4:30 PM PT -- A rep for Wendy tells TMZ ... "Contrary to recent media reports, Dr. Wendy Osefo was not terminated from a faculty position at Wesleyan University. She formally submitted her letter of resignation prior to any public announcement made by the university."
They added ... "Dr. Osefo made the voluntary decision to step down from her role. This decision was made independently and communicated directly to the university before any external reports surfaced."
1:23 PM PT -- Wesleyan University now tells TMZ that Wendy resigned from her position at the university.
More bad news for "The Real Housewives of Potomac" star Dr. Wendy Osefo ... she and her husband Eddie were booked on fraud charges Friday ... and today TMZ has learned she's also lost her job.
Wendy had been a Distinguished Visiting Professor of Sociology at Wesleyan University, but the school released a statement to TMZ Tuesday, writing simply, "Wendy Osefo is no longer an employee of Wesleyan University."
In addition to Wesleyan in Connecticut, Wendy also taught at Johns Hopkins University in Maryland before resigning in 2024. She has degrees from Temple University and Johns Hopkins, and a Ph.D. in public affairs and community development from Rutgers.

Andy Cohen is weighing in on all the drama surrounding Wendy and Eddie Osefo ... calling the felony charges against them "really sad."
The Bravo TV host addressed the arrests of the "Real Housewives of Potomac" couple on the Monday episode of his SiriusXM radio show, "Andy Cohen Live" -- kicking things off saying he was blindsided by the charges just like everyone else.
Cohen also said he was "really sad" about the situation, and said he's still a big Wendy fan. He went on to say Wendy has been a great housewife and a great role model.

Four people are dead, and at least 12 others are injured following a mass shooting early Saturday morning in Leland, Mississippi.
The small town's Mayor John Lee tells TMZ the incident occurred downtown around midnight while the town was hosting visitors for Leland High School’s homecoming weekend.

Michael Lohan is a free man again ... 'cause TMZ has learned Lindsay's dad was released from jail early after serving time for violating his probation -- tied to his February arrest for allegedly beating up his ex, Kate Lohan.
A rep for the Palm Beach County Detention Center in Florida tells TMZ ... Michael was released around 1 AM on Sunday, October 5. We're told he scored early release -- 24 days off -- thanks to "gain time" earned from working inside the jail as a trustee inmate.
Lohan checked in around April and was expected to serve roughly nine months. His probation violation stemmed from the Texas arrest, where he was hit with a felony continuous violence against the family charge. That case, we're told, is still pending.

Law enforcement officials in Maryland are sharing the latest on the felony fraud case involving "The Real Housewives of Potomac" stars Dr. Wendy and Eddie Osefo.
The Carroll County Sheriff's Office addressed the news only hours after the Osefos were busted on 16 charges related to a burglary they reported last year at their home.
As we reported ... cops say the Osefos claimed several designer bags and jewelry had been stolen, but an investigation found Wendy purchased and returned the items before the alleged burglary.

Thursday, the UK's Crown Prosecution Service gave the Metropolitan Police Service the green light to charge Westwood with 4 counts of rape, 9 counts of indecent assault, and 2 counts of sexual assault ... stemming from incidents related to 7 different women.

Former UFC fighter Suman Mokhtarian has died at the age of 33 after being shot and killed in an alleged targeted attack in Australia.
According to The Daily Telegraph, New South Wales officials believe Mokhtarian was out for a walk when the fatal encounter happened. Witnesses told police shots rang out of a red Audi around 6 PM local time before the car sped off.
Mokhtarian was shot in the upper torso ... and paramedics tried to revive him, but efforts were unsuccessful.

11:09 AM PT -- Court documents, obtained by TMZ Sports, show Julian Fleming is facing nine total charges ... including one count of homicide by vehicle while driving under the influence, one count of homicide by vehicle and one count of aggravated assault by vehicle while driving under the influence.
Additionally, the docs note Fleming allegedly had a BAC of .118 shortly after the crash.
9:54 AM PT -- Julian Fleming's attorney, David Bahuriak, tells TMZ Sports ... one of the charges his client is facing is homicide by vehicle -- and he's convinced the prosecution's filing is "wrong."
"In my view," the lawyer said, "the prosecution here took a tragic and unavoidable accident and turned it into a crime when the facts don't support that. The facts don't support criminal homicide."
Bahuriak added Fleming "lost the love of his life" during the crash ... and "this prosecution does nothing to advance the interests of anyone."

The alleged victim in the Mark Sanchez stabbing incident has been released from the hospital, the 69-year-old's lawyers tell TMZ Sports ... but with serious injuries that make it hard to even talk, he's got a long road to recovery.
We spoke with attorneys Erik May and Eddie Reichert on Monday -- the men representing Perry Tole -- who was severely wounded after an altercation with the former NFL QB early Saturday morning in downtown Indianapolis.
"He's released from the hospital, recovering, and hopeful that he'll regain function to, you know, his ability to speak," May said.
