L.A. Dodgers

Tap Lance Bass for LGBT Night

5/20/2015 1:25 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF
breaking news

0520-lance-bass-dodgers-TMZ-01The L.A. Dodgers have announced the team is bringing back LGBT night at Dodger Stadium next month ... with a bunch of huge stars including Lance Bass

It's the 3rd time the Dodgers are hosting the event -- all set to go down on June 19th when the Dodgers take on the San Francisco Giants.

The team says Lisa Vanderpump will throw out the first pitch.

Openly gay country music singer Ty Herndon will perform the national anthem.

Former Dodgers player Billy Bean -- who came out after his playing days were over -- will also be a part of the event.

The Dodgers say they are also partnering up with GYM Sportsbar -- the first and only gay sports bar in Los Angeles -- in promoting the event.

Yasiel Puig

Hits 1st Home Run

... Then Hits the Clubs!

4/13/2015 7:40 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF
EXCLUSIVE

Seems the "old" Yasiel Puig is finally coming back ... 'cause after a quiet, slumping, terrible start to the MLB season ... Puig hit his 1st home run of the year yesterday -- and then he hit the clubs!

The 24-year-old star partied at Greystone Manor in West Hollywood late Sunday night ... hours after his 1-5 performance helped the Dodgers defeat the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Puig is in a pretty nasty slump this season -- he's only 3 for 22 with a .136 average ... not ideal for a guy in a $42 million contract.

In the past, Puig's been a staple on the club scene -- and Dodgers owner Magic Johnson has said that he's totally cool with it as long as the team wins.

BTW -- Puig wasn't the only jock at the club last night ... Giants WR Odell Beckham Jr. was there ... so was NBA star JaVale McGee

Larry King

I Was At Jackie Robinson's

1st Dodger Game

4/5/2015 11:15 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF
EXCLUSIVE

This is pretty cool ... Larry King was at Ebbets Field on that historic day Jackie Robinson broke the color barrier in major league baseball ... and wait'll you hear how much he paid for a ticket to that game!

The 81-year-old news legend was out in L.A. this weekend when we made case for why he should be considered the greatest Dodgers fan of them all ... essentially the Jack Nicholson of the Blue Crew.

And the fact that he still vividly remembers what happened in Brooklyn on April 15, 1947 ... almost 68 years ago -- you'd be hard pressed to find any other fan who bleeds this kinda blue.

Evelyn Lozada

Gets Reality Show w/ MLB Fiance

... And Hot Daughter

breaking news

0325_evelyn_lozada_Carl-Crawford_2Evelyn Lozada is getting back into the reality TV game -- starring in a brand new series with her MLB superstar fiance Carl Crawford ... TMZ Sports has learned.

Lozada spent 5 seasons on "Basketball Wives" before taking a hiatus from reality ... but now she's hooked up with Oprah Winfrey's OWN Network as star and exec producer of "Evelyn" (working title).

Sources connected to the show tell us the series will focus on Evelyn's relationship -- and raising their 1-year-old son ... while already being a parent to a smokin' hot 21-year-old daughter, Shaniece.

0325-SUB-evelyn-shanieceh-instagramSo far, no word if any of Crawford's L.A. Dodgers teammates are scheduled to appear on the show ... but with attention-loving stars like Yasiel Puig on the Blue Crew ... we wouldn't rule it out.

Tommy Lasorda

TURN DOWN FOR WHAT!?

3/17/2015 7:08 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Here's Tommy Lasorda ... bumpin', grindin' and singin' ... to the Lil Jon classic, "Turn Down for What" ... and it's glorious.

Sure, he's 87-years-old ... but it's clear the L.A. Dodgers legend doesn't plan on slowing down any time soon -- remember, this is the guy who hit a burlesque show just a few weeks ago.

No word on what inspired the 1-man dance party ... but who cares -- get it Tommy.

Nods Off at Hot Burlesque Show

0222015_tommy_lasorda_launch_v2L.A. Dodgers legend Tommy Lasorda sat front row for a smokin' hot burlesque show at an L.A. blues club Thursday night ... but he wasn't gettin' off ... he was nodding off.

It all went down at Harvelle's Blues Club in Santa Monica ... where a dancer named Miss Dakota set the stage on fire in front of Tommy and several of his friends.

We're told Tommy's wife was not at the club -- but she had nothing to worry about because Lasorda was more interested in talking with his friends and taking the occasional nap than ogling the talent.

Tommy hasn't let his age keep him from hitting the club scene -- the 87-year-old hit up Bootsy Bellows nightclub on the Sunset Strip back in April.

Dodgers Star Adrian Gonzalez

Puig Puts Ketchup on Sushi

... For Real!

12/10/2014 6:15 AM PST BY TMZ STAFF
EXCLUSIVE
121014_adrian_gonzalez_launchThey say you shouldn't knock something 'til you try it ... but this sounds gross -- Yasiel Puig puts KETCHUP on his sushi.

Ketchup. And raw fish. Together.

At least, that's what Puig's L..A Dodgers teammate Adrian Gonzalez told us last night when we asked if anyone on the Blue Crew had any weird superstitions or habits before a game.

But after some brief Internet research, it appears Puig's not alone in his big red habit ... in fact, one food blog praised the combo as a "hidden culinary connection."

So, you gonna try it or what?

Yasiel Pui
g's legendary partying ways don't ever take an off-season -- 'cause the Dodgers superstar got crazy for his 24th birthday this weekend, turning up with some huge stars at a Miami club.

It all went down at Liv ... where Puig and his buddies rubbed elbows with some of the biggest names in hip hop including DiddyDJ Khaled (also celebrating a birthday), Rick Ross and Miguel

But despite the competition, our sources tell us Puig outpartied EVERYONE ... slamming Hennessey (dat Hen Dog) with his pals all night long.

As one source put it ... "They shut the club down."

Fun Fact -- Drake would have been at the party (thrown by Mike Gardner & Headliner Marketing Group) ... but Diddy socked him in the face outside the club as Drake was trying to walk in.

Bummer man.

1114_Yasiel_Puig_Japan_vacation_Photos_launchYasiel Puig has landed in Japan ... and the guy's LOVING IT.

The L.A. Dodgers slugger is part of an MLB All-Star team that's taking on the Japanese national team in a 5-game series ... but when he's not on the field, Puig's been taking in as much culture as he can.

"We visited some temples, that was a very spiritual experience," Puig tells TMZ Sports ... "We took the bullet train from Osaka to Tokyo, very cool."

"I have not been shopping yet, but I will go here in Tokyo."

Puig says he's a HUGE fan of sushi -- and has been scarfing up as much raw fish as he can get his hands on ... saying, "I LOVE IT!"

Puig and his MLB All-Star teammates are reportedly getting $100k each for participating in the series.

Talk about a paid vacation.

Dodgers Star Hanley Ramirez

My Lambo Spits FIRE!

L.A. Dodgers star Hanley Ramirez wanted a hot car ... so he got one that SHOOTS FIRE!!!!

TMZ Sports has learned ... Hanley dropped around $550k for a white 2014 Lamborghini Aventador -- but wanted to make it stand out ... so he went to The Auto Firm in Miami and upgraded the exhaust to one that spits flames.

We're told Hanley has already shipped the car back to Los Angeles -- so if you see a pimped out fire-breathing white Lambo on the 405 ... it's probably best not to tailgate.

Magic Johnson's Daughter

I THINK DAD'S HANDLING DODGERS LOSS WELL

'I Don't Really Watch Baseball'

EXCLUSIVE

Another reason to love Magic Johnson: He's not forcing his kids to watch baseball -- even though he OWNS the Dodgers ... so says Magic's daughter Elisa

The 19-year-old was out at a birthday party in Beverly Hills when we asked how her father was doing after the Blue Crew was bounced from the MLB playoffs earlier this month.

That's when Elisa hit us with a refreshing dose of honesty -- "My dad is probably doing really well ... I don't really watch baseball."

The best part -- her friend has NO IDEA her dad has a relationship with the team either ... and she has to explain that Magic "owns like part of [the Dodgers]."

The Game

Warns Cardinals Fans

Careful Where You Wear RED in L.A.

Cardinals are red ...
Dodgers are blue ...
But be careful where you rock those colors ...
Or it could mean THE END of you.

At least, that's what The Game told us out in L.A. the other day -- when he warned Cardinals fans that sporting RED in certain parts of town could be bad for your health.

Game is clearly referring to the Bloods (red) vs. Crips (blue) rivalry ... telling us:

"It depends on where you out out here ... because the Cardinals are red ... you get caught slippin' in the wrong hood, it might not be about baseball. It might be about baseball bats."

Consider yourself warned.

Dodgers Star Andre Ethier

'This Town Might Burn Down'

EXCLUSIVE
100314_andre_ethier_launch
Los Angeles should brace itself ... 'cause if the Dodgers win the World Series, "this town might burn down" ... so says Dodgers superstar Andre Ethier

The outfielder was out at Madeo last night -- takin' a bunch of people out for a pre-playoff game dinner -- when we asked how he was going to celebrate if when the Dodgers win the Series.

"This town might burn down, eh? But we'll address that when that happens," Ethier joked.

Sure, he was kidding ... but let's get serious -- it's a legit concern ... especially after the Lakers NBA Championship riots of 2000 ... and 2009 ... and 2010.

But it won't happen a 4th time ... will it?
