A private search party discovered the body of "Alaskan Bush People" star Matt Brown in a Washington river following a days-long search after he was reported to have ended his life.

The group of private citizens conducted their search in the Okanogan River and came across his body on Saturday, the Okanogan County Sheriff's Office announced. His body is now in the care of the Okanogan County Coroner, where cause and manner of death will be determined.

We told you on Saturday Matt's clearly shaken brother, Bear Brown, confirmed he was deceased ... adding he never imagined his brother would hurt himself.

Matt Brown -- the reality star who appeared on almost 80 episodes of "Alaskan Bush People" -- has died, according to his brother.

Bear Brown just posted a TikTok with the sad news ... and he's clearly still very shaken up, saying he never imagined his brother would hurt himself, confirming Matt took his own life.

Bear asked people to be respectful and kind ... and not leave nasty comments since the family is still reeling from the tragedy.

TMZ obtained dispatch audio from the initial search for Brown's body -- you can hear responding personnel note his backpack was uncovered while his gun was thought to be in the water ... and that his body was not with it. They also ordered a search boat and dive team.

The mystery surrounding former “Alaskan Bush People” star Matt Brown is only growing more complicated ... because authorities say they've suspended their search for an unidentified male seen in Washington’s Okanogan River.

According to the Okanogan County Sheriff’s Office ... deputies, Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife personnel, divers, sonar teams, boats, personal watercraft, and even a cadaver dog spent Friday searching an expanding section of the river near Oroville, WA.

Despite the extensive effort, officials say no trace of the male was found.

The sheriff’s office says river conditions worsened throughout the day after rainfall increased water levels and current speeds, creating dangerous conditions for search crews. Investigators now believe the active river flow increases the possibility the individual is no longer near the area where he was last seen.

Matt Brown's brother was seen talking with police near the Washington river where an unidentified man disappeared as authorities continue searching for answers in the mystery surrounding the former "Alaskan Bush People" star's whereabouts ... TMZ has learned.

Sources familiar with the situation tell TMZ ... Gabe Brown was seen at the river location Thursday speaking with authorities. We're told law enforcement first spoke with Gabe on Wednesday as part of its ongoing investigation.

We broke the story ... sources told us last week Gabe is the only family member who occasionally still communicates with Matt, though we're told their contact is rare.

A family member says they saw Matt Brown near the Washington river where an unidentified man later disappeared ... and the sighting happened just hours before police launched a search.

The former "Alaskan Bush People" star's relative tells TMZ ... they spotted Matt around 8 AM Wednesday near Driscoll Island Wildlife Area off Highway 97 in Oroville, Washington ... less than a mile from where a witness later reported seeing a man swept away in the Okanogan River.

According to the relative, the location is a campground and fishing hole Matt is known to frequent. The family member also tells us Matt owns a firearm.
