TIME100 Sports Gala just got 100 times cooler ... as some of the biggest names in sports rolled into New York -- with one hoops legend arriving like royalty.

The red carpet took place in NYC on Thursday night ... and, as you can imagine, the biggest man in the room -- maybe literally -- was none other than LeBron James!

He and Savannah pulled up to the gala yesterday like a pair of smooth operators ... dressed in simple, bold black.

Of course, they weren't the only ones making a bang from the NBA world ... new champ and finals MVP Jalen Brunson was there with his wife Ali, regular season MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, and Rookie of the Year Cooper Flagg were all there, too!

Claude Lemieux's wife was concerned about his behavior in the months leading up to his death ... with officials detailing a confrontation about the late NHL star's sobriety hours before he took his own life.

Officials released the incident report on Claude's tragic death on May 28 ... in which his son, Brendan, explained the family had noticed a change in his dad's behavior over the past year -- and they were concerned he might have relapsed after 12 years of sobriety.

When Claude's wife, Deborah, confronted him on May 27 about her concerns, the report states he acknowledged he relapsed ... and Deborah told him to leave the home at 10:30 PM.

German influencer Laura Viktoria Härtig is dead after reportedly being involved in a head-on bike collision during her honeymoon.

Laura's Instagram page announced her death on Sunday ... and according to Italian outlets Trentino and il Dolomiti, she died from injuries she suffered 19 days earlier when she crashed into former Olympic skier Peter Runggaldier while they were biking on a mountain pass in Northern Italy.

The reports say the crash was so bad Laura's bicycle split in two ... and she had to be resuscitated at the scene before being airlifted to a local hospital.
