The legendary actress passionately defended the former CNN anchor outside the federal courthouse where Lemon had a court hearing after his arrest for allegedly breaking up a church service ... and she told assembled protesters not to fall for the government's tricks.

Fonda says Don was just a journalist doing his job ... no more, no less -- and certainly no reason for the feds to lock him up.

Catherine O'Hara suffered a medical emergency at her Los Angeles home Friday ... and dispatch audio obtained by TMZ reveals she was having difficulty breathing before being rushed to the hospital.

First responders were called to the actress' Brentwood home around 5 AM Friday and O'Hara was then transported to a hospital, where she was listed in serious condition, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department. Hours later, the legendary actress was pronounced dead.

TMZ broke the story ... multiple sources told us O'Hara passed away. A cause of death hasn't been revealed. Page Six was first to report the news of her hospitalization.

Kenan Thompson is being dragged to court by a landlord, who claims he owes over $34,000 for breaking his lease on a rental home.

According to a new lawsuit, obtained by TMZ, the 'SNL' star is being sued for allegedly breaching a 12-month lease for a 3-bedroom rental property in Los Angeles.

In the docs, the landlord claims they entered into a written lease agreement with Kenan in September ... they say the lease started October 1 and Kenan agreed to pay the $10,250 rent for a year before the lease would go month-to-month.
