Mexican pop star Paulina Rubio was so determined to prove her husband's a bad father ... she hired a freaking private eye to track his every move -- TMZ has learned.

According to court docs, Rubio filed an emergency motion in Miami last month to strip estranged hubby Nicolas Vallejo-Nagera of all custody rights.

Rubio claims she hired a private investigator ... who exposed Nic as he "repeatedly demonstrated detrimental behavior and a lack of parental responsibility." This includes:

-- Taking the kid outside while he was sick (she asked him not to)
-- Refusing to change his diaper all day
-- Leaving him in his carriage totally unsupervised
-- Smoking around him again and again

Rubio claims Nic showed a "total disregard" for their son -- but according to the docs, they eventually struck a compromise in which Nic agreed to keep a nanny around while he watched the kid.

Just in case anyone forgot, Jennifer Lopez proved she's still bootyful last night.

The 43-year-old curvaceous diva showed off her God given talents at the premiere of her new film "Parker" in Vegas.

Villaraigosa was in D.C. leaving an interview with "Face the Nation" when he was asked to clarify what really went down in Mexico with the "Anger Management" star.

Villaraigosa's version: He and Charlie met for a quick three-minute chat, snapped a photo together and NOTHING more.

Charlie's version: The mayor's straight-up lying ... the two of them spent hours partying and boozing with hot chicks in his hotel room -- and that's where they snapped the infamous Twitter pic (below).

In the video, Villaraigosa clearly doesn't want to answer the question. But what's interesting is what he doesn't say ... specifically, he NEVER once denies the actor's claims.

TMZ broke the story ... Vanessa -- through her lawyer, disso-queen Laura Wasser -- filed to end her marriage in December, 2011. Several months later ... Kobe -- in an attempt to win her back -- deeded over his interest in their 3 Newport Beach mansions.

Since she filed, Vanessa and Kobe were on-again, off-again like high school students.

But in the last month ... they got very tight. A turning point seemed to be the 12-12-12 Hurricane Sandy relief concert at Madison Square Garden in NYC, when the two left arm-in-arm. They spent New Year's Eve together, were spotted at lunch and have pretty much been inseparable.

There have been reports that Kobe is getting back with Vanessa because it's cheaper to keep her ... but that's just not true. Fact is ... we've checked property records and Vanessa still owns 2 of the Newport Beach mansions -- she just sold the third for $3.2 mil. We don't know for sure, but it seems like Kobe may have signed a post-nup, giving Vanessa more financial leverage in the relationship.

Demi Lovato is rich and famous, and can afford to live just about anywhere she wants ... but we've learned she's been living in a fairly spartan sober living facility for more than a year.

It's actually pretty awesome ... Demi does not want to fall back into the grip of addiction, where she found herself back in 2010, when she admitted she had problems with anorexia, bulimia and cutting.

After going to rehab, the 20-year-old seemed better, but ultimately felt she needed the support and guidance from counselors and other addicts who understood her situation.

Sources tell us ... shortly after her inpatient rehab, she moved into a facility in the L.A. area. It's interesting ... considering she also owns a very nice home in L.A..

We're told during the entire season of "X Factor" Demi felt it was best to come home to the facility, where she wouldn't lose her way.

As for how long she'll stay there ... it's undetermined.

In a town with a lot of stars who never figure it out, it's pretty amazing when you see someone as young as her make such good decisions.

Family members of the people who perished alongside Mexican singer Jenni Rivera in a gruesome plane crash last month have just filed a lawsuit -- blaming the plane's owners for negligence ... and they're also going after Jenni's company for money -- calling the plane "a bucket of bolts."

Relatives of Arturo Rivera (Jenni's publicist), Jacobo "Jacob" Yebale (her makeup artist), Jorge Armando Sanchez Vasquez (her stylist), and Mario Macias Pacheco (her lawyer) have filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Starwood Management, the owner of the Learjet that was carrying Jenni and her entourage when it crashed into the mountains of Northern Mexico, killing everyone on board.

According to the lawsuit, the families claim Starwood negligently allowed the plane to take off that fateful day -- among other things, they say the 78-year-old pilot was not licensed to fly "passengers for hire." They also say the pilot didn't have an instrument flight rule license, something that was necessary at 35,000 feet.

The families are also suing Jenni Rivera's company for the same negligence. They want unspecified damages.

As we reported the DEA has been investigating Starwood Management and its planes for a while now, and even seized two of the company's planes early last year.

Jenni's plane -- a 1969 Learjet 25 -- had reportedly logged 43 years worth of flights and been previously damaged in an accident back in 2005. An exec at Starwood said the plane was perfectly maintained.

Charlie Sheen is covering a huge chunk of the funeral costs for the paparazzo who died while covering Justin Bieber ... cutting a $12,000 check to the photog's family ... TMZ has learned.

We broke the story ... 29-year-old Chris Guerra died after being struck by a car in Los Angeles on New Year's Day while taking pictures of Bieber's car. We're told Guerra will be laid to rest in a private service set for tomorrow

Turns out, Charlie is tight with a former photog who was friends with Guerra ... and got word that the family was trying to raise money to cover the costs. So Charlie, being Charlie, sprung into action and grabbed his checkbook.

We contacted Sheen about the situation, and the actor gave us the following statement: "A tragic incident like this erases the line between the photographer and the subject. It's an unforgiving moment that begs us all to be human and work as one to prevent this in the future."
