The former FedEx delivery driver who copped to kidnapping and killing a 7-year-old girl in Texas has been sentenced to death by lethal injection.

Tanner Lynn Horner learned his fate Tuesday when a Texas jury sentenced him to death.

He pleaded guilty to capital murder and aggravated kidnapping last month in the November 2022 death of Athena Strand.

Pima County Sheriff's Office We Worked With Feds ASAP, But Patel Wasn't There

The local sheriff's office tasked with investigating the Nancy Guthrie abduction is firing back at Kash Patel after the FBI director ripped them for their handling of the case.

Patel went on the "Hang Out with Sean Hannity" podcast and claimed Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos benched the FBI for the first four days of the investigation. Patel also took issue with Nanos sending critical evidence to a lab in Florida instead of the FBI lab in Quantico.

In response, the Pima County Sheriff’s Office tells TMZ … "Sheriff Nanos responded to the scene the night of the incident, providing immediate local leadership and oversight. A member of the FBI Task Force was also notified and present at that scene, working alongside our personnel. The FBI was promptly notified by both our department and the Guthrie family. While the FBI Director was not on scene, coordination with the Bureau began without delay."

The investigation into alleged cyberbullying tied to Darrell Sheets' death is still actively underway, even after officials confirmed he died by suicide ... TMZ has learned.

The Lake Havasu City Police Department tells TMZ ... they're continuing to investigate allegations the "Storage Wars" star was targeted online in the lead up to his death. Cops tell us their Criminal Investigations Unit has already submitted Sheets' cellphone for forensic analysis ... a key step in determining whether any online harassment may have played a role in his death.

We broke the story ... the Mohave County Medical Examiner's Office told us Tuesday they've officially ruled Sheets' manner of death a suicide, pending toxicology results.

Chris Brown Security Detail Terminated After Shooting at Singer's House

The man who was arrested after a shooting outside Chris Brown's Los Angeles home has been fired from his position on the singer's security detail ... TMZ has learned.

TMZ broke the story ... cops responded Friday to a shooting outside Chris' Tarzana property, where a man was taken into custody following a confrontation with a woman. Now we're told that person was on Chris' security staff.

Law enforcement sources tell us the man worked security for Chris and was stationed at the home when the situation unfolded, but we're told he's no longer part of the team following the incident.

Beverly Hills Car Chase Armed Suspect Arrested And Hostage Freed

An hours-long standoff finally came to an end early Monday morning when a man wanted for attempted murder of a cop was taken into custody following a SWAT team response ... hours after releasing a hostage from his truck.

Watch the video ... police say the standoff started when the suspect refused to get out of his truck Sunday afternoon ... hours after a traffic stop led to a deputy being clipped by a vehicle very early Sunday morning. And the suspect was holding a woman hostage inside the truck.

A SWAT team later responded, and the standoff lasted almost all night ... and you can see cops were shooting off flash-bangs.

The whole thing began around 3 AM Sunday morning ... a Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputy tried to detain a man during a traffic stop in an area of south L.A. ... that's when the unidentified man took off in his pickup truck and allegedly struck the deputy.

That prompted a warrant for attempted murder ... the deputy sustained minor injuries but was not hospitalized, according to ABC7.

ICE agents dragged a man out of a hospital in New York City Saturday night ... all while chaos broke out in the streets outside due to a mob of livid protesters.

The incident took place outside Wyckoff Heights Medical Center in Brooklyn ... when a pair of men dragged a dude out of the center ... having to physically carry him all the way to a black SUV at one point.

You can see it all in the clip -- Anti-ICE protesters had gathered outside the building ... where they began berating officers and trashing the area. Eventually, protesters got into a physical confrontation with the cops ... with the entire street descending into bedlam.

Church of Scientology Unruly Mob Breaks into NYC Building Injures Employee and Damages Property

A pack of unruly teens went wild inside a New York City Scientology building Saturday ... leaving a trail of damage and even injuring an employee in the process.

The terrifying incident went down at the Church's building on W 46th street -- just a few steps away from Times Square -- at around 4:24 PM, the NYPD tells TMZ. Officers responded to a call for a burglary in progress after the mob forced entry into the building through a side door, causing property damage.

Police say the caller -- a 30-year-old male -- was kicked in the leg and injured, but not hospitalized. The hoodlums fled before police arrived, and no arrests have been made. The investigation is still open.

The Church of Scientology tells TMZ the intruders broke a locked door to gain entry and in addition to injuring one of their employees, used a racial slur against another. They say the disruption "endangered staff, parishioners and visitors, including individuals attending a seminar at the time."

Jimmy Fowlie, a writer for "Saturday Night Live" whose sister has been missing for months, recently claimed cops told the family she's dead ... but Los Angeles police are calling that significant jump BS.

Here's the deal ... Christina Lynn Downer was last seen in L.A.'s Koreatown neighborhood four months ago ... and Jimmy has been giving updates on the search for her -- which included a jarring post yesterday stating cops allegedly told the family she's "no longer alive."

But now the LAPD is pushing back, telling TMZ ... “Robbery-Homicide Division continues to investigate the disappearance of Christina Downer. Although the circumstances of her disappearance are suspicious, Ms. Downer has not been located, and her case has not been reclassified as a homicide. RHD will diligently investigate this case until a resolution can be reached.”

In his latest post, Jimmy thanks everyone for their continued support and added ... "I'm gonna take a step back from social media due to the intense overwhelming feelings. Please take any info you may have directly to LAPD and not me."

We reached out to Jimmy for comment ... so far, no word back.

Celeste Rivas' parents were investigated over allegations of child neglect and abuse about a year before D4vd allegedly murdered the 14-year-old runaway, but law enforcement found no wrongdoing ... TMZ has learned.

When Celeste went missing from her family home Lake Elsinore, CA ... the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office tells us it opened an investigation that year on April 27. That was a couple weeks after Celeste was reported missing for the second time.

It's unknown who called to complain, but RCSD tells TMZ the person "expressed concern about a juvenile who had run away."

U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro is pulling back the curtain on a chilling alleged assassination attempt -- and she says the video leaves little room for doubt.

Pirro announced Thursday her office has released footage already submitted in federal court that appears to show suspect Cole Allen shooting a U.S. Secret Service officer during what authorities believe was an attempt to assassinate the President at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.

In the audio, dispatchers are heard describing a call they received, in which the caller claims a possible subject shot his mother-in-law. As we previously reported, the victim was confirmed to be Sweeney's step-grandmother, Gayle R. Wilson.

A Pennsylvania man killed his high school sweetheart, then took his own life in a shocking murder-suicide.

According to Pennsylvania State Police, 26-year-old Ryan Hosso shot his wife, Madeline Spatafore, inside their home in Butler, PA early Tuesday morning.

Cops say he called his parents and confessed to killing Spatafore. They say he also threatened to end his own life during the call.
