Sorry Japan, you're gonna have to wait for Van Halen ... the band is postponing their Japanese concert tour because Eddie Van Halen just underwent emergency surgery on his intestine.

Van Halen just released a statement ... saying, "Eddie underwent an emergency surgery for a severe bout of Diverticulitis. No further surgeries are needed and a full recovery is expected within 4 - 6 months."

According to WebMD, Diverticulitis is essentially when pouches form in the wall of the colon and become inflamed ... very, very painful stuff.

It's unclear how long 57-year-old Eddie has been suffering from the condition or when he went under the knife.

Robin Roberts just announced ... she will begin her medical leave from "Good Morning America" TODAY ... one day ahead of schedule ... after "some things happened at home."

Roberts -- who was recently diagnosed with MDS -- had originally planned to stay through tomorrow before leaving the show to prepare for her bone marrow transplant.

But this morning, an emotional Roberts explained, "I had planned to let tomorrow be the last day ... and then some things happened at home and I wanna take care of that before I begin my treatment next week."

Country star Martina McBride performed a song for Robin ... and Roberts, with a smile on her face, tearfully sang along.

Robin Roberts will begin her medical leave from "Good Morning America" on Friday ... so she can undergo bone marrow transplant surgery.

Earlier this year, Roberts announced she was diagnosed with myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) ... a disease that attacks the blood and bone marrow.

Roberts says her sister is the bone marrow donor ... explaining, "[She] is a perfect match and she’s been spending a lot of time with me. She’s been taking shots to help her prepare."

Roberts says the procedure is scheduled for Tuesday ... and says she plans to return to work following her recovery.

"I know I’m going to have a job when I come back."

Rodney King's family believes R.K.'s autopsy report contains a key piece of information about Rodney's health that could save their own lives ... and it centers around his heart.

A member of the King family tells TMZ ... the coroner explained how Rodney suffered from an enlarged heart before his death ... a condition that has grave consequences if left untreated.

While Rodney's heart condition wasn't the main cause of his death (see: drowning, cocaine, PCP, alcohol) multiple members of his family view the discovery of King's cardiomegaly as a "wake up call" to get themselves checked out.

One family member who didn't want to be identified tells us, "I never knew he had heart trouble. I am worried that I could be at risk as well and I'm making a doctor's appointment next week."

Halle Berry and Gabriel Aubry's child custody trial was just interrupted by paramedics rushing into court ... TMZ has learned.

A pair of EMTs was seen entering the courtroom with a stretcher -- but about 10 minutes later they exited ... and the stretcher was empty.

It's unclear what the emergency was, or who needed medical attention -- but a law enforcement source tells us everyone is okay now ... and it was NOT Halle or a witness who got treated.

Gabriel had already left for the day when the paramedics arrived.

Three days after canceling a performance in Denver after suffering from "breathing problems," music legend Willie Nelson resurfaced looking happy and signing autographs in New Orleans on Wednesday.

On Sunday, the 79-year-old was hospitalized because he was having trouble breathing "due to high altitude and emphysema."

Good to see Willie on the road again.

"Entourage" star Jerry Ferrara is sporting a pretty gnarly gash and bruise under his left eye this morning ... after taking an elbow to the face during a basketball game yesterday.

Ferrara went to Twitter to explain his injuries ... writing, "Caught a elbow playing bball from a very non athletic dude."

Jerry also asked his followers if they think he needs stitches -- though it's unclear if the actor has actually gone to a doctor to get patched up.

Wynonna Judd's husband had his left leg amputated following a horrific motorcyle crash in South Dakota this weekend ... TMZ has learned.

Judd's rep tells us ... Michael Scott Moser "severed" his leg in the crash ... and when he was transported to a hospital in Rapid City, SD doctors determined it was necessary to amputate the leg above the knee.

The rep also says Moser had to undergo surgery on his hand, which is of particular concern because he is the drummer in Judd's band.

Rosie O'Donnell suffered a major heart attack last week but kept it a secret ... until now, when she revealed the whole scary ordeal on her blog ... as a poem.

In a post on Rosie's official blog dated August 20 ... the comedian drops a bombshell with an entry titled "My Heart Attack" ... in which she explains how she went into cardiac arrest and didn't even realize it.

In the post she explains (in poem form) ... she experienced chest pains, clammy skin, and vomiting ... she then took an aspirin -- but never bothered to call 911.

The next day she went to see a cardiologist and was informed by her doctor that her symptoms were a result of a "widow maker" heart attack.

She says in the post, "50% of women having heart attacks never call 911 ... 200,000 women die of heart attacks every year in the US ... by some miracle I was not one of them."

Willie Nelson was forced to cancel a fund-raiser appearance in the Denver area Sunday night because he was having trouble breathing and was taken to a local hospital.

Nelson was to appear at a fund-raiser for the Dumb Friends League that was being held in Castle Pines Village, which is located 21 miles from Denver.

The husband of country singer Wynonna Judd suffered brutal injuries Saturday afternoon when he allegedly drove his motorcycle across a center divider and crashed into an oncoming car, this according to local reports.

The crash went down on US Highway 16/365, near Hill City, SD. Michael Scott Moser was driving a Harley Davidson motorcycle when he drifted out of his lane into oncoming traffic, ramming his two-wheeler into the side door of a Chevy Malibu ... according to The Rapid City Journal.

Moser's injuries were serious, but not life-threatening and he was airlifted by helicopter to Rapid City Regional Hospital. Judd, who was driving in front of him was not injured, nor was the driver of the car he smashed into.

Following the accident, Judd cancelled her Saturday night concert at the Deadwood Mountain Grand Hotel & Casino, but assured fans on Facebook, "The show will be rescheduled at a later date."

MLB umpire Greg Gibson suffered a broken nose and a nasty gash near his eye when L.A. Angels star Torii Hunter accidentally cleated him in the face during Wednesday's game ... but Gibson tells TMZ he isn't holding a grudge.

We spoke with the 43-year-old umpire ... who tells us he's recovering nicely after Hunter's foot collided with his face during a botched slide at home plate.

Gibson says he required 5 stitches to close the wound near his eye. During an exam with an Angels team doctor during the game, Gibson says he was informed the bridge of his nose was fractured.

Doctors also performed a CT scan, but determined he did NOT suffer any head trauma.

Gibson tells us ... Hunter visited him after the game and apologized.

Gibson says Hunter seemed "upset and worried" about the accident ... but the umpire tells us he doesn't blame Torii ... chalking it up to a "freak play ... an accident."

In fact, Gibson says Hunter is one of the nicest guys in the league ... "One of the princes of the game."

Gibson says he has another eye exam Friday morning ... and if he passes, he hopes to get back on the job ASAP.

Mayim Bialik's hands are out of commission -- after the "Blossom" actress nearly lost a finger in a car accident yesterday -- and despite what her publicist said, the pics show serious injuries.

Bialik -- who currently stars in "Big Bang Theory" -- was photographed earlier today in L.A. after her trip to the E.R. -- sporting a full hand cast on her right hand, and a left forearm wrapped in gauze.

Despite the fact that cops told us Mayim's jacket was completely soaked in blood, her publicist wanted us to run the following statement yesterday -- "Mayim Bialik was in a minor car accident today ... She is doing fine and will be returning to work tomorrow."

Marc Summers -- the legendary host of "Double Dare" -- tells TMZ he suffered multiple broken bones in his face and required emergency surgery after a bad car accident in Philadelphia last week.

Summers -- who also hosts "Unwrapped" on the Food Network -- says he can't remember much about the accident ... only that he was a passenger in the back seat of a taxi cab ... when the car hydroplaned and lost control.

60-year-old Summers says ... he was told he flew out of his seat and into the clear partition inside the taxi cab face first ... breaking several bones in the process.

Marc was rushed to a nearby hospital ... and says doctors performed emergency plastic surgery to put his face back together.

The TV icon tells us he's out of the hospital and resting at his home in Philly.

"I'm all good ... just in a lot of pain."

Summers says ever since the accident his famous Food Network chef friends like Mario Batali, Bobby Flay and Michael Symon have come through STRONG ... offering to make him special "get well" meals.

Problem is Marc is still having some trouble operating his mouth ... and can't chew very well. So he's been limited to easily consumed soft food items like pastas and purees.

Side note - Summers says he has not looked at himself in the mirror yet ... but he's been told that the damage isn't too bad.

Watch your step at William H. Macy and Felicity Huffman's Hollywood Hills home -- according to a new lawsuit the A-list couple has a staircase so dangerous it caused a woman to slip, fall, and seriously injure herself.

Felicity and Bill are being sued by a woman named Lourdes Orozco ... who claims she went down hard on the stairway from hell back in April, 2011.

According to the lawsuit the stairs were "dirty and poorly maintained," and lacked "regulated handrails."

The suit further alleges WHM and his wife were negligent ... because they "knew or should have known" the stairway conditions "could easily cause anyone to slip and fall, as in [Orozco's] case, resulting in serious personal injury."

The lawsuit also accuses Macy and Huffman of willful failure to warn Orozco about the allegedly horrendous staircase.
