More than A DOZEN cop cars and TWO police helicopters raced to Diddy's L.A. home moments ago ... but law enforcement sources tell TMZ the incident is yet another "swatting" prank.

Law enforcement sources tell us ... a swatter made a call that someone was shot inside the home.

Sources at the scene tell us ... cops are already dispersing ... and officials now know it was another celebrity swatting prank.

We were initially told the target was Steve Carell ... there were multiple cop cars in his driveway. We're told cops secured his house because it's right next to Diddy's.

In fact, Diddy isn't the first star on his block to have been swatted -- Miley Cyrus' parents' home was targeted in a similar prank last year.

FYI -- cops take the swatting thing VERY seriously ... and have said they will prosecute the perpetrator to the fullest extent of the law.

Just because Rob Dyrdek's swanky L.A. pad was featured on his MTV show "Rob & Big" does not mean it's real estate gold ... TMZ has learned RD just sold it for $225,000 LESS than what he paid.

After sitting on the market for over six months, Rob finally unloaded the 3-bedroom, 3.5-bath pad near the Hollywood Hills for $1.175 million ... way under the $1.4 million he reportedly bought the place for back in 2005.

It's a great deal for the buyer ... not only was it the main stage for the reality show that made Rob famous ... it has 2,792 square feet, 3 bedrooms, 3.5 baths, floor-to-ceiling windows, 15-ft ceilings, and a pool.

Maria Shriver has no plans to take down those pesky Christmas lights ... even though it's ALREADY APRIL ... telling TMZ, they're way more than just Christmas lights.

TMZ broke the story ... Maria's neighbors have been complaining about the unseasonal decorations outside her Brentwood home, saying they're an eyesore. (TMZ shot video of the lights last week ... and they really do stick out like a sore thumb).

But Maria tells a slightly different story ... and says the lights represent something much deeper than a single holiday, which is why they're still up.

Or maybe she's just making excuses.

"Coldplay" frontman Chris Martin made an offer on a multi-million dollar home ... but it's not because there's trouble in his macrobiotic marriage with wife Gwyneth Paltrow -- he was buyin' it for the boyz in the band.

Our real estate sources tell TMZ ... Chris went into escrow on a 6,000 square-foot home in Brentwood, CA for just under $4 mil -- a place his bandmates could live, with plenty of room to practice and record music.

Chris was so into the 6 bedroom mansion (above) ... he not only brought two bandmates over for a look-see, he went to the second floor for a mini-concert to test the acoustics.

All was well ... until Gwyneth got involved. Seems the persnickety Oscar winner had issues with the inspection report and ordered Chris to nix the deal.

Justin Bieber may be a lousy neighbor, but he's an awesome friend ... especially if you don't have a place to crash and want to throw dozens of parties with hot chicks.

We've learned Justin has allowed 3 of his close friends to live in his Calabasas estate full-time -- Lil Twist, Kevin Pederson (aka King Kevi) and a third who wants to remain anonymous.

The trio lives there rent free, and they get a security guard to boot, even when Justin's away. They're also allowed to tool around in Justin's sweet rides.

We've learned the party animal is King Kevi, who has lived in the house for a month and has thrown 30 parties of varying sizes. The guest list is always lopsided, with way more chicks than dudes.

L.A. Lakers legend Jerry West is a slam dunk for best dad ever ... dropping $1.3 mil on a condo for his 24-year-old son. No justice.

The 3,000-square-foot condo sits on a golf course in the exclusive MountainGate complex on L.A.'s Westside. And speaking of West and side ... the condo is 5 minutes from Jerry's estate.

The West kid will have 2 bedrooms, 2.5 baths, hardwood floors, high ceilings, spa tub, top-of-the-line finishes and golf course views. Homeowners dues -- $980 a month.

Justin Bieber's Calabasas mansion was the backdrop for a rager last week, where the beer was flowing and marijuana smoke was permeating the singer's home ... and the only thing missing was Justin.

TMZ obtained these pictures, taken at the tail end of the party. The bash was thrown by none other than Lil Twist, the dude who was seen smoking it up with Justin earlier this year.

We're told Twist and another friend -- who were staying in the house while Justin was in Europe -- invited 40 girls to the house on March 19. They also invited a few guys.

You see from the pics -- there's a large hookah pipe with multiple hose attachments on a table, along with nearly 2 dozen beer bottles, as well as the hard stuff.

Take a look at the pictures below. You see a friend in front of a Bob Marley portrait in Bieber's party room. We also got the pic on the right from Twist's Instagram, in which he posed in front of the same picture during the party.

Twist is the same dude who was driving Justin's Ferrari January 1 when he got stopped for speeding and a photog was struck and killed by another vehicle as he shot the traffic stop.

And Twist was also the guy who drove Justin's Fisker into cement poles at a liquor store earlier this month ... and then took off, leaving the whip behind.

One of the people who attended the party tells TMZ ... she left just before 2 AM and it was still going strong, with music blaring and pot filling the air.

The man who allegedly tried to break in to Rihanna's L.A. home back in February has plead not guilty to burglary charges ... TMZ has learned.

As we previously reported, cops believe the man broke into the home next to Rihanna's property believing it was RiRi's crib. He was arrested when neighbors noticed him acting suspicious.

The man has since been ordered to stay at least 1,000 yards away from Rihanna's home.

The judge also told the guy he's not allowed to possess any dangerous or deadly weapons (guns or knives).

Jerry Buss -- who owned the L.A. Lakers before he died -- has given a girlfriend many decades younger than him an awesome parting gift -- his Honolulu, Hawaii condo and his 2009 Bentley!

TMZ just obtained a copy of Jerry's will, and he leaves just about everything to his family trust. The trustee is Jerry's daughter, Jeanie Buss. According to the will, the estate is worth in excess of $5.5 million (although his assets obviously total way more than that).

Now ... as for the young woman. Her name is Delia Cortez. She lives in Hawaii. She's in her late 20s and was studying to become a vet.

Sources who were close to Jerry tell TMZ ... she and Jerry had an "intimate relationship." We also know Jerry had an eye for young ladies and got around.

As for the condo and the car ... Jerry amended his will in March, 2012 to include the gifts to Delia.

It's the female version of a genital challenge ... two wildly rich sisters who are vying for the title of L.A. land baroness ... and in this contest Tamara Ecclestone is giving little sis Petra a run for her money.

Real estate sources tell TMZ ... Tamara is on the hunt for a mansion more expensive than the one Petra bought from Candy Spelling which came with an $85 million price tag.

We've learned the not-to-be-outdone Tamara went shopping Monday with uber-realtor Mauricio Umansky (Kyle Richards' hubby) and spent an hour at the legendary Walt Disney mansion in Holmby Hills Monday -- up the street from where Michael Jackson died.

Price tag -- $95 MILLION for the mouse house.

We're told Tamara really liked the 35,000 square foot mansion with insane grounds, 8 bedrooms and 17 bathrooms.

The two very competitive sisters have money to burn. Their papa is Formula One mogul Bernie Ecclestone, who's worth just shy of $4 billion.

We couldn't reach Tamara or Mauricio for comment ... or Walt Disney.

1:34 PM PT -- One of Justin's neighbors tells TMZ ... the argument between Bieber and the accuser was NOT over a party ... it had to do with a Ferrari.

We're told Bieber had the car delivered to his home last night on a flatbed truck ... and this morning, he was racing the vehicle up and down the streets.

Neighborhood sources tell us ... the neighbor was furious about the deafening noise AND felt Justin was endangering the community by tearing through the streets at breakneck speeds.

We're told the neighbor went over to confront Justin about the situation ... and that's when the two sides got into a screaming match.

Justin Bieber has been accused of battery by a neighbor ... and cops are at the singer's home in Calabasas, CA investigating ... TMZ has learned.

Sources tell TMZ .... Justin and one of his male neighbors got into a verbal altercation just after 9 AM. We're told the argument was intense.

We've confirmed Justin has returned from his overseas concerts and was back home this morning.

L.A. County Sheriff's spokesperson Steve Whitmore tells TMZ ... the accuser told deputies Justin made physical contact with him and he has filed a battery report. He also claims Justin threatened him.

Sources connected with Justin's security tell TMZ ... the neighbor came on to Justin's property and began screaming that while Justin was away (overseas) there were people at the house throwing loud parties.

Our sources tell us Justin told the man to get off his property ... but they insist Justin did not have any physical contact with him.

Sources connected with JB's security tell us the singer went inside his house and security escorted the neighbor off the property.

In case you doubted that Cher lives in a different world than you, she just unloaded her little L.A. pied-a-terre for $5.25 million!

Cher had listed the 4,000 square-foot condo -- with jetliner views of L.A. -- for $5.5 mil. She leaves behind fellow tenants Courteney Cox and Elton John.

The singer bought the pad in 2006 for $4.5 mil. So given the crash, she did ok.

It looks like Cher is downsizing in a big way. She's also listed her enormous Malibu compound for $41 million (this is the second time she's tried to unload it).

She also has a house in Venice, CA up for sale for $1.89 mil.

Short story ... she had 3 homes within 25 miles of each other worth a grand total of $48 mil.

Ashley Greene's condo fire was tragic but also not totally shocking to other residents in the building, who say the actress was trouble.

Multiple sources in Ashley's West Hollywood condo building tell TMZ ... the actress was an utter nuisance -- they say her unit was a revolving door for her fellow actors, friends and others who came and went in the middle of the night. The people who lived below Ashley say there was so much commotion above them they had trouble sleeping.

On top of that, residents complained that Ashley didn't control her dogs -- which were incessant barkers.

We're told residents complained to building management, but nothing happened.

Here's the kicker ... The owner of the unit will be fixing it up, and she says Ashley is welcome to live there again -- that's because Ashley has always paid her rent. Wow.

TMZ has just obtained the 911 call that was placed by a breathless man who repeatedly pleaded for help after Ashley Greene's apartment exploded in flames, screaming, "The building's on fire."

As we first reported, Ashley and two men were sleeping in her rental unit when the fire broke out. Officials now say the cause of the fire was an unattended candle that torched the couch and subsequently the entire place.

It's case closed for the Ashley Greene condo fire ... TMZ has learned, the devastating flames that ripped through the actress' L.A. apartment Friday have officially been ruled an accident.

Law enforcement sources tell us, the L.A. County Sheriff's Department, the L.A. Fire Department and the insurance company -- all of which opened an arson investigation -- are in lockstep ... the fire occurred as the result of carelessness.

TMZ broke the story ... the fire started when an unattended candle accidentally lit Ashley's living room couch ablaze.

Building sources tell us, at least four neighboring units were significantly damaged from the blaze. Insurance agents are expected to stop by today to start the claims process.
