Jeffrey Louis Starr -- a former child actor -- has died ... TMZ has confirmed with multiple family members.

Starr passed away last month ... with a family source telling us he took his last breath in a hospital in Carbondale, Illinois surrounded by loved ones. We're told he dealing with an illness before he died.

Jeffrey's brother, Kevin, and sister-in-law, Michele, posted on social media after he passed ... remembering Jeffrey as someone who gave great hugs, had a big heart and seemed to make and have friends at just about every place he walked into.

We know it's been 22 years since the mother-daughter duo switched bodies and had to fill each other's lives while working out their personal differences -- but the fandom for the movie stayed strong, and their patience is being rewarded with a sequel to the 2003 flick!

Horror auteur Eli Roth's latest project will strike a chord with fans of murder, because it's a trailer for a movie about a killer who uses pianos to make people B-flat.

Okay, "The Piano Killer" isn't a real movie (yet), but the trailer will play in theaters exclusively before screenings of "Jimmy and Stiggs," the first movie from Roth's media company The Horror Section, that opens in theaters Friday, August 15.

"J&S" is an insane, over-the-top alien invasion splatter flick, which Roth describes as "'Evil Dead' if it starred Cheech and Chong." And it's the only place you can see "The Piano Killer" trailer theatrically (along with another mystery fake trailer), which by our account, contains the most realistic depiction of piano murder ever committed to film.

Tom Hanks is saying farewell to late Apollo 13 astronaut James Lovell ... who Tom famously played on the big screen.

In 1995's "Apollo 13" Tom plays Lovell, who died Thursday at 97.

Tom is remembering Lovell in a heartfelt post on social media, saying ... "There are people who dare, who dream, and who lead others to the places we would not go on our own. Jim Lovell, who for a long while had gone farther into space and for longer than any other person of our planet, was that kind of guy."

John Leguizamo isn't pulling a Dean Cain and volunteering with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement ... he says that's for losers.

The actor hopped on social media Friday and blasted the 'Lois & Clark' star for supporting ICE, volunteering to become an officer and helping boost their recruiting numbers.
