D4vd All Alone in Segregation at New Jail
D4vd is getting cozy in a new jail cell -- he was transferred to the L.A. County Men's Central Jail just before 10 PM Monday, TMZ has learned.
The "Romantic Homicide" singer won't be able to make many friends in the clink -- a rep for the L.A. County Sheriff's Office tells us ... D4vd has been placed in segregation because he's a noteworthy inmate, which means he'll be alone with his thoughts most of the day.
The Men's Central Jail has an inmate bed capacity of 5,640 inmates and houses criminals of all security levels.
D4vd Pleads Not Guilty, Demands Immediate Prelim
D4vd has just pled not guilty to murder and other charges in connection with the death of Celeste Rivas ... and he is challenging the D.A. to put their cards on the table, or fold.
D4vd went before a judge just hours after being charged with first-degree murder with special circumstances, including lying in wait, committing the crime for financial gain, and murdering a witness to an investigation.
Prosecutors also charged D4vd with lewd and lascivious sexual acts with a person under 14 years old and the mutilation of a human body.
D4vd's lawyers asked the judge for a preliminary hearing within 10 days ... that's something to which a defendant is entitled. There's a clear strategic reason for the move -- given that D4vd was arrested just a few days ago, the defense seems to be banking on the case still being a work in progress.

Celeste Rivas' cause of death has just been revealed ... and prosecutors in Los Angeles County say D4vd killed her with a "sharp instrument."
Prosecutors revealed the alleged cause of death Monday in documents charging D4vd with murdering Celeste.
A high-ranking source in the Los Angeles Police Department told us last week the Medical Examiner determined the manner of death as homicide ... but there was no indication how Celeste was murdered.
Celeste Rivas Family Declines to Speak After D4vd Charged ...

3:40 PM PT -- An expected news conference has been called off ... Celeste Rivas' family will not be speaking publicly from the courthouse this afternoon, according to a spokesperson for the D.A. at the scene.
Celeste Rivas' family was expected to speak out publicly after D4vd was charged in her violent death ... a news conference was set up, but the family later declined to appear for cameras.
Celeste's father, mother, and sister attended D4vd's court hearing this afternoon at the Hall of Justice in Downtown Los Angeles ... they had been set for a news conference with their attorney, Patrick Steinfeld. D4vd pled not guilty earlier this afternoon.
The family was set to make a brief statement through their attorney ... but they did not intend to take questions.
D4vd Court Day Turns Explosive ... Bomb Threat Sparks Courthouse Panic

12:36 PM PT -- The courthouse is now back open after the bomb squad took dogs through the building and found nothing ... all clear.
Chaos erupted outside the Los Angeles County Courthouse Monday as a bomb threat was called in -- amid the charges issued against accused killer D4vd in the high-profile Celeste Rivas case.
Law enforcement tells us they received a verbal threat, and the bomb squad is on the way to the courthouse. We hear the threat doesn't seem credible ... but they're taking no chances. The call came in during heightened security surrounding D4vd’s arraignment ... forcing an immediate response from police and courthouse officials.
Parts of the building were evacuated, and the media were told to exit as a precaution while authorities worked to determine whether the threat was credible.
D4vd Family Backs Him After Murder Charge
D4vd's family is standing firmly behind him after prosecutors hit the singer with murder charges in the high-profile Celeste Rivas Hernandez case.
Kent Schaffer, an attorney for the singer's family, tells TMZ ... "We are disappointed but not surprised that the District Attorney made this decision. David's family stands behind him 100%."

Singer D4vd has been officially charged with the murder of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas ... in addition to first degree murder with special circumstances -- which makes him eligible for the death penalty.
He's also been charged with lewd and lascivious acts with a child under 14 and mutilating a body.
The D.A. says the last time Celeste was seen was at D4vd's house ... never to be seen again. Her mutilated body was discovered in 2 bags in D4vd's Tesla.
Nathan Hochman says D4vd was lying in wait on April 23, 2025 ... and it appears that's when the D.A. says he killed her. He says another special circumstance was murder for financial gain. The financial gain was that Celeste was a "witness" to something -- presumably their sexual relationship -- and he would lose his career if she talked. The D.A. suggested Celeste threatened to go to police or go public regarding their sexual relationship, so he invited her over to kill her ... thus, the lying in wait.
LAPD Police Chief Jim McDonnell says there is evidence D4vd and Celeste had a sexual relationship.
D4vd Interscope Dropped Singer ... Months Ago
Singer D4vd has been officially charged with the murder of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas ... but his record label gave him the boot well before, TMZ has learned.
A source with direct knowledge tells us ... Interscope dropped the artist late last year when police said they were eyeing him in the teen's grisly death. The decision was not made public at the time ... because D4vd had not been arrested or charged with a crime. That all changed today.
TMZ previously reported that D4vd had been scrubbed from the label's website.
In addition to Celeste's murder ... D4vd -- born David Anthony Burke -- has also been charged with lewd and lascivious acts with a child under 14 and mutilating a body.

Patrick Steinfeld -- a lawyer for Rivas' family -- released a statement following the singer's arrest, explaining how the family plans to handle D4vd's possible upcoming court hearings.
Family members plan to exercise their rights under California's Victims' Bill of Rights -- better known as Marsy's Law -- to attend D4vd's arraignment if the D.A. chooses to charge him with murder. Monday is the deadline to either charge D4vd with a crime or release him from police custody ... and we're told they will do the former, after sources say the LAPD put the pressure on prosecutors.

D4vd LAPD Made Arrest Because Tired of Waiting on D.A., Sources
The LAPD was frustrated at the L.A. County D.A. for not filing murder charges against singer D4vd for the death of Celeste Rivas ... so they literally took the law into their own hands, this according to sources connected to the case.
Mark Geragos, cohost of the "2 Angry Men" podcast, told Harvey he has spoken with people high up in the D.A.'s Office who say they were not ready to charge D4vd, but the LAPD was sick of waiting, believing there was more than enough evidence.
Geragos says the D.A. didn't have its ducks in a row and wanted more time, but the LAPD wanted to force the D.A.'s hand by making the arrest. If the D.A. doesn't file charges by Monday, authorities have to set D4vd free, which is not a great look for prosecutors. Geragos says the LAPD is banking on the D.A. filing charges quickly to avoid the embarrassment.
Celeste Rivas Family Ready to Speak ... If D4vd Is Charged
Celeste Rivas's family is reportedly planning to release a statement through their attorney on Monday in reaction to D4vd being arrested 7 months after the 14-year-old's decomposing body was found in the trunk of his Tesla.
The family statement would be the first time the public hears from Celeste's loved ones since D4vd's Thursday arrest in Los Angeles.
Prosecutors have a Monday deadline to either charge D4vd with a crime or release him from police custody ... and, according to ABC7, an attorney representing Celeste's family says if the Los Angeles County District Attorney holds a press conference, Celeste's parents and sister will be there.

D4vd's parents aren't surprised he's behind bars -- on suspicion of murdering Celeste Rivas -- but, they don't plan on giving up on their son .... TMZ has learned.
Kent Schaffer -- the Texas-based attorney representing Dawud Burke and Colleen Burke -- tells us D4vd's folks are, obviously, upset and sad for their son, but they were well aware this was a strong possibility. As we've reported, LAPD's viewed the singer as their suspect in the case for several months.
Schaffer says the Burkes didn't speak to D4vd after his arrest Thursday evening, but he's uncertain if they had a chance to do so on Friday.
