The NY Giants need franchise QB Jaxson Dart on the football field ... and that's why former star running back Brandon Jacobs is imploring the young player to SLIDE!!!

TMZ Sports spoke with the two-time Super Bowl winner earlier this week after Dart took another hard hit during Big Blue's November 9th game against the Chicago Bears, forcing him out of the game with a concussion.

It was the fourth time Dart was forced into the infamous blue medical tent ... and while Jacobs loves JD's mobility and playmaking ability, he's pleading with the rookie to learn how to avoid big hits.

The N.Y. Giants need a coach, and former star RB Brandon Jacobs believes he's got the guy who will return the G-men to their Super Bowl-winning ways -- Antonio Pierce!

TMZ Sports talked to the former Giants running back, as the team begins its hunt to replace Brian Daboll ... after their eighth loss of the season on Sunday.

Jacobs says his former teammate, Pierce, with whom he won Super Bowl XLII, is the ideal choice for the high-pressure gig, believing AP's grit and toughness are exactly what the Giants need.

Everyone from Jon Gruden to Lane Kiffin's names have been bandied about in the wake of the Giants' firing Brian Daboll ... but former G-Men running back Rashad Jennings has his eye on another potential head coach with ties to the team -- Steve Spagnuolo!

"Out of all the coaches that have coached, I wouldn't be surprised if they asked Spags to come back to lock down that defense and get an offensive-minded coordinator to take over the offense," Jennings told Babcock, referencing the former Giants defensive coordinator (and briefly interim HC).

"But, you know, sky's the limit for them guys," Rashad added, alluding to the young talent on the Giants roster, including Cam Skattebo ... who is expecting to return to the field next season after suffering a gruesome ankle injury against the Eagles late last month.

Jesse Palmer acknowledges Cam Skattebo's injury was a huge blow to the New York Giants ... but he tells TMZ Sports the G-Men have a lot to be excited about going forward, thanks to the rookie RB and quarterback Jaxson Dart!

We spoke to Palmer, former Giants QB-turned-'Bachelor' host, at a Raising Cane's Halloween event this week, and Jesse made it clear the days of losing could soon come to an end.

"The organization did such a good job in the draft finding these young players that are impact guys, but not just impact on the field, they're impacting sort of the culture around that organization," Palmer said.

"Really unfortunate with the injury, but I think for the Giants fan, at least, looking ahead with those two guys they can build around."

In fact, Palmer -- who played for the Giants from 2001 to 2004 -- compared Skatt to one of his former teammates, Jeremy Shockey, who brought a similar fire and intensity to the Big Apple during his rookie season.

We also talked to Palmer about his alma mater, the University of Florida, which just fired Gators head football coach Billy Napier after a 3-4 start.

Palmer believes he knows who can step into the role and reenergize the program.

Good news for Cam Skattebo -- the New York Giants rookie sensation is set to be released from the hospital on Monday, according to his dad, who tells TMZ Sports he's already on the road to recovery!

We spoke with Leo Skattebo Monday morning, just about 24 hours after Skatt suffered a gruesome ankle injury during the second quarter of the Giants vs. Eagles game at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia ... and he told us the plan was for his son to be discharged later today.

Given the serious nature of the injury -- a dislocated ankle that required emergency surgery -- it's an encouraging sign that Cam will get to leave the Philly hospital for his bed at home.

Tom Brady might need to wash his mouth with soap ... 'cause the NFL legend-turned-broadcaster seemingly dropped an F-bomb live on TV while calling the Eagles vs. Giants game on Sunday.

The moment in question happened in the first quarter of the NFC East matchup in Philadelphia ... when the seven-time Super Bowl winner was praising Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts' running abilities.

Cam Skattebo -- the New York Giants breakout rookie running back who has electrified their offense -- was carted off the field after a big hit seemingly left his ankle facing the wrong way.

The 23-year-old fourth-round pick out of Arizona State University took the field against the Philadelphia Eagles ... and, as he was running over the middle on a passing route, when a ball came his way -- and an Eagles defender dragged him down from behind.

The NFL just handed down some hefty fines on the New York Giants, head coach Brian Daboll and rookie running back Cam Skattebo for violating the league's concussion protocol policy ... all for "creating the perception" they interfered with Jaxson Dart while he was being evaluated for a head injury.

It all stems from the team's Week 6 showdown against the Philadelphia Eagles ... when the Giants rookie QB was taken into the blue medical tent for a concussion test.

Only members of the medical staff and the unaffiliated neurotrauma consultant are allowed inside the tent. Daboll and Skattebo broke those rules ... which is a big no-no.

No surprise here -- the New York Giants released kicker Jude McAtamney after he missed two crucial extra points on Sunday ... and Big Blue fans didn't hold back when reacting to the news.

The G-Men made the roster move on Tuesday following their 33-32 loss to the Denver Broncos on Sunday ... with McAtamney's errors proving costly in the result.

This, of course, was just a few weeks after NY activated the undrafted kicker from the practice squad.

John Mara, the longtime owner of the New York Giants, just announced he was diagnosed with cancer ... while vowing to fight like hell and beat the disease.

70-year-old Mara, who also serves as president and CEO of the organization, did not specify which form of cancer he's battling.

"I have recently been diagnosed with cancer and have been following the treatment plan recommended by an outstanding team of doctors," Mara said in a statement released by Big Blue.

Is the Jaxson Dart era in New York starting too early? Justin Pugh certainly appears to think so ... as the ex-Giants star tells TMZ Sports he would have preferred it if the rookie didn't assume the QB1 role until next year.

N.Y. Giants rookie TJ Moore made the play of his short NFL life Thursday night ... only to suffer a devastating leg injury minutes later -- so gruesome, the cornerback had to be carted off the field.

It happened in the fourth quarter of Big Blue's preseason finale against the New England Patriots at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, when Moore was running down the field on kickoff coverage.

Moore's leg, after he planted it awkwardly, buckled ... bending in a very unnatural way.
