Mark Sanchez's family is breaking its silence for the first time since Saturday morning's stabbing incident ... saying the former star quarterback continues to receive medical care, while also thanking fans for their support.

"This has been a deeply distressing time for everyone involved. Mark and our family are incredibly grateful for the concern, love, and support we’ve received over the past few days," Mark's brother, Nick, said in a statement to TMZ Sports.

"Mark remains under medical care for the serious injuries he sustained and is focused on his recovery as the legal process continues. We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the first responders and medical staff."

Intense police body camera footage shows the moment cops in Michigan took out the gunman who shot up a Mormon church ... and there's a hail of bullets.

The Grand Blanc Township Police Department just released the dramatic footage, and you hear cops shouting at the gunman to drop his weapon.

Officers are heard yelling "shoot him," "get on the ground," and "drop the gun now" before gunshots ring out. Cops armed with assault rifles were making their way through the church parking lot when they neutralized the shooter.

Mark Sanchez is now facing a lawsuit stemming from Saturday's stabbing incident ... with the alleged victim targeting both the former quarterback and his employer.

The docs were filed on Monday ... with delivery driver Perry Tole suing Sanchez for assault/battery and Fox for negligent hiring, retention, and supervision.

In the suit, Tole states Sanchez appeared intoxicated and instigated an altercation the night of the alleged attack ... and claims he suffered severe permanent disfigurement, loss of function, other physical injuries, emotional distress, and other damages in the violent incident.

Mark Sanchez appeared to be in a world of pain after Saturday's stabbing incident in Indianapolis ... with new surveillance footage showing the bloodied former quarterback holding his torso and struggling to walk right after his altercation with a delivery truck driver.

The 38-year-old ex-New York Jets star was captured on video around 12:30 AM ... right after his violent confrontation that resulted in his hospitalization with multiple stab wounds.

In the clip, obtained by the NY Post, Sanchez turns a corner to make his way down a sidewalk ... and it's clear he was struggling.

Here's the 911 audio from the "swatting" call at D4vd's family home in Texas ... and it sounds like the person phoning in a bogus report of a fatal shooting is using a special device to mask their voice.

TMZ obtained audio from last month's swatting incident ... and you hear the caller, seemingly using a voice-changer, claim they heard gunshots outside D4vd's home.

The caller tells the dispatcher they think someone is dead because they heard a female scream ... and they give D4vd's Texas address and confirm it later on the call.

10:44 AM PT -- Mark Sanchez's team requested to waive his initial court hearing slated for Tuesday ... stating upon acceptance, he will enter a not guilty plea.

8:04 AM PT -- Mark Sanchez is now facing a Level 5 Felony battery involving serious bodily injury charge ... which carries a penalty of one to six years behind bars, Marion County Prosecutor Ryan Mears announced minutes ago.

Mears explained that upon receiving further information on the alleged victim's condition, it was clear the more severe charge was necessary. According to the amended probable cause affidavit, the alleged victim suffered a "severe laceration to the side of his face, penetrating all the way through his left cheek" ... and stated the pain he experienced eventually reached a 10 on a scale of 1-10.

IMPD Chief Chris Bailey added Sanchez won't get any special treatment ... saying, "I don't care who you are, I don't care what you do for a living, I don't care where you live -- if you come into our city, commit violence, we will use all the tools at our disposal to hold you accountable."

Bailey said given the cases that have unfolded in recent years, "we're lucky that no one's dead right now" due to a knife being involved.

Local cops and officials are about to address the late-night stabbing incident involving Mark Sanchez ... with a press conference slated to go down in a matter of minutes.

The alleged victim in the Mark Sanchez stabbing incident is doing "OK" after the violent altercation, according to the truck driver's family, who provided a brief update on Sunday.

The family of the alleged victim -- who sustained a deep laceration to his face -- spoke with the NY Post after photos of the 69-year-old's gruesome injuries shocked the internet.

"He's OK," the family said.

The man who stabbed Mark Sanchez -- allegedly in self-defense -- was badly injured himself ... with new photos capturing the extent of the damage.
