Former Virginia Lt. Gov. Justin Fairfax rallied around gun regulation -- and even proudly held up a "disarm abusers" sign -- years before he shot his wife, and then himself, in an apparent murder-suicide ... TMZ has learned.
Check out the photo -- the now-deceased politician is smiling alongside gun violence survivor Kate Ranta and her young son while posing with the pointed sign the minor made.
You can see the sign's intentions loud and clear -- it's taking aim at the National Rifle Association while standing up for women's rights and raising awareness for those who die by gun violence at home.
Former Virginia Lt. Governor Justin Fairfax’s estranged wife, Cerina Fairfax, claimed he was not providing support for their kids and had stopped paying the mortgage months before the tragic murder-suicide, TMZ has learned.
TMZ obtained the divorce docs filed by Justin’s estranged wife on July 18, 2025. Cerina listed the date of marriage as June 17, 2006. They shared two kids: Cameron, born in 2009, and Carys, born in 2011.
In her paperwork, Cerina said they split on June 1, 2024, while living under the same roof. She says they entered into a post-nuptial agreement in December 2024 that resolved all issues of division of their assets and spousal support.
The Fairfax County Police Department tells TMZ ... Fairfax, 47, and his wife were found dead at their home in Annandale, VA from gunshot wounds, with her body found in the basement and his in the bedroom.
According to police, Fairfax shot his wife dead and then turned the gun on himself.
The son of former Virginia Lt. Governor Justin Fairfax called 911 after Justin allegedly shot his wife and then himself ... and we have the harrowing dispatch audio.
According to the audio, the incident was initially called in as a stabbing. The dispatcher is heard saying that Justin's wife, Cerina, is lying on the ground with holes in her shirt.
The son didn't immediately know where his dad was, according to the audio, but saw that his car was still there.
