Jess and John: "In Repair?"

Published | Updated

People reported that Jessica Simpson and borefriend John Mayer have split -- again. Shocker.

Mayer's crisscrossing the country on his "Continuum" tour, but it seems that having Jess tag-along has grown tiresome for the Rolling Stone "Guitar God." Paging all groupies! After his tour, Mayer plans to go back to the studio for his next album. Maybe he'll go back to Jess too! Maybe not.

Cameras caught a tight-lipped Jessica last night at Japanese restaurant Celadon in L.A. Mayer will be rocking back-to-back shows at the Hollywood Bowl this weekend. Will Miss Simpson appear to see if Mayer asks her to "Come Back to Bed?"

Larry and Laurie David Curb Their Marriage

Published | Updated

Crankypants "Seinfeld" co-creator Larry David and tree-hugging activist wife Laurie David are calling it quits on their marriage.

Larry and Laurie have separated after 14 years -- and two children -- according to Page Six. Though the Post's report says that the official word is "very amicable, and no other parties are involved," the announcement follows closely upon "An Inconvenient Truth" co-producer Laurie's well-publicized tour of the US with rocker Sheryl Crow, who just adopted a child.

David made an estimated $200 million on "Seinfeld." Laurie's "An Inconvenient Truth," the enviro-crusading documentary, has made an estimated $24 million since its release a year ago.

A rep for the Davids would not comment, adding they do not discuss the personal lives of their clients.

Anne Heche Fires Back: He Watches Porn All Day!

Published | Updated

Just days after Anne Heche's estranged husband filed court documents alleging, among other things, that Anne is an unfit parent to the couple's five-year-old son Homer, the actress fired back with a few stunning allegations of her own.

According to documents filed May 18 in Los Angeles County Superior Court, Heche alleges that rather than being Mr. Mom, soon-to-be ex Coley Laffoon "plays ping-pong, backgammon, poker, and views pornography online" all day while their son is at preschool or with nannies and babysitters. Heche also claims that when Laffoon came to visit her on the Vancouver set of "Men in Trees" with their son, he "bragged to me and other cast members on the set about going to strip clubs and that he knew each joint in town."

Heche also says she was "surprised and disappointed" when Laffoon outlined an incident where he claimed she exhibited "bizarre and delusional" behavior. She says the truth is that it was Coley's fault she was confused about where her connecting flight was, as he had "neglected to call or get a copy" of her flight itinerary as he had promised to do.

Heche also claims that when she confronted Laffoon about the public accusations he was making and the negative press it was attracting, Laffoon responded, "Bring it on! Let the press come to our house! I welcome it!"

John Mayer Negotiating with Aliens?

Published | Updated

John Mayer, newly busted-up borefriend of Jessica Simpson, was spotted in NYC today, ranting on his cell phone about an alien hostage situation and helicopters ... and about needing some pizza!?!

Obviously pulling the collective leg of the stalkerazzi, Mayer wouldn't answer questions about his widely reported split with the cleavage queen Jessica, but instead put on quite a show for photogs following him.

Mayer doesn't appear to be too heartbroken, but then again, he's quite a kidder.

Reese's Estranged Hubby Wants ...

Published | Updated

Ryan Phillippe has fired his shot off the bow in his divorce with Reese Witherspoon.

TMZ has obtained court documents, filed this week in Los Angeles County Superior Court. Phillippe wants to make a clean break from the marriage. He is not asking for spousal or child support. All he wants is joint custody of the two kids.

Witherspoon filed divorce papers last November, citing irreconcilable difference. She asked for joint custody, and also asked the judge to block any attempt on Phillippe's part to get spousal support. Reese also wanted "exclusive use of the family residence."

TMZ first reported that the former couple did not sign a pre-nup, which means their assets acquired during the marriage will be divided even-steven.

The Public Affair Is Over

Published | Updated

It appears that the epic romance of Jessica Simpson and John Mayer has run its course. Please ... contain your surprise.

As first reported by Perez Hilton, Jess and John have indeed split. TMZ cameras caught a solo Mayer at NYC hotspot Stereo last night, looking just fine on his own. Get in line ladies, he's single again.

As for the reason for the, er, bustup, a rep for John refused to comment on the Grammy winner's personal life, as did Jess' rep.

Could it be because he's on the Time 100 Most Influential list having conversations with presidential hopeful John Edwards while she's pushing her hair extensions? Hmmm...

Some things just weren't meant to last.

Stylist Sues Oprah's 'Color' Claims It's Too White

Published | Updated

A former stylist and dresser for Oprah Winfrey's "The Color Purple" is suing the Broadway show -- produced and presented by the media queen herself -- after she was fired, she says, for daring to suggest that there weren't enough people of color working for the show.

TMZ has just obtained a lawsuit filed by Shawnique Hill in a Manhattan federal court. She alleges that during her employment she raised the issue with one of the bosses that, "while the talent employed onstage was a cast of African American actors ... the crew hired backstage was Caucasian with the exception of three persons of color." What's more, she claims that her direct supervisor -- a Caucasian -- addresssed her as "sister" and "girlfriend," which offended Hill, who is black.

Hill claims the production retaliated against her for the comment, harassing her, and ultimately firing her. Hill seeks unspecified damages.. Oprah was not individually named in the suit.

UPDATE: A rep for "The Color Purple" tells TMZ, "We can confirm it is in litigation. We are confident there has been no violation of law."

Bobby Brown Sues Whitney Houston

Published | Updated

Don't be cruel! Bobby Brown filed a lawsuit against ex-wife Whitney Houston to change the terms of custody of their teen daughter, Bobbi Kristina.

In court documents filed in Orange County yesterday, Brown explains that he was just too screwed up after the breakup to properly handle a custody battle. "After Whitney and I separated, I had nowhere to go and very little money to live on. I was, for all intents and purposes, homeless." That's why he failed to respond to Whitney's petition for custody in time, and why she was ultimately deemed the primary parent.

In Brown's court filings yesterday, he begged the courts to reconsider, saying that, "I believe I have a wonderful relationship with my daughter Bobbi Kris -- a relationship that I would like to see strengthen and grow." That's his prerogative!

Paris and Elliot Mintz Back in Business

Published | Updated

Paris Hilton didn't last more than a couple days without her mainstay publicist and trusted advisor Elliot Mintz by her side, and the quickly reconciled pair stepped out last night outside of chez Hilton.

It appears that Paris taught Mintz one of her favorite moves -- the time-honored cell-phone-as-paparazzi-avoidance technique -- demonstrated here to perfection by Mintz.

It's been a tumultuous five days for Hilton and Mintz. In court Friday, Paris blamed the PR guru for misinforming her about her suspended license, then the judge called Elliot's testimony "worthless." Then, the pair announced a separation, briefly ending one of the most visible publicist-client relationships in all of celebdumb, er, celebdom.

But today, Mintz tells TMZ that he and Paris "met last evening and agreed to continue our professional relationship ... I shall continue to respect and support her as her media rep and friend." It's hard out here for a Mintz!
