11:03 AM PT -- West's attorney, Brandon Sloane, tells TMZ Sports he's confident the details of the case will show there's much more to the story ... but the ex-NBAer is using the experience as a wake-up call to seek professional help.

The attorney says he is "proud of Delonte as he has used this process to seek out help and been released on bond to a treatment facility. We all look forward to his continued progress, and Delonte is particularly appreciative of the numerous thoughts and well wishes over the last several weeks."

Delonte West has found himself in trouble with the law again -- the former NBA star was arrested last month in Virginia after he allegedly robbed an individual -- TMZ Sports has learned.

Law enforcement tells us they received a call from a person who reported getting robbed and assaulted in the 5900 block of Richmond Highway in Belle Haven ... and claimed the culprit ran off on them.

When cops arrived on the scene, they learned the individual in question didn't get far. The caller pointed out the man across the street as the one they were looking for. It turned out to be West, whom officials in the area have unfortunately become familiar with over the years.

The fans began voicing their frustrations at halftime of the Timberwolves-Bucks game at Fiserv Forum, when Antetokounmpo's Bucks were trailing by 31.

The boos carried over into the second half -- and, when Antetokounmpo opened the third quarter with a hard-earned bucket (and one), he responded by booing back at the Milwaukee faithful.

The Fisk University Bulldogs will not be playing this Thursday ... after sophomore forward, Andre Bell, was shot and killed on a highway in Nashville, Tennessee, on Sunday.

The HBCU's Assistant Athletic Director, Scott Wallace, confirmed the decision to TMZ Sports on Tuesday ... just two days after the Metro Nashville Police Department said Bell was tragically shot in the head on 1-65 North at the I-40 Interchange.

The Bulldogs' game against Voorhees University has been postponed ... but they will play Saturday against Talladega College.

The Fisk University basketball team is grieving the loss of player Andre Bell ... who tragically died after being shot on the highway in Nashville on Sunday.

He was only 20.

The Bulldogs released a statement on Monday ... with head coach Jeremiah Crutcher describing Bell as a leader on and off the court.

"He was a dominant force on the Fisk University Men’s Basketball team, but he was most remembered for his infectious smile, loving personality, and unique ability to always bring warmth to a room," Crutcher said.
