American tourists are hoping they can make it back home alive from Mexico after the country fell into complete chaos following the killing of an infamous drug trafficker by government forces, assisted by the United States.

On Sunday, several tourists took to social media to tell their personal horror stories about being stuck in Mexico following the assassination of Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, better known as El Mencho, the leader of Jalisco New Generation Cartel or CJNG.

Mexican authorities, assisted by their U.S. counterparts, killed El Mencho in a military operation, also on Sunday, sparking total mayhem in the streets of Puerto Vallarta, Chapala, Guadalajara and other places.

The notorious Jalisco New Generation Cartel reportedly began a ruthless attack on Puerto Vallarta, Mexico over the weekend following the killing of the crime organization's leader.

Drug kingpin Nemesio "El Mencho" Oseguera Cervantes was reportedly slain by army forces Sunday which unleashed a retaliatory strike, obliterating part of the popular resort town of Puerto Vallarta with assaults also being launched at Guadalajara International Airport and the state of Veracruz, according to local outlets.

Devastating images shared online showed buses, churches, and entire blocks engulfed in flames. The US State Department even advised American tourists to shelter in place, according to The Post.

Shia LaBeouf bought a house for just over a million dollars in New Orleans months after his split from Mia Goth -- a fresh start he hoped would mark a new chapter -- TMZ has learned.

Sources familiar with the situation tell TMZ ... following the breakup last year, Shia packed up his Los Angeles life and relocated to the Big Easy in December. We're told he purchased a 3-bedroom, 3.5-bath Uptown cottage for just over $1 million, about 20 minutes from the French Quarter. Our sources say the move was intentional ... he told people locally he wanted to "reset and refocus."

Family played a major role. Shia is extremely close with his dad Jeffrey, who lives in the area, and we're told the two regularly hit local bars together. Our sources say being closer to him was a priority.

The cause of death of Tommy Lee Jones' daughter, Victoria Jones, has been released --  officials confirm to TMZ she died from the toxic effects of cocaine.

The San Francisco Chief Medical Examiner also determined Victoria's death was accidental.

TMZ broke the story -- Victoria, the daughter of Tommy and his first wife, Kimberlea Cloughley -- was found dead in the upscale Fairmont San Francisco hotel on New Year's Day.

New South Wales Police say officers were patrolling the Dreamstate music festival at Sydney Olympic Park Saturday when several attendees suddenly began suffering what authorities described as “medical episodes.”
