Cam Ward's only been a Titan for a few hours, but he's already being welcomed to the Volunteer State by one of the org.'s greatest players -- Chris Johnson!!

CJ2K sat down with TMZ Sports on Thursday to break down Tennessee's Ward pick ... and while he said he would have probably preferred to take Travis Hunter with the top selection in the NFL draft, he acknowledged getting a signal-caller was important for the team.

"We needed a quarterback," the ex-tailback said. "They want to change the organization."

American actor Darryl M. Bell was in his early 20s when he first started playing Ron -- the flirty musician and Dwayne's popular roommate -- in the long-running college comedy "A Different World" back in 1987.

Joining Darryl in front of the cameras included Kadeem Hardison as the nerdy and flirty guy with flip-up shades, Dwayne Wayne, Jasmine Guy as the spoiled art buyer who eventually marries Dwayne, Whitley and Charnele Brown as Whitley's roommate who cozies up to Ron, Kimberly.

Bell is also known for playing Big Brother X-Ray in the 1988 Spike Lee film "School Daze."

Bad news for Bryan Kohberger ... prosecutors in Idaho just got the green light to seek the death penalty if he's convicted of murder in his upcoming trial.

A judge ruled Thursday that capital punishment will be on the table if Kohberger is found guilty of murdering four University of Idaho students.

Kohberger's legal team was trying to have the death penalty ruled out ... citing his recent autism diagnosis ... but the judge ruled against him.

12:37 PM PT -- According to high school hoops insider Tarek Fattal, Alijah Arenas was placed into the induced coma due to smoke inhalation ... and did not suffer any broken bones.

12:26 PM PT -- Alijah's mom, Laura Govan, appeared to address the news in an Instagram post ... pleading with her 1.5 million followers to send wishes.

"I NEED ALL YOURE (sic) F***EN PRAYERS," Govan said minutes ago.

High school basketball phenom Alijah Arenas, the son of former NBA superstar Gilbert Arenas, was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries after crashing his Tesla Cybertruck early Thursday morning ... TMZ Sports has learned.

It's unclear what caused the wreck, but the luxury vehicle was completely mangled on the side of the road of a Los Angeles neighborhood based on images we have viewed.

We're told emergency responders raced to the scene at 4:55 AM -- after fire personnel responded to a "trapped patient" ... but when help arrived, everyone inside the vehicle had already made it out.
