Patrick Mahomes dominated the NFL for eight seasons since being drafted in 2017 ... though if he listened to the advice he got from Alex Rodriguez as a 10-year-old boy, we may have seen him running around a baseball diamond instead!

A-Rod revealed the decades-old story during an interview with Jimmy Fallon on "The Tonight Show" Sunday, where JF dug up an old photo of Rodriguez and Mahomes from Alex's playing days with the Texas Rangers, when he was teammates with Patrick Mahomes Sr.

The 50-year-old then told a story about advice he gave Mahomes ... who had been peppering him for days, looking for wisdom from the baseball great.

The organization announced the news via a public statement Thursday afternoon ... writing that Alex and his wife Kayla are navigating this difficulty. The team is sending thoughts to the Vesias during this troubling time.

Grey Flannel Auctions tells TMZ Sports ... its newest lot features the Hall of Famer's rookie jersey, which was photo-matched to his second-career game in 1947 -- the same year the Yankees won the World Series.

It looks like Kurt Suzuki's going to be putting on a Los Angeles Angels uniform again ... because he's reportedly set to serve as the team's next manager.

Sources spoke to ESPN and claimed the athlete has been called up to lead the team, which hasn't made it to the postseason since 2014.

Kurt spent a total of 16 seasons playing catcher in the MLB, and he was part of the Washington Nationals when they won the World Series in 2019.

The athlete spent his final two years as a player with the Angels, and he was later hired as a special assistant to the team's general manager, Perry Minasian.

Although former Angels Albert Pujols and Torii Hunter were reportedly in consideration for the gig, Kurt apparently came out on top.

He'll be replacing Ron Washington, who had to sit out much of the 2025 season to deal with health issues.

It's worth mentioning Suzuki doesn't have any professional coaching experience -- meaning he'll have to learn how to handle a team on the job.

The team shared a photo of Montero to X Sunday morning ... writing, "The Yankees are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Jesús Montero. We send our sincerest condolences to his family & loved ones."

The Seattle Times -- citing Venezuelan outlets -- reported earlier this month that Montero was driving a motorcycle in his home country when he was hit by a pickup truck. He was rushed to a hospital in the city of Valencia. Newsweek reported he was intubated at the hospital.

A Milwaukee Brewers fan who quipped that she was going to "call ICE" on a Latino Dodgers supporter at a playoff game earlier this week has reportedly lost her job.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel stated on Wednesday Shannon Kobylarczyk's employer, Manpower Group, parted ways with the woman after she was seen on video making the comment to Ricardo Fosado during Tuesday's Game 2 of the NLCS at American Family Field.

Additionally, the outlet reported Kobylarczyk resigned from the Make-A-Wish Wisconsin board of directors after the incident.
