Jason Momoa is recalling a scary surfing incident in Hawaii ... he says he almost drowned in 10-foot waves.

The "Aquaman" star was on the "Smartless" podcast with Will Arnett, Jason Bateman and Sean Hayes when he told the story of his near-death experience while doing a grueling open-ocean paddle off the coast of Maui.

Jason says he was on a 13-mile paddle near the famous Jaws surf break with big-wave surfers Laird Hamilton and Dave Kalama in 2007 when, halfway through, his leash snapped and the wind pushed his board out of sight.

It may be a pirate's life for Johnny Depp ... because one of the most powerful men in Hollywood thinks the actor would be open to returning to the 'Pirates of the Caribbean' franchise.

Mega producer Jerry Bruckheimer just revealed Johnny seems open to reprising his role as Captain Jack Sparrow in a sixth 'Pirates' flick ... on one condition.

Bruckheimer told Entertainment Weekly he's talked to Johnny about a new 'Pirates' movie and says, "If he likes the way the part's written, I think he would do it. It's all about what's on the page, as we all know."
