Chris Brown's avoiding jail time after pleading guilty to his involvement in a UK club fight ... and the decisive sentence has caused serious debate.
The argument went down on Monday's episode of "The Low Down," the new YouTube collab between TMZ and the New York Post, where we give you the inside scoop on the biggest stories that are gripping, outrageous, and scandalous.
As we reported ... the singer-songwriter received an 8-month suspended sentence after pleading guilty to affray -- a criminal act involving a fight or the threat of violence by two or more people that disturbs the public peace -- after he hit a man with a tequila bottle. His codefendant, Omololu Akinlolu, also avoided jail time.
Chris Brown dodged jail time for a brutal nightclub beatdown ... and now shocking video has surfaced showing the singer allegedly smashing a music producer with a tequila bottle.
The wild footage shows Brown going after Abraham Diaw on a packed London dance floor ... repeatedly swinging the bottle at him, including blows to the head, before the attack turns into an all-out brawl.
Brown can be seen striking Diaw several times before his friend and vocal coach, Omololu Akinlolu, jumps into the fray ... grabbing the producer and throwing punches of his own.
Chris Brown received a get out of jail free card from a judge after he pleaded guilty to repeatedly hitting a producer with a bottle in a London club back in 2023.
The R&B singer made an appearance Monday in Southwark Crown Court to be sentenced for the assault of his ex-pal, former Abraham 'Abe' Diaw, on a dancefloor at Tape nightclub in Mayfair, London, in February 2023.
The judge handed Chris an eight-month suspended sentence after he pleaded guilty to affray -- a criminal act involving a fight or the threat of violence by two or more people that disturbs the public peace.
Scottish pop band Chvrches says it's being threatened with gun violence and rape after ripping Marshmello's collab with Chris Brown ... but they say the reaction kinda proves their point.
Chrvches recently slammed Marshmello for working with CB and Tyga, saying they had big problems with the DJ partnering up with artists who the band says are "predators and abusers" of women ... and now the lead singer says she's getting death threats for speaking out.
Lauren Mayberry went on a long rant before Chvrches kicked off its headlining set Saturday night at the Fortress Festival in Texas ... explaining why the band went after Chris in the first place, and why she thinks it's "morally dubious" for musicians to work with artists who have a history of violence.
As you know ... Brown pled guilty to felony assault of Rihanna back in 2009, and he's the subject of an ongoing lawsuit over an alleged rape in Paris.
Waiting for your permission to load the Instagram Media.
The back-and-forth beef between Chvrches and Brown started Thursday, when the band called out Marshmello for producing a track with CB and Tyga called "Light it Up." Chvrches and Marshmello recently worked on a song together.
Brown fired back on Instagram, calling the band a "BUNCH OF LOSERS" and wishing they "walked in front of a speeding bus full of mental patients."
Now, the simmering beef has apparently escalated into fans threatening to rape and shoot Lauren ... and she says that proves her entire point.
Chris Brown went off on the valet parking attendant outside TAO Los Angeles, threatening to put hands on the guy for some reason.
Chris and a group of friends were leaving the hot spot Thursday night, when he got into an argument over the service charge. We don't know the numbers, but it's clear Chris thinks he's being rooked because he says, "I should knock you out."
CB, standing inches from the guy's face, says the only reason he isn't throwing down is because there are too many cameras around. He eventually forks over some dough, but also issues a final threat.
As Chris put it ... there's gonna be a sequel between himself and the valet.
The whole scene reminded us of another run-in Chris had 5 years ago at PINZ bowling alley in Studio City. No violence that time either, but man, does Breezy have parking lot issues!
Chris Brown's gonna take a huge hit if a Tampa club has its way -- it wants the singer to give back the $30k it paid because he bailed on his appearance after allegedly punching the club's photographer.
Club sources tell us CB was hired to perform for an hour but stayed only 5 minutes.
TMZ broke the story ... Chris and his entourage got into an all-out brawl after the singer became enraged photos were being snapped. The photog's adamant he was just taking crowd shots.
The club concedes Chris could have bounced and kept the money if he felt unsafe, but the club says he started the fight so he had couldn't have been that scared.
The club's reached out to Chris' camp for the loot but so far no word back. Sounds like this will be the latest CB lawsuit.
Chris Brown and Soulja Boy are gearing up for a bloodbath in the ring, but for various reasons they can't pull it off in the U.S. ... so we've learned they're planning to fight it out in Dubai.
Sources connected with both Chris and Soulja tell TMZ they genuinely dislike each other and each wants to beat the crap out of the other, but what they want more than anything is a huge paycheck by running the fight on Pay-Per-View.
The initial plan was for a Vegas fight, but we've learned there are several rules and regs that would make such a fight impossible there, not the least of which is a mandatory drug test for amateur fights ... which both Chris and Soulja know they would never pass.
We're told their plan is to take the fight overseas -- first choice Dubai -- and they believe the Pay-Per-View audience would rake in untold millions of dollars.
Both Chris and Soulja have talked about making this a charity fight, but we're told some of the money will line their pockets.
4:00 PM PT -- Mokrani doesn't know what the hell Chris is talking about ... he tells us he was NOT working security at the club.
8:55 AM PT - Chris Brown posted on social media and said Mokrani was a security guard who assaulted him and tried to kick him out, so his team "handled the situation accordingly."
Chris Brown exploded in anger and stomped on a man's head during a concert ... and the victim is now gunning for some justice.
Malek Mokrani attended a Brown concert in Cannes on May 18 ... it's clear a fight erupted and something clearly upset Chris, because you see his shoe turn into a weapon.
It's unclear if Mokrani was involved in the fight or just collateral damage.
He tells us he went to the hospital with neck and head pain and plans on filing a police report.
We reached out to Brown's rep. So far no word back.
Hip hop producer Mally Mall played a key role in settling Drake and Chris Brown's longstanding feud ... because he brought them together at his house in Las Vegas.
When we caught up with Mally in L.A. ... he said "the past is the past" for Breezy and Drizzy, and that Rihanna's name never came up during their recording sessions in Mally's home studio.
They've come a long way from 2 years ago when they destroyed W.i.P. Nightclub in New York in an all-out brawl over RiRi -- but Mally says ... "We squashed the beef."
Mally -- who's new release "Mally's World" drops next month -- did have one comment about Rihanna "acting like a jump off."
Mortal enemies Chris Brown and Drake proved their long-standing ... and sometimes violent Rihanna beef may finally be over for good -- and they might be sealing the truce with new music.
Drake posted a pic last night of himself and Chris in a recording studio -- and Breezy looks like he's LOVING whatever music they're listening to at the moment. Could a post RiRi collabo be coming?
The peace has been brewing since last April when we spotted Chris in a club dancing to "Started From the Bottom" -- but, yeah ... they've come a really long way.
Chris Brown did NOT admit he assaulted the alleged victim in his D.C. criminal trial.
Mark Geragos Tells TMZ ... when Brown admitted to a probation violation Friday in the Rihanna case ... it did NOT constitute a confession in his assault case. Geragos says all Brown did was admit he violated probation in D.C. -- he was not more specific.
Geragos tells us ... HE -- not Chris -- conceded there was a factual basis to conclude his client violated probation based on the police report.
What's more, Geragos says there's no way the D.C. prosecutor could use Brown's admission as a confession, because the standard of proof in a criminal case is much higher than in a probation hearing.
Geragos says he merely told the Rihanna judge it's "more likely than not" that Chris screwed up in D.C. In a criminal trial, the prosecutor must show Chris screwed up beyond a reasonable doubt.
As we reported ... even though Chris was ordered to serve another 131 days behind bars for the probation violation ... with time served and jail overcrowding, he could get out in a matter of days.
Chris Brown just checked into the "Four Seasons" of jails ... and good news/bad news -- he gets to shower as much as he wants!
Chris arrived in Washington, D.C. after a 5-day trek from California courtesy of Con-Air.
An administrator at Northern Neck Regional Jail in Virginia confirms Chris is currently an inmate -- and he's quick to add Chris isn't getting special treatment.
Chris has been placed in limited general population with no restrictions -- meaning he gets to enjoy all the amenities of the facility, including:
-- Daily showers -- TV -- Library -- Telephone -- Exercise -- Meals in the cafeteria
Chris Brown learned a lesson this week ... what it must have been like travelling across the country by stagecoach ... because four days into his journey he is still not in Washington D.C.
TMZ broke the story ... Brown was taken from his L.A. County jail cell Thursday by U.S. Marshals for the cross country trip.
We're told he made several stops along the way and typically when a prisoner lands he is taken to a nearby jail to wait for the next available flight.
Brown's lawyer Mark Geragos will be in a D.C. courtroom Monday trying to get his client's case dismissed on grounds of grand jury misconduct. It's unclear if Chris will make it to the hearing.
Brown will stand trial April 17th for allegedly assaulting a man outside a D.C. hotel.
A typical commercial flight from L.A. to D.C. takes 4 hours and 40 minutes.
Chris Brown will stink to holy hell ... because he's only allowed one shower every two days.
According to our sources, Brown -- who will sit in jail until April 23 -- is in solitary confinement 23 hours a day ... which means he won't have a cellmate to disgust with his vile odor.
We're told Brown is allowed to work out in his cell and can read library books.
Brown was hauled back to jail after getting thrown out of a rehab facility in Malibu. The judge wants him behind bars until the D.C. assault case runs its course in mid-April. And, if he's convicted, Chris could be transferred to prison for violation probation in the Rihanna case.
Washington D.C. police are on the hunt for security video that could prove to be the smoking gun in the Chris Brown assault case ... and the people who make your money may hold the key.
We've learned ... Metro Police have contacted businesses near the spot where Brown allegedly punched a guy in the face ... to see if security cams caught the fight on tape. But so far they've come up goose eggs.
Sources tell us ... the W Hotel -- where the fight occurred --- has cameras ... but they were not pointed in the direction of the melee. And we're told cops also struck out at a neighboring restaurant.
But ... our sources tells us the U.S. Dept. of Treasury -- located directly across the street from the hotel -- has numerous cameras attached to the building that could have captured the scene. Any video from those cameras would be in the hands of the Secret Service ... which handles security.
We talked to officials at the SS ... who are tight-lipped about their security measures ... neither confirming nor denying there is video ... or even if they would share it with local police in a misdemeanor case.
The Secret Service -- charged with protecting the President of the United States -- could end up protecting Chris Brown from being sent to prison ... TMZ has learned.
Here's what we know. According to official D.C. documents -- obtained by TMZ -- a witness to the fight early Sunday morning told cops he heard the alleged victim tell a D.C. cop Brown NEVER HIT HIM.
The cop later DENIED ever even speaking with the witness in question. But get this. A Secret Service agent -- who was on duty and in uniform patrolling the streets near the White House -- made contact with D.C. police and told them he happened to be around when the victim told the cop Chris never struck him. The agent says he absolutely heard the victim's admission to the cop that Chris never struck him.
This is doubly helpful for Chris. The Secret Service agent's testimony could destroy the credibility of the alleged victim and cause prosecutors to drop the misdemeanor assault case.
It could also save Chris from the more serious probation revocation in the Rihanna case -- and remember, if the judge revokes Brown's probation, he could go to prison for 4 years.
