Robbie Williams is feeling minty fresh ... because he says that's what fell on his mic live on air in a viral moment from the World Cup final ... and not nose candy, as some speculated.

Here's the deal ... the UK superstar was doing an interview with German TV during the big game between Spain and Argentina when a speck of white substance flew from his face onto the mic. He picked it off, held it in his hand and then rubbed it on his forehead.

Folks online claim the white substance came falling out of his nose ... but a closer looks reveals the chunk came out of his mouth.

Robbie posted a video Monday leaning into the cocaine speculation ... and made it sound like he was about to make a deep confession -- before laughing it off and showing a couple mints on his tongue.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration claims one of its recent tests on Taylor Farms products came back as a false positive ... amid the concern over the diarrhea-causing parasite cyclospora.

The FDA revealed it had alerted Taylor Farms that a sample it took that came back positive during an initial exam ... actually ended up being a false positive.

The FDA says it double-checked the test samples on lettuce from Taylor Farms de Mexico, resulting in a "false positive" for the parasite, which causes explosive diarrhea and other gastrointestinal issues ... according to a new report.

After the results turned out to be bogus, the FDA fell on its sword. Taylor Fresh Foods, which owns Taylor Farms, told Newsweek that the FDA apologized to them, saying there was no cyclospora found in the sample.

A BBC commentator was anything but "Happy" with his celebrity identification skills during the World Cup Final ... mistaking Pharrell for A$AP Rocky -- and somehow bungling Rocky's name in the process.

The hilarious flub came about 15 minutes into Sunday's showdown between Spain and Argentina ... when cameras cut to Pharrell sitting in the stands at MetLife Stadium.

BBC play-by-play man Guy Mowbray took a crack at identifying him, saying ... "I think that is AKA Rocky" ... before quickly correcting himself, "Or A$AP Rocky, sorry."

A shocking car chase in Los Angeles ended in a gunfight between LAPD officers and a suspect ... and the whole thing was caught on body cam and dashcam video.

The incident took place on a sunny L.A. afternoon on June 9 in the east Los Angeles neighborhood of Boyle Heights ... kicking off when officers sidled up next to a truck -- and the driver gunned it out of there.

A wanted man took his escape attempt way off-road Thursday morning ... leading LAPD officers on a foot chase before diving into the Pacific Ocean and trying to swim his way out of an arrest.

Take a look at the video ... the suspect is swimming off Will Rogers State Beach when L.A. County Lifeguards roll up and grapple with him in the water ... eventually loading him onto a L.A. County Sheriff's Department boat.
