Presley Gerber showing up to a sober-living facility while seemingly intoxicated isn't odd, so says an executive in the recovery industry ... and he tells us lots of people are getting a final fix before trying to get clean.

Nick Mathews -- a CEO in the rehab and sober living space -- joined us on "TMZ Live" Tuesday to discuss Presley's shocking death at a Santa Monica rehab facility.

Charles asked Nick if people should be surprised that Presley did not appear sober when he checked in the night before he died.

Nick tells us many addicts are intoxicated when they arrive after one last night of partying, and sobriety isn't always a precursor to getting into a rehab facility.

Presley Gerber may have hoped to fend off his addiction issues with ibogaine, but one expert says it's not as simple as taking a magic pill ... diving into the realities of the treatment.

Bryan Hubbard, the CEO of Americans for Ibogaine, joined "TMZ Live" Monday to discuss the psychoactive drug that Presley took a few months before his death.

Bryan described the substance for us in detail ... explaining how it's known to rewrite neural pathways -- and give people with addiction a fighting chance against their demons. He also notes a major risk with ibogaine.

A.I. researchers are having a "Jurassic Park" moment ... watching rogue agents get smarter, bolder, and harder to contain ... and this analogy compares robots to fictional velociraptors.

Jeffrey Ladish, a former Anthropic security engineer and now executive director of Palisade Research, joined "TMZ Live" Thursday and said people inside A.I. companies are getting seriously freaked out.

Ladish compared it to "Jurassic Park" ... saying researchers are having that "clever girl" moment as bots figure out how to get around the fences.

Hayden Panettiere may have gotten a visit from a suspected drug dealer just days before leaving for South Carolina ... at least according to her next-door neighbor ... and that's huge, because police think she died from a pill laced with fentanyl.

Hayden's neighbor Mia Terrazas joined "TMZ Live" Wednesday and dropped a bombshell ... saying she suspects a drug dealer showed up at Hayden's West Hollywood apartment on the Tuesday before she died on a Sunday in a Greenville Airbnb.

Mia says the guy couldn't get into the building at first and repeatedly buzzed Hayden's apartment ... before Mia eventually let him in and rode the elevator with him.

The A.I. arms race boils down to companies, countries, and billionaires' egos... and while that sounds like a nightmare to cynics across the globe ... there could still be reason for optimism.

A.I. ethicist Tristan Harris joined us on "TMZ Live" and we asked him why we shouldn't be cynical about CEOs of top A.I. companies suddenly sounding the alarm about their businesses, and what to make of all the doomsday scenarios.

Tristan says a bunch of new evidence and tests freaked out the CEOs and their scientists ... and he says pressure from the public and Congress could get a group of powerful men who hate losing to each other to come together for the greater good.

Dr. Drew says Hayden Panettiere may have had a real stretch of sobriety before relapsing ... and says those relapses can stay hidden from those around them.

The good doc joined "TMZ Live" Monday after we first reported that Hayden is suspected to have died from an oxycodone pill laced with fentanyl.

Drew says Hayden appeared to have gotten sober, but says relationships are one of the things that can knock someone off track even after a year or two of sobriety.

The pilot of a United Airlines plane that he says was targeted by terrorists on 9/11 is opening up about how frustrated he's been with the government's deafening silence.

Tom Mannello joined us on "TMZ Live" Friday -- the 25th anniversary of 9/11 -- to discuss what went suspiciously sideways on his flight ... and how he tried to put the events of the day out of his mind.

We told you all about United Flight 23 in our documentary "TMZ Investigates 9/11: The Fifth Plane" ... the plane was scheduled to take off from JFK at 9:00 AM for LAX ... but it never got off the ground. A total of 7 people on board raised suspicion.

The whistleblower who sounded the alarm over A.I. is telling us just how much time we have left before the technology could wipe us all out.

Ex-Anthropic employee Jacob Coxon joined us on "TMZ Live" Friday to crunch the numbers for us ... and by his calculations, he believes there will be a 10% chance of human extinction in the next ten years -- that is, if A.I. companies don't get things in check.

When pressed about why so many people who share his concerns would continue to work at A.I. companies ... Jacob explains they're hoping to do what they can to rein it in and make it safe.
