Jackie Mason -- How Dare You Say I'm Racist

Published | Updated

Comedian Jackie Mason was pissed Sunday as he left a gig in New Jersey, in the wake of criticism that he was wrong to have called President Barack Obama a "schwartza."

TMZ posted a story yesterday about Mason's performance Thursday at Feinstein's at the Loews Regency in NYC. He referred to the Prez as a "schwartza" -- the literal translation in Yiddish is "Black" -- but some say it's a disparaging reference to African Americans, akin to the "N" word.

Mason repeated his frustration -- he believes "White people have no freedom of speech." He also says there's a complete double standard -- that Chris Rock can trash whites without apology or criticism.

Al Sharpton still respects his elders -- even the ones who call him a "professional racist." In fact, he blames Jackie Mason's age for the entire racially charged mess the comedian got himself into.

Even though Mason chose to attack The Rev hours after calling Obama a "Schwartza" this weekend, Sharpton was cool at LAX, clasping his hands together and saying, "At this stage in Jackie's life, we should pray for him."

Amen.

Jackie Mason: Obama's a "Schwartza"

Published | Updated

Comedian Jackie Mason used what some say is a racial epithet in describing President Barack Obama during his act Thursday night, infuriating at least several people in the crowd.

During a performance at Feinstein's at Loews Regency in NYC, Mason referred to Obama as a "schwartza" -- some say it's equivalent to the "N" word -- others say it's just part of the Yiddish culture and a literal translation of the word "Black."

We're told one person walked out fuming, "He's more offensive to the Jews than Madoff tonight."

We spoke with Mason by phone a few minutes ago, and he was outraged at the criticism, saying, "I'm not going to defend myself. Chris Rock has told a lot more jokes about whites than I have against Blacks. What about the demeaning words Blacks say about Jews?"

Mason added, "If it's a racist society, the white people are the ones being persecuted because they have to defend themselves." Mason called people like Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson "professional racists."

Mason added, "I'm an old Jew. I was raised in a Jewish family where 'schwartza' was used. It's not a demeaning word and I'm not going to defend myself."

And there was this parting shot: "I'm more talented than Oprah Winfrey and look at how much she makes. I can't even make a living."

UPDATE:
Rev. Al Sharpton just sent us this statement:

"At this stage in Jackie's life and career he should get our prayers more than our responses. It is sad that maybe he forgot he used the same term against Mayor David Dinkins when he was elected the first African-American Mayor of New York City and got in trouble for it. As for him attacking me, maybe he forgot that he has had me on his TV show and has taken me to dinner and commended me for forgiving a white male who tried to kill me by stabbing me while I was leading a non-violent march. I'm sure Jackie just forgot."

Hunter Tylo Forgives and Forgets

Published | Updated

Hunter Tylo filed legal papers last year claiming her boyfriend abused her children -- but all is well now, at least according to her.

In the legal papers, filed in L.A. County Superior Court, Tylo claims her daughter told the family doctor that Corey Cofield was "yelling at her and her sister and hitting them with a belt." The daughter also says Corey made them do "excessive push ups," making them stay in push up position for 20 minutes.

Hunter also claims Corey once trapped her in her bedroom and grabbed her by the throat, "hard."

Corey denied all the allegations, but the judge granted the restraining order in May. In October Hunter had the order terminated, claiming he "has actively been taking parenting classes and has attended family and couple's therapy."

"The Hills" Accused of Being Really, Really Trashy

Published | Updated

The people behind "The Hills" are in a legal war over the live season finale -- accused of being even trashier than the people on the show.

The guy who owns the Beverly Hills mansion where MTV shot the "Live from the Hills Season Finale" claims when he rented the place out for the show in 2008, he was promised it would be returned in "the same condition." What he got back, he claims, was a disaster area.

According to a lawsuit filed today in L.A. County Superior Court, Igor Greenberg claims MTV and New Productions Inc. "caused extensive damage to the property in at least the amount of $158,250.07" -- and he wants them to fork over the cash.

Sure, it's meaningless, stupid drama -- but so is everything else that has to do with that show.

TMZ Saves Andy Dick from Imminent Arrest

Published | Updated

Andy Dick had a warrant out for his arrest -- for a crime he didn't commit -- that is, until yesterday, when TMZ stepped in and unintentionally helped Dick get off.

Here's how it all went down: On February 6th, a Riverside County judge issued a bench warrant for Dick when Andy's court-ordered alcohol monitoring bracelet (SCRAM) tested positive for booze.

Andy is still on probation for that drunken fight at a chicken wing joint last year, so a positive booze test means he could have been arrested and hauled off to jail.

Andy says he never took a drink, and claimed booze on the floor of a comedy club must have set off the device -- but who's gonna believe that guy? Turns out, Dick was right.

When TMZ called the people who monitor the SCRAM they told us Andy's SCRAM turned in a "less than .02" reading, which, according to that group, means environmental circumstances probably DID cause the positive reading. The group incorrectly reported the incident as a "violation."

The court never noticed the mistake, until we started making calls on the situation. Eventually, we spoke to the DA, who informed us that the judge had rescinded the warrant -- because of the new information provided by yours truly.

To reiterate the important part -- we didn't mean to get Andy Dick out of trouble, it just happened that way.

Sorry.

Jamie Spears -- Britney Is Hard Work

Published | Updated

Jamie Spears says taking care of Britney is more than a full time job, and that's why the court is giving him $16,000 a month.

In a declaration to the conservatorship commissioner filed Friday, Jamie wrote that he engages in 200 - 400 communications every day to coordinate all things Brit -- not including Fanta orders. Jamie says he's overseeing Britney's tour that kicks off tonight, and must coordinate Brit's "medical, health, business, costuming, personal, security, household staff, and legal matters (touching upon entertainment, music, family law litigation, the resolution of numerous disputes, and the ongoing litigation and conservatorship matters."

Jamie says he works 60 - 70 hours a week to keep things afloat.
