TMZ has learned Robin Williams underwent his highly publicized heart surgery and is recovering at the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio.

Robin postponed his comedy tour at the beginning of this month after announcing he needed to have an aortic valve replacement.

UPDATE: Robin's rep just released this statement from his cardiothoracic surgeon:

"Mr. Williams' operation went extremely well and we expect him to make a full recovery. The 3 1/2 hour heart surgery was conducted to replace his aortic valve, repair his mitral valve, and correct his irregular heart beat.

His heart is strong and he will have a normal heart function in the coming weeks with no limitations on what he'll be able to do.

A couple of hours after surgery, he was entertaining the medical team and making us laugh."

We're told T.R. was going eastbound on Hollywood Blvd -- the other car was going westbound when they collided. He was not injured, but a man and a woman were taken to the hospital by ambulance.

According to a lawsuit filed today in L.A. County Superior Court, Dr. David Matlock is being accused of causing Patricia D'Edgido to suffer "extreme and severe permanent personal injuries" after a 2007 surgery "on her buttocks and other areas of her body, including her arms and vaginal area."

Among the allegations in the lawsuit, Patricia accuses the doc and the institute he founded of "the use of an improper surgical technique, the artless execution of surgical technique, including the manner in which defendants performed such surgery ... failure to perform the correct surgical technique."

Now Patricia is looking to snatch more than $25k for her troubles.

The 58-year-old philanthropist exited an L.A. dance studio with a cast on his left leg on Wednesday.

Robin Williams has postponed the rest of his comedy tour to have heart surgery.

A statement just released by his reps says Robin will have "to undergo surgery for an aortic valve replacement" -- and said his tour will hopefully pick back up in the fall.

The release also included this statement from Williams:

"I'm so touched by everyone's support and well wishes. This tour has been amazing fun and I can't wait to get back out on the road after a little tune-up."

Mariska Hargitay was rushed to a hospital in New York last night after suffering chest pains.

This is the third time Hargitay has been hospitalized since December -- the previous two times were for a collapsed lung.

We're told Mariska complained of chest pains while on the set of "Law & Order: SVU," but was taken to the hospital after filming.
