The women of the new "Baywatch" reboot may be bringing the heat on camera ... but behind the scenes, there's competition brewing over who's becoming the franchise's next breakout bombshell.

A source on set tells TMZ ... there's some "tension" over who's filling the Pamela Anderson lane in the modern version of the iconic series ... and the contenders are Brooks Nader and Livvy Dunne.

Brooks certainly has the edge when it comes to screen time ... because she appears in virtually every episode ... while Livvy is only featured in three episodes -- less than half the season.

Livvy Dunne got the full acting experience before joining "Baywatch" ... revealing she first had a taste of rejection ... and it's all thanks to "The White Lotus!!"

The former LSU gymnast explained how she earned her red swimsuit on "The Tonight Show" on Wednesday ... admitting her foray into entertainment didn't go so swimmingly at the start.

She told Jimmy Fallon she did an in-person tryout for the hit HBO show ... and her nerves were off the charts. Ultimately, they elected to go with someone else for the role.

Chris Appleton's officially taking his talents from the glam chair to the lifeguard tower ... 'cause TMZ has learned he's landed a role in the upcoming "Baywatch" reboot.

TMZ obtained photos of the celebrity hairstylist on set Tuesday in Los Angeles and he was hard to miss. Chris was shirtless for multiple takes, showing off his tan and chiseled physique in low-rise jeans and white sneakers while clutching scripts between scenes.

At one point, he was seen huddled with a crew member going over lines, and in another moment, he casually tossed on a jacket between takes while production staff and cameras surrounded him on location.

The "Baywatch" reboot has us breaking a sweat, and this mouthwatering pic of Shay Mitchell and Hassie Harrison ain't helping the dehydration ... or the fixation!

Shay, 39, and Hassie, 36, took a break from their scripts, dropped a hot BTS shot, and we wasted no time screen-grabbing the hottest shots!

One thing about the Baywatch world -- they never run out of babes, whether it’s the OG icons or the new wave in the reboot currently filming.

Just peep these shots of Livvy Dunne, serving up BTS from set in that iconic red swimsuit -- and with all that heat, we gotta ask -- is she topping Pamela?

As you know, Pamela owned the ‘90s with her blonde bombshell era on the lifeguard hit.

"Baywatch" star David Charvet is adamant the dog he hit and killed with his truck was NOT on a leash ... and he says he shot video showing the dog owner walking her dogs off a leash hours after the incident.

TMZ obtained the video, and it shows David driving his truck down a residential street in Malibu ... as a woman and two dogs head towards him. The dogs are NOT on a leash.

David says it's Vera Errico walking her dogs ... she's the woman who alleges David was behind the wheel in a hit-and-run that killed one of her dogs, who she was walking on a leash in Malibu.

Law enforcement sources have told us David has been cleared of criminal wrongdoing in the unfortunate incident.

David Hasselhoff has fans worried after he was recently spotted using a walker and looking thinner than his beefy "Baywatch" prime ... but he is doing just fine, TMZ is told.

A source close to the Hoff tells us ... pictures of DH using the walker were of him leaving physical therapy ... which the poor guy needs after having both a knee and a hip replacement.

We're told he's still active ... exercising and hiking -- so fans can relax and stop spiraling with speculation.

The 39-year-old actress -- who is currently on the set of "Baywatch" -- shared some BTS on her Instagram, leaving us with one option and one option only: we're crowning her this week's Cheek of the Week!

Here's Livvy Dunne and a shirtless Noah Beck getting flirty and handsy, filming a sexy car wash scene for the "Baywatch" reboot.

TMZ obtained video and photos from the shoot, and you see Livvy sliding down the hood of a lifeguard truck and grabbing onto Noah's shoulders ... as he holds her and she washes his washboard abs.

Livvy gets off Noah's back and takes a rag to his chest again, then flicks some soapy water on him ... and another actress slaps Noah's butt with a towel.

Former gymnast Livvy was serving in a blue swimsuit, flashing a thumbs-up alongside swimsuit model Brooks -- who rocked a skintight, all-black look … both looking like they’ve already bonded before cameras really started rolling at the L.A. beach.

Just look -- big smiles, blazing sun, water sparkling ... the vibes were very much giving beachy bliss.

Actress Alexandra Paul -- known for her roles on "Baywatch" and John Carpenter's "Christine" -- is in hot water with the law ... she was arrested in Wisconsin over the weekend, TMZ has learned.

According to criminal records obtained by TMZ, Alexandra was arrested and booked Sunday on one count of trespassing. The papers say she was arrested on Sunday morning and later booked in the county jail that afternoon.

According to the Dane County Sheriff's Office ... Alexandra's arrest was related to a protest at Ridglan Farms -- a controversial breeding facility in Blue Mounds, about 30 miles west of Madison.

The "Baywatch" reboot is already making waves ... the cast hit the beach to start training for their steamy new roles!

Shay Mitchell was swimwear-ready alongside castmates Noah Beck, Jessica Belkin, Thaddeus LaGrone, and Stephen Amell as they splashed into the L.A. surf to get the hang of playing real-life lifeguards.

The weather in L.A. over the weekend was scorching ... basically the perfect conditions for a little "method acting" in the water. Tough job, right?

Olivia Dunne is getting used to sandy beaches and how her impressive backside looks in lifeguard red ... flaunting her booty while celebrating her new "Baywatch" role!

The former gymnast and influencer celebrated her new gig with a couple of Instagram pics capturing her excited face and the script for the show ... with its large red emblem embossed on the cover.

While Livvy's grin is front and center in one pics, fans eyes were probably pulled a little lower by another ... which prominently featured her sculpted legs and bottom.

Social influencer Livvy Dunne is setting her sights on Hollywood and has joined the "Baywatch" reboot with Shay Mitchell and Brooks Nader, TMZ has learned. 

Sources tell TMZ ... Livvy -- who is with MLB star Paul Skenes -- will be playing Grace.

The other cast members previously announced include Stephen Amell as “Hobie,” Jessica Belkin as “Charlie,” Noah Beck as “Luke,” Shay Mitchell as “Trina,” Hassie Harrison as “Nat,” Thaddeus LaGrone as “Brad,” Brooks Nader as “Selene,” and David Chokachi as “Cody.” 

We're told the cast currently in place had the first table read last week. Sources tell us they are excited about how the project is coming along.
