Eagles DC Vic Fangio was rarin' and ready to face the media on Thursday ... thanks to some inspo from the country's most polarizing medical figure, Dr. Anthony Fauci.

The veteran defensive coordinator barely sat down at the podium before dropping this gem on a reporter who asked about the team's plan at the Safety position.

“I’m gonna be like Fauci and just take the Fifth Amendment on all questions," Fangio joked. "Did you guys see that? Oh my god.”

Cue the laughter.

The DC then asked the reporter to repeat the query before actually answering.

Of course, you'd have to be living under a rock not to get the joke.

Just one day earlier, Fauci invoked the Fifth Amendment more than 100 times during a heated, contentious Senate hearing, refusing to answer questions about COVID and the government's pandemic response.

The clips exploded online … and the controversy clearly reached the Eagles' building.

Anthony Smith allegedly threatened to kill his wife, forced her into his car, and later tried to run her over with it after a heated argument at a Nebraska bar, according to prosecutors.

The Sarpy County Attorney's Office detailed the claims hours after the 38-year-old former UFC star went before a judge, and the allegations are explosive.

It all started when Smith, who was released on $500K bond (he only had to put up 10%) on Wednesday, allegedly got into an altercation at a Gretna, NE bar on July 26. Prosecutors say Lionheart threatened to kill his wife, Mikhala, if she didn't go home with him.

NHL legend Claude Lemieux was kicked out of his home after confessing he had relapsed into sex addiction ... setting off a chain of events his son later recounted to police.

TMZ Sports has obtained body cam footage from the night Claude died by suicide ... showing his son, Brendan Lemieux, explain to cops his father had been sober for 12 years before his mother discovered that was no longer the case.

Brendan tells officers his mother confronted Claude after the family noticed changes in his behavior over the previous year. He says things had recently spiraled, with his father lashing out at times.

Patrick Mahomes Jr.’s dad, Patrick Sr., is begging for permission to stop wearing his alcohol monitoring bracelet due to severe health issues it is causing him, TMZ has learned. 

According to court docs obtained by TMZ, Patrick Sr. claims the monitor caused him significant skin irritations on his ankle. He asked his probation officer if he could remove the monitor … claiming the cream he got to treat the issue was also not helping. 

The probation officer requested that Patrick Sr. submit to a voluntary hair-follicle test and a blood test, which he did on July 1 and July 2. The results came back as negative. 

Tony Romo allegedly had an open bottle of booze in his car at the time of his OWI arrest, officers reportedly claimed in new docs.

Cops said the alcoholic beverage was found on the passenger side of Romo's black jeep before it was towed from the scene on July 23, according to the California Post.

As a result, Romo was issued a citation for the open container and is facing a $267 fine.

Anthony Smith is still behind bars at a county jail, but the former UFC star may soon be walking free, 'cause a judge set bond at $500K ... a day and a half after he was arrested on three felonies.

The 38-year-old appeared before a judge for the first time in Sarpy County, Nebraska, on Wednesday morning, where bond was granted. Once Smith comes up with the cash, he'll be released pending trial.

But he won't be free and clear to do whatever he wants.

Smith cannot have any contact with his wife, Mikhala Smith, as a condition of his bond. Anthony is also prohibited from leaving the state without permission. He also must steer clear of any trouble.

Tony Romo told cops he was on his way to meet his grandma and grandpa when he was pulled over and ultimately busted for OWI ... newly released body camera footage shows.

In the video, obtained by TMZ, the former Dallas Cowboys quarterback tells the officer he had just left a golf tournament and was headed to see his grandparents when he was stopped in Wisconsin on July 23.

Later in the footage, the officer returns to Romo's car and asks him to step out of his Jeep to perform field sobriety tests, but Romo repeatedly asks whether he can call his lawyer before finally exiting the vehicle.
