The prez was taking questions from reporters Sunday evening -- when one brought up that Sweeney had been revealed as a registered Republican over the weekend.

Trump seemed surprised to learn the actress was part of his political party ... responding, "Now I love her ad."

In an official IG post Friday, they clarified the "Sydney Sweeney has great jeans" tag is, and always has been, about jeans ... subtly shutting down critics who linked the ad to white-supremacy eugenics.

The statement declares the ad is all about Sydney’s jeans and her story ... adding that as a brand, they're all about celebrating how everyone rocks their AE jeans with confidence.

Lizzo is getting in on the frenzy surrounding Sydney Sweeney's new ad ... showing her followers what kind of ad they could expect in Biden's America in a joking new post.

The singer-songwriter shared a photoshopped pic of herself in an all-denim 'fit ... lying back in a seductive manner like Sweeney did for American Eagle just last week.

Remember ... people are up in arms about a new advert featuring Sweeney in a denim outfit, claiming she's got great genes jeans -- with some accusing American Eagle of racist dog whistling.

Sources with direct knowledge tell TMZ ... the ad campaign is creating tremendous buzz and their independent polling shows the vast majority of folks -- around 70% -- find the commercial appealing.

The spot centers around Sydney buttoning up some AE jeans and touting her biological makeup, where she breathily says, "Genes are passed down from parents to offspring, often determining traits like hair color, personality and even eye color ... my jeans are blue."

The future is female -- and apparently fake too, 'cause Guess is getting roasted for using an A.I. model in their new ads ... but the brand's co-founder is out here sticking to his guns, telling us there's no danger of real-life human models going extinct.

Paul Marciano -- the fashion brand's co-founder -- tells TMZ he’s always been one to shake things up, like when he dropped that bold red logo in '85 while everyone else was stuck in B&W. And it's the same vibe now ... A.I.'s just the new toy in town, so it caught his eye and he ran with it!

Paul tells us he's blown away by how real it looks. So when he stumbled on an IG account of an A.I.-driven marketing agency run by creator Seraphinne Vallora, it had him hooked ... especially since one of their A.I. models had total Guess girl vibes.
