Mike Brown's seat on the New York Knicks' bench is anything but hot, despite whatcha might be reading online -- so says former star John Starks, who tells TMZ Sports the coach is SAFE -- no matter what happens in the playoffs.

We caught up with the former All-Star out in NYC ahead of the Knicks' Game 5 win over the Atlanta Hawks on Tuesday ... and asked about reports Brown could be coaching for his job this postseason run.

"No, no, there's nothing there," Starks said. "I know people are looking for something there. But there's nothing there."

Not a great look for "The Traitors" star Rob Rausch -- literally -- 'cause he’s on social media showing off some gnarly injuries after a brutal bike crash.

Check it out ... the reality star’s face was covered in cuts and gashes as he explained a dog ran out in front of him mid-ride -- sending him flying over the handlebars, knocking him out cold and leaving him with a concussion. Ouch.

Rob says it all went down while he was teaching a friend how to ride -- and had lent out his helmet -- which explains why he took the full hit.

Before fans could panic, Rob reassured everyone he’s gonna be just fine and on the mend.

Ex-Atlanta Hawks Vice President of Finance Lester T. Jones, Jr. has been sentenced to more than three years in prison ... after embezzling $3.7 million in team money and charging luxurious vacations and jewelry purchases to the company credit card, officials announced.

U.S. Attorney Theodore S. Hertzberg went IN on the 46-year-old former exec on Wednesday ... saying, "Jones turned his dream job as a high-ranking executive for the Atlanta Hawks into an opportunity to steal the team’s funds, purchasing luxury apparel, jewelry, watches, and trips for himself."

“But, for Jones and others who abuse their employers’ trust to embezzle substantial funds, the gravy train’s final destination is federal prison.”

Mike Vrabel isn't under fire everywhere ... the embattled Patriots head coach received an ultra-warm welcome at an event for season ticket holders Tuesday night, with fans making it clear they support him!

The 50-year-old Pats coach walked into a Q&A sesh with diehard Patriots supporters at Gillette Stadium last night and got a standing ovation right off the bat, with fans going crazy for Vrabel, according to Dave Portnoy.

Patriots reporter Mike Reiss MC'd the event and sat next to Vrabel on stage.

She kept things casual for the outing in a white puffer jacket and blue jeans while making a brief stop at Hip & Humble -- the same boutique where Mike reportedly purchased loungewear for her two days earlier. They have been married since 1999 and share two sons together.

Josh Mauro, a college football star turned 8-year NFL vet, died last week at the age of 35, his family announced on Tuesday.

The cause of death is not currently clear.

"With many tears and broken hearts, yet anchored in the unshakable certainty that our precious Josh Mauro is now healed and made new—living in the presence of the Lord—we humbly covet your prayers as our family walks through the devastating loss of our amazing son, brother, uncle, grandson and friend," Josh's dad, Greg, wrote on social media.

A photographer -- not a TMZ employee -- caught up with Vrabel at the Salt Lake City International Airport on Saturday ... and gave his best shot at getting a comment out of the former NFL pro.

NBA star Tristan Thompson is making moves to have his disabled brother, Amari Thompson, placed under his conservatorship ... TMZ has learned.

According to court docs, obtained by TMZ, Tristan -- who previously had Amari under a guardianship -- said he wants a conservator appointed to be in control of his young bro's records, to give medical consent, and make educational decisions.

Tristan also wants to control Amari's social and sexual contacts.
