Foxy Brown Charged with Battery, Resisting Arrest

Published | Updated

TMZ has learned that ruckus-happy rapper Foxy Brown has been slapped with misdemeanor charges of battery and resisting without violence, stemming from a fracas at a south Florida beauty supply shop. The charges were filed Wednesday in Broward County, Fla.

Brown, according to the police report filed after the February 15 incident, threw hair glue at an employee of the shop and then swung her arms in a struggle with a police officer -- who was attempting to get Brown to leave the shop after it had closed.

Just last week, Brown was spared jail time by a Manhattan judge, after violating probation she received after a fight at a Manhattan nail salon in 2004.

Paris Violates Probation, Could Face Jail Time

Published | Updated

TMZ has confirmed that Paris Hilton violated the terms of her probation last night when she was pulled over for driving on a suspended license, and could spend up to 90 days in jail as a result.

Hilton pled no contest to alcohol-related reckless driving after cops arrested her on September 7 for a DUI in Hollywood. As a result, the DMV suspended her license, and a judge placed Hilton on 36 months probation, with one major condition being: to "obey all laws."

Last night, Hilton was stopped around 10:30 PM after cops say they noticed Hilton speeding down Sunset Blvd. without headlights. Deputies then discovered she was driving with a suspended license, arrested the heiress and impounded her car.

A hearing will be set to discuss Hilton's violation.

Nicole Takes the Wheel

Nicole Richie and galpal Mischa Barton hit Malibu over the weekend. Nicole was behind the wheel of a Mercedes G-Wagon as the pair played with puppies at a pet store.

TMZ reported last Friday that Richie was charged with driving under the influence of "alchohol and drugs." We screwed up. It should have read "alcohol or drugs." In fact, there was no evidence of alcohol when Richie was arrested. She allegedly confessed to cops she had taken Vicodin and smoked pot.

By the way, Nicole has a right to drive while her case winds through the legal system. In California, if someone is arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol, that person's license is generally suspended before the case goes to trial. Since alcohol was not involved in the Richie case, she's free to roll down PCH.

Tracy Morgan Cops a Plea

Published | Updated

TMZ has learned that "30 Rock" star Tracy Morgan has pleaded guilty this morning to misdemeanor DUI charges, stemming from an early morning bust in New York late last year.

Morgan was popped in Manhattan at 4:30 AM on November 28 on suspicion of drunk driving, after cops noticed his erratic driving.

According to the police report, Morgan "was unable to maintain a position in a lane of traffic." This was Morgan's second drunk driving arrest.

According to terms of the plea deal, Morgan must undergo supervised treatment by a doctor and stay out of legal trouble for six months. If he complies, he'll pay a $1000 fine and escape jail time. Morgan was also sentenced to an undetermined amount of community service.

Nicole Smiles as Trouble Brews

Nicole Richie is facing possible jail time for her DUI arrest, but photographers caught her smiling less than a week after she survived a dangerous wrong-way freeway excursion.

With a spring in her step, Nicole left a valet team after attending a holiday party at Gunnar Peterson's (yes, that Gunnar Peterson) ... and had to deal with the peering paparazzi. Mercifully, she rode in her new prime location -- the passenger seat.

The tiny driver will find out if she really has anything to smile about when she soon learns the charges to be filed against her.

Nicole Haunts L.A.

It's almost Christmas, but Nicole Richie is rocking a Halloween look.

The tiny celebutante, currently in hot water after her arrest, was apparently so cold she wore a blanket to lunch. Richie tried to make it impossible to take her photo yesterday as she left a sushi bar in Los Angeles.

She wasn't able to avoid it entirely, and the verdict is in; the ghost costume is better than the skeleton.

Richie Has Prior DUI Mandatory Jail on the Line

Published | Updated

Nicole Richie could be adding stripes to her wardrobe in the very near future.

TMZ has found court documents which reveal that Richie pled no contest four years ago to driving under the influence. Under California law, if Richie is convicted of DUI as a result of Monday's arrest, the judge must impose a jail sentence.

The law requires a mandatory sentence of five consecutive days in county jail as well as a one year license suspension for anyone twice-convicted of DUI. In addition, Richie would be ordered to attend an alcohol education program for a year-and-a-half, even if the second conviction is not alcohol-related.

As TMZ first reported, Richie admitted to CHP officers that she had taken Vicodin and smoked pot before driving the wrong way on a Burbank freeway. A field sobriety test revealed she was not under the influence of alcohol.

Cop: "What have you eaten today?"
Nicole: "French Fries"

TMZ has obtained the police documents in the 2002 case. In the arrest report it reveals that Richie told cops all she had eaten that day were french fries. As for what she drank that day -- "1 shot vodka."

She blew a .12. and a .13 in two separate tests. In California, .08 is considered legally intoxicated. Richie was stopped in her Toyota Corolla after a UCLA police officer observed her blowing a red light and driving over a speed bump at more than 50 miles an hour in an area with a 15 mph speed limit. Richie flunked the field sobriety test -- her eyes were watery and bloodshot, and she could not keep her balance.

Richie was given three years probation for her 2002 DUI conviction and had her license suspended for one year. Six months later, Richie was arrested for possession of heroin and for driving with a suspended license.

Winona Caught (Paying for Clothes)

Published | Updated

Winona Ryder celebrated the five-year anniversary of her shoplifting arrest with -- what else? -- a shopping trip!

Ryder and an unidentified companion swept through a department store at the Beverly Center yesterday, trying to evade the glare of a cameraman's lens. Winona gets a rather wide-eyed look from one clerk while she handles a hanger, then has her friend carry the bags out of the store. We're assuming she paid for the Starbucks coffee with which she attempts to hide her face.

On December 12, 2001, Ryder was arrested at Saks Fifth Avenue in Beverly Hills for attempting to filch thousands of dollars worth of clothes and accessories. She was convicted of felony grand theft and vandalism, but the charges were later reduced to misdemeanors.

It's unclear whether the merchandise was pre-emptively chained to the rack prior to Ryder's arrival.

Someone Else Will Die

Published | Updated

A 17-year-old boy has already died in an SUV driven by a celebrity. Someone else is going to die, and it will happen sooner rather than later.

Nicole Richie's loved ones could easily have been planning her funeral today -- likewise the loved ones of the people driving the right way on the 134 Freeway early Monday morning.

Lane Garrison must be scratching his head today. Why, he must be asking, did he have such bad luck? The fact is, the differentiating factor that makes Garrison a killer and Richie a DUI'er is luck. That's it.

I'm not trying to preach, and I will readily admit that TMZ has prospered off the antics of a group of young celebrities. When Brandon Davis went on his "firecrotch" rant against Lindsay, it was endlessly entertaining. When Paris got in fender-benders, it was so TMZ. And when Britney spread her legs for all the world to see, well it was Internet gold.

But the line has been crossed. The dark side of Hollywood has been revealed in the last month. And really, it's no surprise. There are a lot of young celebs who got really rich and very famous way too soon. The people who surround them are not used to saying "no." These celebs have gotten away with a lot -- mostly small stuff -- for a long time. And each time you get away with something you shouldn't, you get bolder the next time.

These celebs, for the most part, have no compass to guide them. Look at Lindsay Lohan. Her dad used the revolving door at his local jail while her mom was at war with him when she wasn't out partying. Lohan really didn't stand a chance, and it's sad.

So who will save the day and save these kids from disaster? In this town, saviors are awfully hard to come by.

Celebrity DUI: Who's Next?

Published | Updated

While Britney Spears may be partying and undressing like Paris Hilton, the question is: Will she be following in her alcohol-soaked, law-breaking footsteps?

On the heels of DUIs by Hilton and Nicole Richie, wagerweb.com has released their picks for which member of the A-list party crowd is most likely to wind up busted behind the wheel. These stars can run but they can not Hyde.

Not surprisingly, Britney tops the list with a 1 to 2 chance that she'll be arrested and charged with a DUI. Paris, who was busted early this year, could be a repeat offender and so she lands the #2 spot. Good-time train wreck Tara Reid may be trying to clean up her image, but it's not enough to keep her from sloshing into the #3 spot on the list. Keeping her out of clubs might keep her out of jail.

Despite her wreck-a-week driving skills and AA membership, Lindsay Lohan hiccups into #4. Wait until she's of age! Rounding out the top 5: Limoncello aficionado, Danny DeVito.

Other celebs getting a lot of buzz and making the list include Ashlee Simpson, Mary-Kate Olsen and Malibu's most wanted, Mel Gibson. Cheers!

Nicole Comes Out of Hiding

Today, one day after her DUI bust, Nicole Richie emerged from new boyfriend Joel Madden's house in Glendale, Calif., and found a throng of paparazzi waiting for her. She then went back into the home to cover herself in a purple blanket. It didn't take a big blanket.

Madden, lead singer of the band Good Charlotte (and ex of Hilary Duff), lives very close to where Richie was busted -- which might explain why she was in the area on the night of her wrong-way freeway ride.

'View' Charges Nicole Richie With DUI... PH?

Published | Updated

The chatty cops of "The View" weighed in on the Nicole Richie arrest this morning, and they've decided that a simple DUI doesn't cover the infraction. As Joy Behar put it, Nicole really ought to be charged with DUIPH -- Driving Under the Influence ... of Paris Hilton.

Rosie said that the pin-thin Richie was about the same size as her 9-year-old, and Barbara lamented that Nicole felt compelled to downsize herself from the miniscule 100 pounds listed on her driver's license, to the skeletal 85 pounds that authorites listed as her weight on arrest.

Ever helpful, Rosie pointed out how much vodka it would take (a half a thimble) to get Richie "wrecked," while Joy suggested that Richie could learn from Danny DeVito's recent travails with intoxicating substances, since they're both so petite.

ABC Security Cam Captures Richie's Arrest

A camera trained on the 134 Freeway in Burbank recorded Nicole Richie's DUI arrest early Monday morning.

ABC Television has offices near the exit ramp which Richie used to enter the freeway going the wrong way. ABC security guards noticed the commotion on their monitors and trained their security camera in that direction.

The pictures show Richie talking to CHP officers. We're told she admitted that she had taken Vicodin and smoked pot.

Richie's attorney, Howard Weitzman, exclusively tells TMZ "This is a difficult time for Nicole but she is prepared to accept whatever responsibility is appropriate. She intends to continue with her career and will deal with any other issues that need to be addressed."
