Ray J suffered a setback in his legal battle with his ex, Kim Kardashian, and her mom, Kris Jenner ... the judge just shut down his attempt to get their defamation case against him tossed out of court ... TMZ has learned.

According to court docs, obtained by TMZ, a Los Angeles County Superior Court judge denied Ray J's attempt to dismiss the defamation and false light claims brought by Kim and Kris.

You'll recall ... Kim and Kris sued Ray J, claiming he harmed their reputations by making false statements about them … specifically, that they were under some sort of federal racketeering probe and that it would be worse than Diddy.

Kim Kardashian had some real drama over the weekend ... a suspect allegedly burglarized the reality star's L.A. mansion and took her staffer's car for a joyride before getting arrested.

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ ... the 27-year-old man showed up Sunday afternoon at Kim's Hidden Hills estate, which is under renovation, and forced his way inside through a door.

We're told Kim and her kids are NOT living on the property while the home is under renovation.

Our sources say the man took items from Kim's house and loaded them into a vehicle.

We're told the man also got behind the wheel of a car belonging to a Kim staffer and took it for a spin around the neighborhood.

Kylie Jenner's longtime bestie Stassie Karanikolaou was noticeably absent from the reality star's 29th birthday celebration ... amid speculation the longtime gal pals may have hit a rough patch.

According to new legal docs obtained by TMZ, a judge ordered a 3-year protection order against Kyle Robert DeWick -- a Colorado man Kris Jenner previously described as a "stalker" with "no relationship whatsoever" to her or her family.

The order protects Kylie, Kendall, Kim, Khloé and Kourtney, Rob, and Kris ... and it says DeWick must stay at least 100 yards away from all of them. He is also to have zero contact -- physical, digital, phone or snail mail -- with any of the family.

North West has pulled the plug on two of her upcoming tour dates, days before she was scheduled to hit the stage, TMZ has learned.

North was all set to hit the stage for her first performance on August 5 with rapper Molly Santana in Dallas, Texas. But, according to Ticketmaster, the show is now canceled along with their August 17 concert in Toronto, Canada.

Here's the deal ... a man named Ivan Cantu sued Kim after she posted his photo when she meant to post the photo of a prisoner with the same name … in an effort to argue for the inmate to be taken off death row. Ivan lost his lawsuit and was ordered to pay Kim's legal fees, but said doing so would financially ruin him.

A legal rep for Kim tells TMZ ... "This is a lawsuit that should never have been filed. The Court agreed and threw it out and ordered that [Ivan Cantu] pay Kim's legal fees. Kim agreed to waive those fees and so [Ivan] has dismissed his case with prejudice."

Kris Jenner's mom, Mary Jo Campbell, better known as MJ, died of acute cardiopulmonary arrest ... according to her death certificate.

A copy of the certificate, obtained by Us Weekly, revealed that acute respiratory failure and metastatic lung cancer also contributed to her death.

According to the certificate, MJ had been fighting lung cancer for months before she passed ... but it's unclear when exactly she was diagnosed.

Kris Jenner and the crew took over the bar at La Valencia Hotel in San Diego's swanky La Jolla neighborhood -- one of the family's longtime favorite spots -- Sunday for an intimate three-hour Celebration of Life.

Ahead of the service, Kendall Jenner and Jacob Elordi were spotted boarding a private jet to San Diego alongside Kylie Jenner and Timothée Chalamet.
