Robin Williams did not have money trouble and money had no connection to his depression ... although he DID complain about being taken to the cleaners "the way most divorced husbands do" ... so says a person who frequently discussed finances with the actor.

The source -- who was in regular contact with Robin -- tells us he was not cash strapped and lived "the way he wanted to," adding, "He always flew first class, took great vacations and lived in the house he loved."

As for why he was selling his Napa ranch, we're told he just didn't like going there anymore. The source says the ranch was "a thing" for Robin and his second wife, Marsha, and he just didn't enjoy going there any longer.

The source says Robin did complain over the years about "getting taken to the cleaners by his ex-wives."

Jay Adams -- a legendary skater who was portrayed by Emile Hirsch in "Lords of Dogtown" -- has died of a heart attack ... TMZ has learned

Sources connected with the skater tell TMZ ... he died late Thursday of an apparent heart attack in Mexico.

We're told Adams was there with his wife and the 2 were on a long surfing holiday. They had been there for 3 months.

Family sources tell us ... the 53-year-old has been sober for months and had no history of heart problems.

This was the first time in 20 years Adams was allowed to leave the U.S. He had been in and out of jail since the '80s on various felony drug charges.

Robin Williams' Parkinson's diagnosis had an impact on his depressed state ... on both a psychological and physiological level -- but it's NOT why he committed suicide ... multiple sources connected to the family tell TMZ.

We're told ... Robin was struggling emotionally with the diagnosis ... like anyone would. Our sources say Parkinson's was NOT the reason for his depression ... something Robin lived with for years. But we're told the Parkinson's news "exacerbated" his depressed state of mind.

We're also told doctors were treating Robin with meds to slow the progression of the disease down, and the cocktail -- which was a work in progress to get right -- also had a negative impact on his emotional state.

And doctors believe Parkinson's itself physiologically triggers depression in people.

But our sources make it clear ... the diagnosis of Parkinson's did NOT trigger Robin's suicide. It was the result of chronic, intense depression that dogged the actor for much of his life.

Robin Williams could be memorialized in a video game that was so near and dear to him ... he named his daughter after it.

Legions of Williams fans have started an online petition to have a character in the "Legend of Zelda" game named after him.

Williams was famous for his love of video games, especially "Zelda." Not only did he name his daughter Zelda after the character ... the two even appeared in commercials for the game.

Now a petition has sprung up on change.org to have the next incarnation of the game feature a character named Robin. "He won't get to play it, but he'll live on forever in a universe he always loved" ... so the petition reads.

77,000 fans have signed on ... so far.

Gilbert Gottfried has a favorite Robin Williams comedic moment that involves Nazis, Jews and the Holocaust.

We didn't know this ... but Gilbert tells us he and Robin never saw each other when they shot "Aladdin."

Robin Williams' wife says he was in the early stages of Parkinson's disease at the time of his death -- but she says he wanted to keep that battle under wraps.

Susan Schneider just released a statement, saying ... "Robin's sobriety was intact and he was brave as he struggled with his own battles of depression, anxiety as well as early stages of Parkinson's Disease, which he was not yet ready to share publicly."

Susan does not draw a connection between the Parkinson's and Robin's suicide.

Robin Williams once talked about how he thought about committing suicide while struggling with addiction ... and it's chilling to hear him explain how he talked himself out of it.

Williams was on Marc Maron's WTF Podcast in 2010. The 2 talk about death -- Robin had just undergone a serious heart operation -- and he launches into a monologue about a struggle he had when he seriously thought about ending his life.

These are the last known pictures of Robin Williams ... a day or so before he committed suicide.

A frail Williams was at an art gallery reception Saturday night ... near his Bay Area home. He surprised local artist Mark Jaeger -- a ceramics teacher at Marin Catholic High School -- whose works were featured.

Jaeger tells TMZ Robin was there for about an hour, seemed in good spirits ... laughing frequently. Jaeger says Williams was not drinking.

Jaeger's art includes a "superhero sculpture series" ... Robin purchased one of his superhero clay heads in the past. The artist says he and Williams were talking about a possible script based on the concept of his sculptures ... a homeless superhero who comes out during the night to help people in need.

Robin was there with wife Susan Schneider ... the woman in the foreground with dark hair. We're told Robin spoke to Jaeger's students and seemed engaged.

The pic was taken at 5:45 PM Saturday. Robin's body was discovered Monday morning.

"Million Dollar Listing" star Edith Flagg died today at the age of 94 ... TMZ has learned.

Edith was a holocaust survivor and fashion mogul -- and became a fan favorite on her grandson Josh Flagg's show.

Josh told us ... "My grandmother was a legend, not only in my eyes, but in the eyes of the countless people she helped and touched. Beverly Hills and LA have lost one of the great members of the community."

Edith fled her native Austria at the age of 19 to escape the Nazis ... eventually making it to the US in the 1940s, where she built her fortune in the fashion industry. She was a big supporter of the United Jewish Welfare Fund and The City of Hope.

Edith famously brought polyester to America after finding the fabric in Switzerland. Disco is forever in her debt.

Someone has posted a pic of what they claim to be Robin Williams' body at the Coroner's Office ... but we've learned it is NOT Robin.

We've traced it back ... the pic was taken from a Spanish language website that deals with strangulation and has several images posted to illustrate. The image that was sent around Tuesday night resembles Robin, but it was posted several years ago.

Zelda Williams was extremely upset by the pic, tweeting, "I'm shaking. I can't. Please. Twitter requires a link and I won't open it. Don't either. Please."

Zelda then deleted her tweet and apologized, saying "I should've risen above."

Law enforcement confirms to TMZ ... the pic is NOT Robin's body.

There was a crisis conference call Tuesday after Robin Williams' suicide ... with producers of his last movie trying to decide if they should delete certain scenes involving Robin's alcoholic character.

The movie is a family-friendly comedy, but during one scene Robin and his son -- played by Joel McHale -- reveal Robin's character is an alcoholic who's been sober for 6 years. Turns out Robin went to rehab 6 years before his death and was sober ever since.

Producers decided to keep the scene as is.

Production sources tell us during the 4 weeks Robin was on set in April, 2013, he was stone-cold sober and showed no signs of depression. Quite the opposite ... he was upbeat the entire shoot.

We're told there will be one change -- Robin's picture will appear as the final frame of the flick ... in memory.

Robin Williams did some of his finest work on a football field ... while wearing high-heeled boots and a bedazzled vest for the Denver Broncos cheerleaders -- and TMZ Sports has learned how he charmed the entire squad.

Lauren Bacall -- one of the leading ladies of the Golden Age of Hollywood -- is dead ... TMZ has learned.

A family member tells us Bacall had a massive stroke Tuesday morning at her home.

Bacall -- who famously starred with and married Humphrey Bogart -- starred in a slew of movies, including "The Mirror Has Two Faces," "How to Marry a Millionaire" and "Designing Woman."

One of Bacall's biggest movies was with Bogart -- "Key Largo" in 1948.

She married Bogart in 1945 and they were together until his death in 1957.

Bacall married Jason Robards in 1961. They divorced in 1969.

Bacall had 3 children.

Lauren recently appeared on an episode of "Family Guy" ... as a friend of Peter's mom, named Evelyn.

The San Francisco Giants will honor the memory of comedian Robin Williams during Tuesday night's game against the Chicago White Sox ... and TMZ Sports has learned what the team has planned.

We're told the team will observe a moment of silence before the game in memory of WIlliams. They've also planned a highlight video -- which will be played sometime between innings later in the game -- of various highlights of Williams' appearances at Giants games.

Back in 2010, Williams appeared on the field before game one of the National League Championship Series to rile up the crowd. They went on to win the World Series that year.

Robin Williams tried to slit his wrist with a pocket knife but when that suicide attempt failed he hanged himself with a belt.

The Marin County Deputy Coroner says Williams was at home alone Monday when he tried slashing his left wrist, but it only left "acute superficial cuts."

The Coroner says Williams then took a belt, tied it around his neck and secured it between the closet door and door frame. Williams was in a seated position, slightly suspended with his right shoulder against the door.

The Coroner also confirmed TMZ's story ... Robin's personal assistant discovered his body.

The official says the actor had been receiving treatment for depression. As we reported ... Robin had been severely depressed and went to a Minnesota rehab facility last month.

9:00 AM PDT: We've learned Robin was discovered by his personal assistant. Robin's wife Susan left their house Monday morning to run errands. While she was gone, Robin's assistant came over, knocked at the door but no one answered. She became concerned because Robin was supposed to be there. She then knocked on the window and when no one answered she went inside and found the body.

Robin Williams committed suicide by hanging himself inside his home ... sources familiar with the situation tell TMZ.

Sources say the family has heard nothing about a suicide note and it appears the comedian did not leave one.

We're told Robin hanged himself inside the main house ... not the garage.

Law enforcement will hold a news conference today at 11 AM PT to discuss details of the suicide and TMZ will livestream it.

As we previously reported ... Robin had been struggling with a deep depression and went to rehab last month. People familiar with his condition say he seemed almost too far gone back then.
