Halle Berry got her kiss back from Adrien Brody ... planting one on the Academy Award winner's lips in a callback to a viral moment during the 2003 ceremony.

The two stars hit the Oscars red carpet Sunday night ... and, in the middle of one of Brody's many interviews, Berry interrupted -- and pulled the star in for a passionate embrace.

Unphased, Brody kissed her back ... before the two broke apart and hugged. Halle then told the assembled crowd that she "had to pay him back."

Morgan Freeman paid tribute to Gene Hackman during the Oscars on Sunday ... remembering Gene as an actor who elevated everyone else's work -- and won the hearts of film lovers of all over the world.

The veteran actor came onstage before the in memoriam section kicked off to talk about his costar who passed away last week.

Freeman mentions the the two movies he and Gene worked on together -- "Unforgiven" and "Under Suspicion" ... and said Gene helped elevate the work of the entire cast and crew on both sets.

Conan O'Brien's clearly not afraid of ruffling some feathers at the Academy Awards ... 'cause he took a shot at Karla Sofía Gascón during his monologue -- reminding everyone about her controversial tweets.

The famous talk show host took the stage Sunday night and delivered a speech full of jokes about some of Hollywood's biggest players ... including a shot at Timothée Chalamet's bright yellow suit and a spoof of "The Substance" where he climbed out of Demi Moore's skin.

In the middle of all that, Conan joked that "Anora" features the f-word and variations of it 479 times ... which is just three more than the number Gascón's publicist used after she found out about Karla's tweets.

Kylie Jenner showed up to support her man, Timothée Chalamet at the Oscars Sunday -- locking lips with the star as he aims to become the youngest best actor winner in history.

Diane Warren says if she finally wins an Oscar after her past 15 "Best Song" nominations this weekend, she'll probably collapse with excitement -- literally!

TMZ caught up with the legendary songwriter ahead of Sunday night's show, and Diane admits she’s not sure if she’ll have a speech ready if her song "The Journey" wins from the movie "The Six Triple Eight" -- joking she’ll probably not be conscious to hit the stage.

Gene and Morgan of course starred together in the Clint Eastwood classic "Unforgiven" ... for which Gene scored his second Oscar. Morgan wasn't nominated for the flick, but took home his own Academy Award in 2005 for "Million Dollar Baby."

Harrison Ford has had a change of plans ... and he will no longer be presenting at the Oscars after being diagnosed with shingles, TMZ has confirmed.

The "Star Wars" and "Indiana Jones" icon is skipping Sunday's big event altogether so he can rest at home.

Ford dropped out of the event Saturday morning ... EW was first to report the news.

Gabriel Iglesias is all in for Conan O’Brien’s Oscars debut this weekend, saying there’s no better man for the mic -- he’s the one to keep the show in check!

We caught up with Gabriel in NYC, and he addressed jokes falling flat in previous years on the big stage, assuring us there’s no need to worry this time -- Conan's a total pro when it comes to keeping the crowd laughing.
