UPDATE: A spokesperson for the director said he suffered a brain hemorrhage at 5 A.M. Tuesday morning at Charing Cross Hospital in London, where he had undergone a routine operation on his neck.

Anthony Minghella, the Oscar-winning director of "The English Patient," "The Talented Mr. Ripley" and "Cold Mountain" has died. He was 54.

His death was confirmed Tuesday by his agent, but no other details were immediately available.

Swedish super-band ABBA's long-time drummer Ola Brunkert was found dead in his Mallorca, Spain home over the weekend.

Spanish police say the gruesome death was caused by a freak accident in which Brunkert bled to death after puncturing his throat with a broken piece of glass. According to CNN, police believe the drummer may have fallen against a glass partition that separated his kitchen from his garden, causing the glass to break and fatally cut his throat.

Juvenile's murdered 4-year-old daughter Jelani was laid to rest Saturday along with her her sister Micaiah, and their mother, Gwinnett County Sheriff's Deputy Joy Deleston in James Island, S.C.

Juvenile did not attend the service and, according to his spokesperson, made the decision because he didn't want to divert attention away from the ceremony with further media attention.

Cops in Georgia arrested 17-year-old Anthony Tyrone Terrell Jr.,and charged him with killing his mother, and his two small sisters.

The coroner ruled Renfro's death was caused by "acute heroin/morphine intoxication."

The 25-year-old former child actor died in his L.A. home on January 15.

In a sad conclusion to a tragic life, the Los Angeles County Coroner confirmed that actor Brad Renfro died from an accidental overdose of heroin.

The cause of death was ruled "acute heroin/morphine intoxication," and the drugs were injected, according to the coroner's office. "The final manner of death has been ruled an accident," the coroner reported. The 25-year-old former child actor was found dead in his L.A. home on January 15.

Shell Kepler, who played nurse Amy Vining on "General Hospital" for more than 20 years, died yesterday in Portland, Ore. Paging Dr. Quartermaine!

According to the Medical Examiner's office, Kepler died of renal failure.

After her stint on "General Hospital" ended, Kepler moved to Portland and got involved in charity fundraising.

The unnamed caller was taped telling a reporter that Ledger's death was a "mistake" and claimed that Ledger loved daughter Matilda "to bits," among his other fabrications. TMZ spotted Ledger's dad, Kim -- the real one -- today at Heath's SoHo apartment, where he stayed for about an hour and left.

Marlon Brando's oldest son, Christian Brando, died early this morning at Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center in Los Angeles, David Seeley, a lawyer for Marlon Brando's estate confirmed to the AP. He was 49.

Brando had been in the ICU since January 11 for pneumonia.

Seeley said the family had no funeral plans yet, adding, "This is a sad and difficult time for the family."

Christian had a minor roles in a few movies, but his real life was far more compelling; he went to prison for voluntary manslaughter in the death of his half-sister's boyfriend, Dag Drollet. He also was accused by Robert Blake's defense attorneys of having a role in Bonnie Lee Bakley's murder. Bonnie had originally named Brando as the father of her child with Blake.

Sources tell us that Brando had most recently been working in construction under a pseudonym.

There is a newspaper and internet report out that the NYPD wants to question Mary-Kate Olsen in connection with the death of Heath Ledger. It is absolutely false.

TMZ has learned that paramedics who first attended to Heath Ledger were interviewed by NYPD today and said the scene looked "normal" -- meaning it didn't appear as if illicit drug use had occurred.

As we reported earlier, the $20 bill found at the scene tested clean for illegal narcotics, and the numerous pill bottles were nearly full.

TMZ has learned what types of pills were discovered in the apartment where Heath Ledger was found dead.

NYPD sources tell TMZ that nearly full pill bottles containing the anti-anxiety medications Alprazolam (Xanax), Diazepam (Valium) and Lorazepam (Ativan) were found in the apartment. The sleeping medication Zopiclone (Lunesta) and the sedative Temazepam (Restoril) -- which is used by people with "debilitating insomnia" -- were also found.

TMZ has confirmed two of the medications found at Heath Ledger's apartment were Xanax and Valium, both anti-anxiety drugs. Cops also found Ambien, along with several medications prescribed in Europe.

UPDATE: Cops in New York say the rolled-up $20 bill did not appear to have any drug residue on it -- but they are in the process of testing it.

TMZ has confirmed with NYPD sources in the Heath Ledger investigation that cops found a $20 bill rolled up "in a certain way" with a powdered substance on it. Our sources say they don't know what the nature of the powder is, but it's being tested at the police lab.

CBS 2 in NYC is reporting cops found drug packets along with the $20 bill in Ledger's apartment.
