Metta World Peace Balls In Lithuania?! LaVar's a Genius!!!

12/12/2017 2:34 PM PST
EXCLUSIVE

Metta World Peace thinks LaVar Ball's move to ship his kids to Lithuania is "extremely brilliant" -- telling TMZ Sports he's putting the boys in the BEST possible position to succeed.

And yeah, he'd dead serious.

Metta played in both China and Italy during his pro career -- and told us going overseas will help LaMelo and LiAngelo Ball develop their game faster than they would have in the U.S.

"If it wasn't for a lack of fundamentals in the AAU system, then yeah, I would say just stay here. But overseas, the coaches are way more advanced. They give you a bit more freedom to play."

Metta also says the league in Lithuania is top-notch -- and will force the Balls to step up their game in a big way.

Here's LaVar Ball talking about the biggest BBB news yet -- the move to Lithuania ... telling TMZ Sports he doesn't give a single DAMN about the language barrier.

LaVar was with LiAngelo and LaMelo -- the newest members of Prienu Vytautas -- and the Big Baller told us he's not worried about ANYTHING when it comes to shipping his sons to Lithuania.

"There's not gonna be a struggle at all," LaVar said.

His kids weren't as talkative -- but LiAngelo nodded when asked if he was excited about his new contract.

EXCLUSIVE

DeAndre Jordan paid ex-Clippers teammate Matt Barnes the ultimate compliment just hours after his retirement ... saying he's one of the best dudes he's EVER shared a locker room with.

"That's one of the best teammates I've ever had," DeAndre told TMZ Sports on his way outta The Nice Guy in L.A.

DJ's hooped with some serious talents on the Clips -- Chris Paul, Blake Griffin and Baron Davis, to name a few --  but it's clear he's got a special bond with Barnes ... his LAC bro for 3 seasons.

FYI, Matt hung up his sneakers in a social media post on Monday ... and even though he had a bad-boy rep, he's earned a TON of respect from DeAndre and other NBA stars through the years.

LiAngelo & LaMelo Blessing from Lithuanian NBA Star ... 'It's a Perfect Fit'

12/12/2017 12:45 AM PST
EXCLUSIVE

If anyone can tell us what it's gonna be like for LiAngelo and LaMelo Ball to play in Lithuania, it's NBA big man Jonas Valanciunas ... who's actually PLAYED in the league where the Balls are headed.

Valanciunas -- the 5th overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft -- is a Lithuanian legend ... he won the LKL Lithuanian league championship in 2010 and is a 3-time Lithuanian Basketball Player of the Year.

So, when we saw Jonas in Bev Hills on Monday (his Raptors are in town to play the Clippers) -- we had to ask if he thinks the Balls will thrive in his home country

"Great fit in Lithuania," Jonas says ... "perfect country for those guys."

Jonas says people shouldn't be concerned for the Balls -- his country is safe and the food is great.

Try the cepelinai ... it's delicious!

LiAngelo and LaMelo Ball 'It's Not About the Money' in Lithuania

12/11/2017 5:34 PM PST
Breaking News

LiAngelo and LaMelo Ball are breaking their silence about their new venture -- signing with a Lithuanian pro basketball team -- and they insist the money has nothing to do with it.

The Big Baller Brand tweeted photos Monday of LiAngelo and Lamelo signing contracts, saying "It's not about the money for the Ball Brothers."

BBB goes on to say ... "They have a passion to play Basketball and to experience playing as pros was the Goal. They have accomplished this mission and are excited to be playing on the same team to top it off. The Big Baller way!"

LiAngleo and LaMelo each signed a 1-year contract with a first division Lithuanian team. According to reports, they're not expected to make more than $500 a game.

LaVar has previously said the ultimate goal is getting the boys to the NBA ... and he's hoping Lithuania is the right path.

The Balls are expected to report to camp in Janaury.

LiAngelo & LaMelo Ball Sign Pro Contracts ... In Lithuania

12/11/2017 3:03 PM PST
Breaking News

Big Baller Brand is going to Eastern Europe ... LiAngelo and LaMelo Ball have just signed 1-year contracts with a team in Lithuania.

LaVar Ball's 2nd and 3rd sons will play for Prienu Vytautas -- a pro team that competes in the Lithuanian LKL league.

Both Balls signed 1-year contracts, according to The Vertical ... and are expected to report to the team in early January. The Balls reportedly got multiple offers but felt this team was the right fit due to expected playing time and length of contract.

The team is reportedly based in a city of roughly 10,000 people.

Unclear how much cash the Balls will make -- but LaVar has previously said the longterm goal is to get both of his sons into the NBA with big bro Lonzo

Before Lithuania, 19-year-old LiAngelo was on the UCLA basketball team -- but left the squad following the China shoplifting scandal. His 16-year-old bro LaMelo was a high school star -- but his father pulled him out of Chino Hills High School in favor of training him on his own.

Good luck ...

Charles Barkley Rallying for Roy Moore Opponent ... To Fight 'White Separatism'

12/11/2017 3:07 PM PST
Breaking News

Charles Barkley is stepping up for Roy Moore's opponent for the open U.S. Senate seat -- this after blasting Moore for his close ties to Steve Bannon.

Barkley is appearing with Democratic Senate candidate Doug Jones Monday evening in Birmingham ... the eve of the election. The NBA Hall of Famer, and Alabama native, will be at a Jones rally -- along with "Orange Is the New Black" star Uzo Aduba.

Charles made his feelings about Moore clear last month when he got heated about the support he gets from Bannon -- an alleged white separatist, in Barkley's opinion.

The Bannon factor alone is enough reason to NOT vote for Moore, never mind the allegations of sexual misconduct with minors ... according to CB.

It's interesting ... Barkley won't vote in Tuesday's special election -- he no longer lives in Alabama -- yet he's taking time to appear with Moore's opponent. He's admitted not knowing a lot about Jones, but clearly thinks he's gotta be better than Moore.

Chris Bosh's Mom: I'm No Drug Trafficker ... But Chris Is Evicting Me

12/11/2017 1:30 PM PST
EXCLUSIVE

Chris Bosh's mom tells TMZ Sports allegations she's trafficking drugs out of the Texas home owned by her NBA star son are ridiculous and untrue ... but acknowledges there is a rift with Chris.

We spoke with Freida Bosh and her son, Joel Bosh, about the police raid on the home where she lives in DeSoto, Texas ... in which cops claim they found evidence connecting Freida's house with a drug trafficking operation

Freida says she "built" the home with Chris roughly 12 years ago -- but since then, their relationship has deteriorated and he's been trying to evict her. Freida says the two haven't spoken in 5 years.

To combat the eviction, Freida says she's had to hire lawyers -- and has been forced to rent out the home to various tenants to cover the pricey legal bills.

Long story short ... Freida says the person who brought trouble to the home is a former short-term tenant -- and she had NOTHING to do with his alleged illegal activity.

FYI, cops believe crack cocaine and heroin were being trafficked out of the home. No arrests have been made, but we're told that could happen soon.

Joel Bosh says he's been trying to help his mom work things out with Chris -- but his priority is helping her clear her name in the drug trafficking case because he believes she's 100% innocent.

Despite the family drama, both Freida and Joel say they love Chris and hope they can reconcile soon.

He was a part of the Warriors team that won the championship in 2017.

37-year-old Barnes says he'll be focusing on expanding his businesses and spending more time with his kids ... and hopes to be a billionaire by the time he's 50!

He reportedly made more than $31 mil during his career ... so, not a bad start!

J.R. Smith Debuts 'Ugly Sweater Hoodies' ... Shot at Stephen A.

12/11/2017 6:50 AM PST
Exclusive Details

J.R. Smith is taking his hoodie beef with Stephen A. Smith to the next level -- dropping brand new "ugly sweater hoodies" for the holiday season ... and TMZ Sports has the first pics.

In the spirit of the "ugly sweater" holiday traditions -- J.R. decided to evolve the look to the hoodie ... complete with the phrase, "Merry Swishmas."

Remember, J.R. and Stephen A. beefed a few months ago when the ESPN star ripped J.R. for wearing a hoodie on the bench during Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals.

Stephen A. said, "You've got a lot of those white folks in the audience that are going to think this is Trayvon Martin being revisited and I'm not joking about it. The bench is no place for someone to be wearing a hoodie."

Smith fired back on Twitter saying Stephen A. was "reaching."

J.R.'s reps at New Generation Management tell us the NBA star plans on rocking the new hoodie on Thursday (when the Cavs play the Lakers) and will offer them up for sale on Fresh Brewed Tees

Wonder what Stephen A. will think?

UFC's Max Holloway Kobe Inspires Me to Be a Killer 'You Suck, I'm the Greatest'

12/10/2017 12:55 AM PST
EXCLUSIVE

UFC champ Max Holloway says Kobe Bryant has shown him the killer instinct it takes to be great ... crediting Mamba Mentality for his ass-kicking inside the Octagon.

"When Kobe is in Mamba mode he's an animal," Max told TMZ Sports. "He doesn't care about winning one time ... he'll play you 100 times just to make a point -- you suck, I'm the greatest."

It’s a mindset Max says helped him SMASH Jose Aldo in their rematch last weekend ... and one he plans to continue using to become the next big thing -- like a Kobe, LeBron, Tiger or Serena.

“These guys that I named -- they outgrow their sports."

Kobe’s actually a HUGE fan of one of Max’s biggest rivals -- but we got a feeling the Mamba can get down with the "Blessed Era,” too.

Jalen Rose Yeah, Joel Embiid Trolled Me Here's My Response ...

12/10/2017 12:25 AM PST
EXCLUSIVE

Jalen Rose is taking the vegetarian approach with Joel Embiid -- NO BEEF -- 'cause the ex-NBA star has nothing but love for the Sixers stud ... despite being the butt of his joke the other day.

ICYMI -- Embiid poked fun at Rose in an interview with SportsCenter when he said his conditioning level was at 81 percent ... followed by "shoutout to Jalen Rose."

Of course, that's the number of points Kobe Bryant scored on Rose during his career-high performance against the Toronto Raptors back in 2006.

Rose says he's not pissed at all by the comment ... and showers the young baller's game with props.

Kenny Smith Boogie Would Destroy Durant ... But They'll Never Fight

12/10/2017 12:05 AM PST
EXCLUSIVE

Here's Kenny Smith giving a basketball expert's opinion on a pretty hot topic -- WHO WOULD WIN AN ALL-OUT BRAWL BETWEEN KEVIN DURANT AND DEMARCUS COUSINS?!

Oh, yeah. It's on.

We got the Jet at LAX and after he finished giving us some wisdom on the Derrick Rose situation in Cleveland, we had to ask about the newest biggest beef in the NBA -- Durant vs. Cousins.

The two guys have been extra chippy on and off the court lately, and we wanted to know if it came down to the come down, who'd wax whose ass.

Smith takes Boogie ... who outweighs Durant by about 1,000 lbs. ... and says Boogie would take the whole contest in a scant 3 rounds.

We want to see it.
