89 in Orlando, Florida, surrounded by family," his family announced in a statement.

"Holtz is remembered for his enduring values of faith, family, service, and an unwavering belief in the potential of others. His influence extended far beyond the football field through the Holtz Charitable Foundation and the many players, colleagues, and communities shaped by his leadership."

The West Virginia native began his coaching career back in 1960, serving as an assistant for the University of Iowa. From there ... he bounced around the country before landing a head coaching gig with William and Mary University.

The murder trial in the 2006 killing of former University of Miami standout Bryan Pata has ended in a mistrial.

Jurors told the judge Monday -- their second day of deliberations -- they couldn’t reach a unanimous verdict in the murder trial of Rashaun Jones, who is accused of fatally shooting Bryan Pata outside his southwest Miami-Dade apartment in 2006.

After giving the panel more time to deliberate and learning they were still deadlocked, Judge Cristina Miranda declared a mistrial and a hung jury.

According to jail records, Kingston was picked up shortly before 3:30 PM local time, and is currently being held without bail in the Washington County Jail.

The Washington County Attorney's office said a woman, who was 20 years old at the time, reported an alleged sexual assault encounter with Kingston that she says occurred on February 23, 2025.
