Lindsey Vonn is breaking her silence after Sunday's terrifying crash at the Olympics ... detailing the severity of the injury, a tibia fracture, that she says will require "multiple surgeries to fix properly."

Vonn took to Instagram Monday afternoon after undergoing emergency surgery for the injury, saying "my Olympic dream did not finish the way I dreamt it would."

Jutta Leerdam can officially call herself an Olympic gold medalist -- the Dutch speed skater just won the women's 1,000-meter speed skating competition -- while also breaking the Olympic record!

It all went down Monday morning in Milan, with Leerdam surpassing her Dutch counterpart Femke Kok by 0.28 seconds to win the first medal of the games for the Netherlands.

She was quickly overcome with emotions after the win, skating around the ice to take it all in.

Lindsey Vonn is in stable condition after undergoing emergency surgery to repair a broken leg she suffered during her violent crash in the women's downhill at the Winter Olympics in Italy.

Team officials and hospital staff say the skiing legend is recovering and expected to be okay after the procedure, which stabilized the fracture she suffered early Sunday in Cortina d'Ampezzo.

Vonn's Olympic bid came to a frightening end just seconds into her downhill run on Sunday, when she lost control and tumbled hard down the Olympia delle Tofane course. The impact left her on the snow in visible pain before medical personnel rushed in.

Lindsey Vonn's Olympic run ended in terrifying fashion Sunday after the skiing legend crashed hard during the downhill and was airlifted off the mountain by helicopter following medical treatment on the snow.

The American, racing despite a badly injured left knee, lost control early in her run after cutting the opening traverse too tight. Vonn was spun around in the air before slamming down and witnesses say she could be heard screaming in pain as ski patrol and medical personnel rushed to her side.

The race was immediately put on hold as Vonn was surrounded by doctors, strapped to a gurney and flown off the course.

"Having done that before, you can get back to similar strength, similar flexibility before you have the surgery," Griffin said. "But your knee is going to be in a much more compromised position. So Lindsey is going to do what she wants to do."

Mary Carillo Stepping In For Savannah Guthrie During Winter Olympics

Mary Carillo's going to be catching plenty of Olympic-level spectacle soon, because she's going to serve as the cohost of NBC's 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Games' Opening Ceremony coverage ... in lieu of the original cohost, Savannah Guthrie.

Carillo, who will be working the Olympics for her 17th time, was picked to replace Guthrie on Wednesday. She'll share hosting duties with Terry Gannon.

NBC Olympics Production President and Executive Producer Molly Carillo confirmed the news ... "We are fortunate to have a deep bench of talented commentators who will step in and fill these roles. Mary is one of the most experienced Olympic commentators ever and a master storyteller. She and Terry will lead the American audience through one of the world’s greatest global moments."

Carillo will stick around after the Opening Ceremony ends and serve as a Games reporter for NBC.

ICYMI ... Guthrie bowed out of cohosting the Opening Ceremony for NBC on Tuesday -- her mother, Nancy, disappeared from her home near Tucson, Arizona this weekend. Savannah's focused on being with her family at the moment.

Investigators say Nancy was taken from her home in the middle of the night.

Shannon supported Guthrie's choice to stay with her loved ones, stating ... "Our hearts go out to Savannah and the entire Guthrie family. They continue to have our full support."

The 2026 Olympic Games ain't exactly off to an electric start ... 'cause moments after the first event of the Winter Olympics got underway -- the curling venue was forced to pause the action due to a power outage.

It all went down at the Cortina Curling Olympic Stadium on Wednesday. While fans were excited to watch some action, they only got to enjoy four minutes of it until a power outage struck the building.

According to the AP, the venue's lights began to dim and flicker, prompting a pause in the action. Not long after ... the power came back on -- much to the delight of fans.
