Bette Midler is remembering Diane as "brilliant, beautiful, extraordinary ... hilarious, a complete original, and completely without guile, or any of the competitiveness one would have expected from such a star."

Writer/director Paul Feig says, "She was an amazingly kind and creative person who also just happened to be a Hollywood legend."

Lostprophets singer Ian Watkins, a convicted pedophile, was killed in a prison attack in the United Kingdom.

Multiple reports out of the UK on Saturday say Ian died after being attacked in jail by a knife-wielding inmate.

Ian was serving a 29-year prison sentence at HMP Wakefield after being convicted on child sex offenses ... including the attempted rape of a baby.

Argentine singer and former model Fede Dorcaz was tragically shot and killed just days before he was set to appear on a Mexican dance competition show.

The 29-year-old was reportedly attacked during an attempted robbery Thursday night in Mexico City, shortly after leaving dance rehearsals to drive home.

According to the Mexico City Secretariat of Public Safety, Dorcaz was shot in the neck while trying to exit a road and died instantly at the scene.

Varinder Singh Ghuman -- a well-known Indian bodybuilder and actor -- suddenly passed away on Thursday at only 42 years old.

Ghuman's nephew confirmed the sad news to reporters, saying his uncle suffered a medical emergency while he was being treated at a hospital for a shoulder injury.

After his sudden death, Ghuman's family raised questions about what happened ... leading the hospital to release a statement on the incident, explaining that Ghuman had a sudden cardiac arrhythmia while under general anesthesia.

Thousands of fans -- including several big-name celebs -- lined the streets of Manchester on Friday to pay homage to the late Ricky Hatton.

Tyson Fury and his brother, Tommy, were two of the most notable who hit the boxing legend's funeral ... but Amir Khan, Frank Bruno and Conor and Nigel Benn all showed face to pay respects as well.

Hatton, as you know, passed away just a few weeks ago at the age of 46.

John Lodge, the legendary bassist and singer from The Moody Blues, has died.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer's family announced the news in a lengthy Facebook statement Friday ... saying his death was unexpected but he "peacefully slipped away surrounded by his loved ones and the sounds of The Everly Brothers and Buddy Holly."

His cause of his death was not disclosed.

Loyola-Chicago legend Sister Jean -- who became a national sensation as the chaplain and superfan of the university's men's basketball team -- has died.

Loyola University Chicago announced in a statement Sister Jean Dolores Schmidt passed away on Thursday.

Mark C. Reed -- the university's president -- says, "In many roles at Loyola over the course of more than 60 years, Sister Jean was an invaluable source of wisdom and grace for generations of students, faculty, and staff."

Susan Newman -- daughter of legendary actor Paul Newman -- has died ... according to an online obituary.

Newman passed away back in August -- though the obituary was only posted online earlier this week -- from "complications from chronic health conditions."

Susan was born to Newman and Jackie Witte in 1953, the second of three children the couple had.

Ron Dean, famous for his work on "Risky Business" and "The Breakfast Club," is dead.

The veteran actor died Sunday at a hospital in Chicago ... according to Maggie Neff, Ron's partner of 40 years.

The cause of death is unclear, but Maggie tells us Ron has been battling a long illness.

Arturo Gatti Jr. was found dead in his apartment this week at just 17 years old ... in a scene eerily similar to the death of his father, boxing great Arturo Gatti.

Chuck Zito, Gatti's former bodyguard (and actor and stuntman), broke the shocking news on social media Wednesday morning ... announcing the teen's tragic death.

"It's with a heavy heart that I have to say,.... R.I.P. to 17-year-old ARTURO GATTI JR. who was found hanging in an apartment in Mexico yesterday. The same way they found his Father dead in an apartment in Brazil 16 years ago," Zito wrote.

Tina’s niece, Jacqueline Bullock, tells TMZ ... Ike Jr. died Saturday at a Los Angeles hospital from kidney failure. She says he'd battled severe heart issues for years, and we're told his health had been declining for some time. He also recently suffered a stroke in early September.

Born in 1958 to Ike Sr. and Lorraine Taylor, Ike Jr. was adopted by Tina early in his life and grew up amid his parents' whirlwind music career.

Kimberly Hébert Gregory, best known for her scene stealing roles in "Vice Principals", "The Chi" and "Five Feet Apart", has died.

Her ex-husband, Chester Gregory, confirmed the news Saturday on Instagram, sharing a heartfelt tribute to Kimberly. He reflected on their bond, calling her "so much more than an ex-wife" and describing their son as a living reminder of her light, laughter, and brilliance.

Gregory went on to thank Kimberly for the time they shared, saying her life was defined not by struggle but by the grace and beauty she carried. He ended his message with ... "Rest in power, rest in peace ... you are deeply loved. Kim, you did good."

Over her decades long career, Kimberly built an impressive resume ... appearing in hit TV shows like "Gossip Girl," "Grey's Anatomy," "Brooklyn Nine-Nine," "Shameless," and "The Big Bang Theory."

On the big screen, she stared in "I Think I Love My Wife," Spike Lee's "Red Hook Summer," "Five Feet Apart" and "Miss Virginia."

Kyren Lacy's lawyer says his client was nowhere close to the car cops accused him of crashing into ... citing surveillance video and data he says the local district attorney's office uncovered.

Lacy's lawyer -- Matt Ory -- sat down for an interview with the local channel HTV 10 in which they showed a video of the LSU wide receiver's bright green Dodge Charger.

Ory shared a video which shows one car crashing into another ... which he claims is a driver colliding with Herman Hall -- the 78-year-old killed in the accident.
