The Village People are making a play for two of the biggest musical honors in the U.S. of A. -- induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and a Kennedy Center Honor.

The V.P.'s Facebook page makes the case ... "For those who doubt Village People brought influence on other artists, Rolling Stone's song influenced by Village People. Clearly the group has had major influence on other artists, thus satisfying the prerequisite for inclusion [in the HOF]."

Fact is ... the Village People have had a string of iconic hits, most notably "Y.M.C.A.," which has had a resurgence courtesy of Prez Trump. But the list is long -- "In the Navy," "Macho Man," "San Francisco," "Go West" and "Can't Stop the Music."

Looks like Drake’s exes weren’t exactly crying over him -- they were too busy living it up at Caesars Superdome Sunday, with Serena, who he had a thing with from 2011 to 2015, making a dance cameo to "Not Like Us," the super popular track dissing Drizzy.

Jim Jefferies could be dragged into court by a cop -- correction, The Cop from the Village People -- all because Jim referred to "Y.M.C.A." as a gay anthem ... TMZ has learned.

Kendrick Lamar is receiving mixed reactions following his NFL Super Bowl LIX halftime performance ... even after he included his extremely popular Drake diss track "Not Like Us" in the lineup.

In addition to the hit song -- which won him five Grammys last week -- he performed other crowd-pleasers, including "gnx," "peekaboo" and "HUMBLE." He also brought out SZA for their hits "All the Stars" and "Luther," and even had Serena Williams -- who once dated Drake -- crip-walking to "Not Like Us." Samuel L. Jackson opened up the performance dressed as Uncle Sam to preside over the show.

But not all viewers were pleased. Many fans slammed the show as "boring," with some even claiming they switched channels to pass the time.

Kanye West's X account has been deactivated after days of antisemitic, misogynistic and racist rants ... and it came after Elon Musk labeled Ye's account "NSFW" in response to the rapper posting too much porn.

Elon's Sunday response came after a concerned X user advocated for Kanye to be banned from the platform -- not because of Ye's comments, but for repeatedly posting porn, which was showing up on X whether people wanted to see it or not.

Musk replied ... "Given what he has posted, his account is now classified as NSFW. You should not be seeing that anymore." Shortly afterward, Kanye appeared to deactivate his X account himself.
