Producer to Fishburne: You're No Sam Jackson!
A movie company that hired Samuel L. Jackson to star in a big-budget film is pissed off they were forced to settle for Laurence Fishburne instead, this according to a new lawsuit.
It's all over a movie called "Black Water Transit" -- which Jackson was supposed to star in ... until he hurt his back and had to drop out.
The movie company -- Capitol Films U.S. -- claims they wanted to scrap the film entirely, but their insurance broker, AON, got them an inferior policy that didn't cover production losses so Capitol would be "forced" to recast the star.
According to IMDB, Capitol has since hired Laurence Fishburne to play the role -- but according to the suit, filed in L.A. County Superior Court, they just wanted to kill the project and cash in on the policy.
Capitol claims they lost more than $20 million in the process -- and probably hurt Laurence Fishburne's feelings in the process.

Sacha Baron Cohen Sued Over 'Terrorist' Scene
Sacha Baron Cohen, along with the producers of "Bruno" and David Letterman's company -- are being sued by a man who claims his reputation has been smeared all over the world because people now think he's a terrorist.
Ayman Abu Aita is a grocer on the West Bank -- he says in Palestine. He was featured in the movie "Bruno," in which he is described as "terrorist group leader al-aqsa martyrs brigade."
According to the suit, filed in federal court in Washington D.C. and obtained by TMZ, Abu Aita claims Cohen appeared on David Letterman's show promoting the movie and during the interview Cohen and Letterman gave the "unmistakable impression" that Abu Aita was a terrorist.
Abu Aita also says he was defamed by Cohen on an NPR interview on the show, "Fresh Air."
Abu Aita is suing for $110 million.
Judge Slams Person Suing 'Twilight' Creator
A sinister plot against "Twilight" creator Stephenie Meyer has been exposed in court -- and it's all over an allegation that Meyer stole the idea for her vampire empire from someone else!
A judge slammed competing vampire author Jordan Scott, claiming her accusation that Meyer ripped off a book called "The Nocturne" was "deceptive" -- not to mention completely unfounded.
As TMZ previously reported (Spoiler alert!) Scott alleged the wedding, consummation and birth scenes in Meyer's book "Breaking Dawn" were suspiciously similar to scenes from "Nocturne" -- but the judge ripped Scott, saying she had "twice manipulated aspects of the subject works in order to create the appearance of similarity."
The case was officially dismissed.

Tyler Perry Sued Over Praising Jesus
Tyler Perry used too much of the goodness of Jesus in his movie, "Madea Goes to Jail," at least according to a new federal lawsuit obtained by TMZ.
The suit, filed by the personal representative of deceased gospel singer/songwriter Bertha James, claims Perry lifted an entire verse from a song James wrote in 1950 -- "When I Think of the Goodness of Jesus."
The suit claims Perry pilfered the verse and used it in "Madea" -- specifically, "incorporating the entire Chorus in a monologue delivered by the main character in 'Madea" referencing her deliverance from a jail sentence and leniency for repetitive criminal conduct, in a staged court proceeding presided over by 'Judge Mabeline.'"
Bertha's estate, which is also suing Lionsgate Entertainment, wants unspecified damages for copyright infringement.

Cops: Bitten 'Twilight' Fan a Bloody Liar
Cops tell TMZ the 17-year-old girl who claimed a rabid "Twilight" fan bit her on the neck while she was leaving a screening of the movie was lying through her teeth ... and now the false claim could end up biting her in the ass.
Erin Westrate initially told cops a male in his 40s bit her on the neck at a movie theater in Norton Shores, Michigan after she saw "New Moon" on Friday night.
Cops say they grilled Westrate after a witness told cops they watched her leave the theater ... and didn't see any biting. We're told Westrate then came clean -- telling cops the alleged culprit was simply kissing her on the neck at the time and she was a "willing participant."
Detective Lieutenant Timothy LaVigne of the Norton Shores Police Department tells us Westrate could now face criminal charges for filing a false police report over the incident.

'Twilight' House Has Stalking Problem
The "Twilight: New Moon" house is getting more attention than the realtor can handle -- except it's mostly from crazed fans who just want to get closer to Rob Pattinson ... you know, by sleeping on the same floors he once walked on.
TMZ spoke with Jason Soprovich, who tells us he's been inundated with emails from "house stalkers" -- mostly female Twi-hards who have no intention of buying the house and just want to stay there for a little while.
Because who knows ... maybe they'll find a strand of RPattz's hair lying around and their lives will be complete.
All the crazy emails aside, Jason's still close to selling the place -- so far, a few serious buyers have already expressed interest.
