Chinese snowboarder Jiayu Liu took a serious spill in a disastrous move on her women's halfpipe qualifying run Wednesday ... slamming down hard and unable to get up afterward.

Check out the scary video ... the 33-year-old was well on her way to landing a 900-degree spin ... but her board suddenly caught an edge as she was coming off the transition part of the pipe, violently tossing her forward and sending her into an uncontrolled somersault.

The clip shows her legs and board flipping over her back -- a wipeout known as a "Scorpion," because the crash resembles the arachnid's tail curling up forward toward its head.

A teenage boy in Florida is facing a felony charge over a video that law enforcement says shows him intentionally setting his friend on fire on a beach.

The Marion County Sheriff's office says a 17-year-old kid in a viral video is seen creating a trail of gasoline from a campfire on the sand ... and splashing gas on another boy sitting nearby, causing him to light up. That kid ran into the lake to extinguish the flames.

The victim told his mom he got burned when he tried to throw a water bottle filled with gas into a fire ... but his dad found the video and called the sheriff. Cops later found the gas container in nearby shrubbery ... along with some "empty alcoholic beverage cans."

Lindsey Vonn wiped out on the slopes of Switzerland during a World Cup race Friday -- suffering a knee injury one week before the Olympics, according to reports.

Quinton Aaron -- the actor who played Michael Oher in "The Blind Side" -- has been hospitalized after collapsing at his home .. TMZ has learned.

A manager for the actor tells TMZ ... he's been hospitalized in Atlanta for the past three days. We're told Quinton was walking up the stairs in his apartment last week when his legs suddenly stopped functioning, causing him to collapse. He was rushed to the hospital.

According to a GoFundMe page, organizers claim Quinton is "on life support due to a severe blood infection." However, his manager tells us he's stable, communicating with his family and team, and receiving precisely the care needed at this time.

His manager tells us doctors are still running tests and evaluating Quinton's condition, and at this time, there's no definitive word on what caused the fall.
