WNBA player Sophie Cunningham isn't backing down from her comments on trans athletes in women's sports ... and she doesn't think her stance is all that controversial.
The Indiana Fever guard shared her opinion on the polarizing topic in an interview with ESPN this week ... where she claimed she felt a duty to "protect young girls in a locker room, or young girls in sport who shouldn't have to go against biological men."
#Fever guard Sophie Cunningham on her trans comments in ESPN:
“I said what I said. I think it’s kind of common sense. … I think it’s really important to protect children.”
Rep. Tim Burchettmight just be the funniest man on Capitol Hill ... roasting his colleagues, himself, and even the congressional workweek during one hilarious walk-and-talk.
TMZ DCcaught the Tennessee Republican Thursday morning on the Hill, where we crowned him the funniest member of Congress -- and he spent the rest of the conversation proving our point. You've gotta watch the clip ... Burchett fires off one-liners faster than lawmakers can begin a five-week recess.
Burchett says humor helps disarm people and break the tension in politics ... though he jokes his outgoing personality mostly serves to hide his insecurity. He also recalled President Trumponce introducing him in the Oval Office as one of the smartest -- if not the funniest -- guys in Congress.
Hunter Biden says some of the biggest Republicans in Washington might be closeted ... and he's kinda naming names.
Joe Biden's son sat down with Don Lemon to dish about why conservative politicians are so obsessed with gay people ... claiming it's because they're gay, too!
Don asks Hunter point-blank if the late Lindsey Graham was part of the so-called closeted cabal. HB said it wasn't a secret, noting "everybody knew."
As far as the rest of the list ... Hunter tries not to name names -- though he did bring up a backdoor route to mention a few prominent members of the Republican Party.
7/23/20026 6:24 AM PT ... A Secret Service official tells TMZ ... "A member of the Vice Presidential Protective Division is the subject of an administrative investigation, and potential criminal inquiry, involving allegations of compromising operational and information security." The official adds, "One principle is unequivocal: any conduct that potentially threatens the potential safety of a protectee will not be tolerated."
A Secret Service agent is in hot water with JD Vance after allegedly leaking info to reporters about the VP's travel habits.
The agent, who was not identified, was placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of an internal review by federal investigators into the suspected leak to MS NOW correspondents, according to CNN.
The internal probe stems from the agent allegedly passing information to MS NOW for a July 15 story about members of Vance's security detail being pissed off that they have to provide coverage for the Veep's personal travel schedule, calling it a burden.
Rep.Lauren Boebert’s dealing with a hot war and a frozen face ... all while railing against Republican leadership after she says she got screwed in a backroom deal.
Jacob caught up with the Colorado Congresswoman Wednesday evening after she missed a vote on the National Defense Authorization Act -- the annual defense policy bill -- and she claims unnamed GOP staffers lied to her.
LB says she objected to a “tech swap” between the U.S. and Israel and wanted the provision stripped from the bill. She claims she was still negotiating as voting continued and Republican staffers told her they’d keep the vote open for her.
Straight dudes in D.C. have no rizz ... and Rep. Ritchie Torressays that's why he's gay!
Our TMZ DCguys Jacob and Charlierecently torched the capital's straight dating pool ... calling straight guys buttoned-up robots with "ChatGPT, LinkedIn vibes" and zero motion on or off the dance floor. The gay guys, however, got a glowing review.
Well, the rant clearly ruffled some feathers on Capitol Hill ... and when we caught Torres out on Wednesday, he jokingly accused the pair of slandering every straight guy in town.
But when Charlie doubled down and said D.C.'s straight dudes just aren't great, the openly gay Congressman fired back, "That’s why I’m gay."
Be sure to check out the hilarious exchange ... Torres says he chose wisely!
Rep. Randy Fine is doubling down on characterizing New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani as a Muslim terrorist, and that triggered a pretty heated exchange with Jacob.
Fine zeroed in on the Mayor, who slammed Israel for what he calls the genocide of the Palestinian people. The Congressman from Florida says the number killed includes members of Hamas, responsible for slaughtering nearly 1,200 Israelis on October 7th, and that makes him a Muslim terrorist.
Jacob felt adding the word "Muslim" was gratuitous, but Fine fired back that we called other groups white nationalists, so what's the difference?
On the subject, a clip of Mark Ruffalo just surfaced from a podcast months ago, where he proclaimed he can no longer be friends with Jewish actors who support Israel.

Our TMZ DC team caught up with the Congresswoman from Minnesota on Wednesday and asked her about New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani saying the federal government should step in and slap the cuffs on Bibi during his upcoming trip to the United Nations.
Rep. Omar says she agrees with Mamdani ... adding it shouldn't be controversial for anyone to side against a "war criminal." She says the International Criminal Court has issued a warrant for Netanyahu's arrest -- and someone should follow through with it.
Rep. Haley Stevens says the campaign ad people have been roasting online isn't some put-on political persona ... it's pure Michigan.
TMZ DCcaught up with the Michigan Senate candidate Tuesday night on Capitol Hill and asked about her now-viral "stick it to 'em" moment.
Our intrepid producer Jacobwanted to know why she decided to embrace the viral mockery instead of running from it ... and she tells us it's because she's "authentically Michigan."
A young mayor in Georgia is being investigated for his alleged spending habits ... and the city he was elected to govern took away his city-issued credit cards while the probe plays out.
22-year-oldJayden Williams was sworn in as mayor of Stockbridge just six months ago ... but according to Atlanta News First, lawmakers passed a resolution last week restricting his access to non-public areas, his use of city vehicles, and his use of city funds through his city-issued credit card.
Williams was ordered to hand over his credit card and stop using cars owned by the city ... Williams had a Monday deadline, but mayor pro term Elton Alexander said he didn't know if Williams complied. Still, city officials claim they can deactivate the credit card remotely.
Zohran Mamdani clearly hates Benjamin "Bibi" Netanyahu ... because he's demanding the federal government arrest the Israeli prime minister if Bibi so much as steps foot in the Big Apple!!!
The New York City mayor has been on a tear lately when it comes to Bibi ... telling the New York Times he was exploring ways to arrest Bibi on the local side. But that idea appears to have gone south after talking with his law department and learning he had no legal authority to arrest a foreign government leader.
You may recall ... In 2024, the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued an arrest warrant for Netanyahu, charging him with war crimes and crimes against humanity in connection with the never-ending conflict in the Gaza Strip.

Rep. Hunt climbed into a luxury SUV and shut the door in Charlie's face without responding.

A Chicago Cubs fan who went viral after smacking a younger man in the back of the head for sitting during the national anthem is breaking his silence ... and he tells us the video's missing a key ingredient.
Here's the deal ... over the weekend, an older gentleman in a Cubs jersey barked at a younger fan in front of him to get off his butt for the Star-Spangled Banner at Wrigley Field ... and when the person kept sitting, the Cubs fan smacked him in the head.
Waiting for your permission to load the Instagram Media.
TMZ tracked down the Cubs fan -- Robert "Bob" Chavez -- and he tells us he lost his cool in the moment because he is a Vietnam veteran who had numerous buddies killed in the war.
Bob says he told the young man his veteran status and war stories when asking him to stand ... but the guy just kept sitting down, so Bob let loose a slap.
07/21/2026 11:59 AM -- Former President Joe Biden's office tells TMZ ... President Biden's conversations for a book a decade ago that discussed his late son are private, and were provided to the Department of Justice on the express condition they stay that way. Reversing course and making them public is just the latest example of this Administration weaponizing the DOJ for political retribution. It’s wrong, and while President Biden disagrees with today’s decision, he also respects the courts and the vital role an independent judiciary plays in a healthy democracy.
Rough news for Joe Biden to wake up to -- his appeal to block the Department of Justice from releasing audio from a 2017 interview with his memoir ghostwriter has just been rejected.
The 2-1 ruling from the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit came late Monday, with the court reasoning there is a "substantial" public interest in disclosing the material, AP News reports.
The former president wanted to keep the recordings under wraps, with his legal team arguing it was an invasion of privacy. The DOJ previously said the recordings were exempt from disclosure under public records law.
