Clipper Catches Legal Break

Published | Updated

Zach Randolph -- the Los Angeles Clipper who was busted for DUI a few weeks back -- has just dodged a bullet, thanks to the magic of his lawyer, Blair Berk.

Randolph has just been charged with one count of misdemeanor reckless driving -- not DUI. And we thought only Lakers caught breaks like that.

Zach was pulled over on April 6 while driving on the 405 in L.A., after CHP officers spotted his Rolls Royce weaving in and out of his lane.

We're told Randolph failed his field test -- but he obviously scored in picking the right lawyer.

UPDATE: Zach, who did not show up for court in L.A. today, just pled not guilty to reckless driving.

His lawyer, Blair Berk, said "The only reason Zach Randolph was not charged with a DUI was that he did not commit a DUI -- no magic, just facts."

Motorized Bar Stool Drunk -- Free to Ride Again

Published | Updated

Ohio natives beware -- the drunken idiot/genius who was banned from riding his motorized bar stool has just been given permission by a judge to saddle back up.

Kyle Wygel -- who got a DUI last month in Ohio while riding the greatest invention since, well, booze -- struck a plea deal on Friday, which forces him to pay an $830 fine and attend an alcohol prevention program.

But more importantly, the judge lifted the ban which kept Kyle from riding his bar stool-mobile -- which tops out at an impressive 38 MPH.

20 bucks says he's listening to "Free Bird" right now.

For a guy who claims he's serious about staying sober -- why does recovering alcoholic A.J. McLean of the Backstreet Boys keep trekking back into the dangerously tempting Hollywood club scene!?!

Don't get us wrong, we're rooting for him to stay clean -- but for a guy who fell off the wagon just a couple of months ago (see: Key Club incident) -- maybe the bar he was at last night isn't the best place to kick it nowadays.

Remember the old saying -- when you play with fire, you get drunk.

Eminem's Lil Bro Popped for DUI

Cops say Eminem's little brother cracked a bottle, let his body waddle -- and then got behind the wheel of a car.

Nathan Mathers

When cops approached the car, officers say they "immediately smelled intoxicants." Mathers was given a field sobriety test -- which he failed -- and was immediately arrested.

According to police, Mathers had a blood alcohol level of .16 -- twice the legal limit in Michigan.

Mathers was released on $10,000 bond.

'Hungry Eyes' Singer Eats a Jail Sentence

Published | Updated

The guy who sang the '80s hit "Hungry Eyes" is gonna learn the song has new meaning behind bars -- dude is going to jail.

An Ohio judge threw the book at Eric Carmen today for that epic DUI caught on tape from back in September. Carmen was sentenced to 180 days in jail -- but will only have to do 30.

Carmen, a former member of the Raspberries, was also ordered to pay a $1,000 fine.

For those who haven't seen the tape, Carmen was absolutely hammered -- dude hit a fire hydrant, and then handed cops his credit card instead of his driver's license. Oh, and he blew a .23, nearly three times the legal limit.

This was Carmen's second DUI. He will begin serving his sentence on April 25.

FYI -- it's because of a moron like Carmen that Nick Adenhart's family is in mourning right now.

Everhart, 39, represented herself in the case... she clearly has a fool for a client.

"I understand that if I continue to drink and drive it may result in death or serious bodily injury to another person."

UPDATE: The middle pic of Gallo is his bloody mugshot from a March '07 arrest for drunk and disorderly conduct.

We've just obtained a photo of Andrew Gallo, who was driving the van that caused the accident that killed Nick Adenhart and two others.

Cops believe Gallo was driving under the influence and on a suspended license because of a prior DUI. He fled the scene and was arrested. Gallo could be booked on murder charges, along with vehicular manslaughter, hit-and-run and felony DUI.

Clipper Clipped for Driving Drunk

Published | Updated

It's only getting worse for the Los Angeles Clippers ... one of their alleged "stars" was busted for DUI early this morning.

Hours after the Clip Squad went down to the Lakers last night, Clipper power forward Zach Randolph was pulled over by California Highway Patrol officers on the 405 Freeway when they spotted Randolph's white Rolls Royce weaving in and out of his lane at around 2:25 AM.

Cops say when they approached the car, they "noticed an odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from within the vehicle" and proceeded to perform some field tests on the 6'9," 255 pound 27-year-old. Randolph failed those and was arrested for DUI.

Randolph, who already has a previous DUI bust under his belt, is currently behind bars -- being held without bail.

A spokesman for the Clippers tells us, "We'll reserve comment until we've had an opportunity to review the facts."

UPDATE: Randolph was finally released from jail about 30 minutes ago. In a statement released by the Clippers, the team has suspended Zach "for two games for conduct detrimental to the team."

"Note: Unit #1 was a home made [sic] motor vehicle, a bar stool attached to a frame with a lawn mower attached."

"At this point I noticed that Mr. Wygle's eye's [SIC] were very blood shot and were glassy in appearance."

"I asked him what happened, Mr. Wygle stated, 'I wrecked my bar stool.'"

Arrested Detroit Lions Bust Finally Gets His Shot

Rogers -- the #2 overall pick in the 2003 draft -- was sentenced to 30 days in the slammer yesterday (with 15 days credit for time served) for violating the terms of his probation in a domestic violence case.

Court records show the 27-year-old, who signed a $55 million contract with the Lions back in the day, tested positive for alcohol and falsified records showing he attended AA classes.

Rogers was a wide receiver before he got locked up -- no word if he'll change his position before he gets out.

"Sober House"-mate Mary Carey was so tanked, she was hardly able to stand outside the Key Club -- struggling to keep her eyes open, shouting maniacally, and of course, making out with her lady friend.

Unfortunately, it's more tragic than entertaining .. especially the part where Mary shouted "I'm not sober anymore, but I love Dr. Drew!"

Lindsay Lohan Off the Hook

The warrant issued for Lindsay Lohan's arrest was just recalled.

Lohan's lawyer, Shawn Chapman Holley, made quick work of it in a hearing that lasted minutes. S.C.H. showed proof of compliance and that was that. Lindsay didn't show.

Lohan will enroll in a new alcohol education program -- apparently she had "personality conflicts" with her old one -- and will be back in court to prove it on April 3.

So much for those bogus stories that the hearing was about a driver's license...
