Gene Hackman would make a lovely Ann Romney in a Hollywood movie about her life ... this according to Mitt Romney.

The Republican nominee and his wife appeared on "Live! with Kelly and Michael" this morning ... and endured a Rapid Fire line of questions ... one of which was, "Who would you pick to play each other in the movie?"

Mitt replied, "For me, my favorite actor is Gene Hackman ... so I'd like Gene Hackman."

Kelly Ripa quickly shot back, "You want Gene Hackman to play YOUR WIFE!?"

Mitt laughed ... and joked, "What was that movie he was in? The Birdcage?"

Don't worry, Mitt eventually corrected himself ... and picked a more appropriate star.

Seth MacFarlane says he's still making up his mind about doing a sequel to his smash hit "Ted" ... telling TMZ, "We're thinking about it."

Seth was hanging out in New York this weekend with his "Ted" co-writers Alec Sulkin and Wellesley Wild .... just a few days after NBCUniversal CEO Steve Burke proclaimed, “We’d like to see a 'Ted 2' as soon as we can.”

This is the man whose anti-Muslim movie -- "Innocence of Muslims" -- has triggered a wave of violence in parts of the Muslim world.

Nakoula, who lives in Cerritos, CA., got backing for the movie from hardcore anti-Islam organizations. The flick triggered violence in Egypt, Yemen, Tunisia, Morocco, Sudan, Iran, Iraq, Israel and the Palestinian territories.

Charlie Sheen and Lindsay Lohan are going to be in the new "Scary Movie" film ... and the guy who helped create the series says their scene together is going to be "a crack explosion."

Marlon Wayans, who co-wrote and starred in the first two "Scary" films, trashed the two most recent sequels last night ... which he did not have anything to do with. He said he would only watch the new one as part of a "bad movie night."

Director Nick Cassavetes tells TMZ, he isn't a politician ... he's an artist who makes movies -- and that's why his comments about brother-sister lovin' won't have a damned effect on his career.

As we previously reported, Nick recently spoke out in defense of ALL kinds of relationships while promoting his new film in Toronto this weekend -- gay, straight, incestuous, whatever -- saying, "Who gives a s**t if people judge you? I'm not saying this is an absolute but in a way, if you're not having kids -- who gives a damn?"

He continued, "If it’s your brother or sister it’s super-weird, but if you look at it, you’re not hurting anybody ... except every single person who freaks out because you’re in love with one another.”

He took a lot of flack for the comment ... but when we asked if he thought it would affect his career, Nick replied, "I make movies man. I'm not a politician. If people want to listen to me for theology, that's their problem. I'm about tolerance."

Blake Clark is an American hero ... not just because he starred in "The Waterboy" and "Boy Meets World" -- he's a military vet who served in Vietnam ... and knows first hand about the horrors of war.

Clark -- who's been in a TON of Adam Sandler flicks and also voiced Slinky the dog in "Toy Story 3" -- was at LAX this weekend when we started talking politics.

"I'm not a socialist," Clark told us ... "I killed socialists ... I was in Vietnam ... I was an infantry platoon leader."

Clark was involved in combat missions ... and says he did kill people during the war ... explaining, "That's what you do in combat ... you don't dart 'em and tag 'em and follow their migration ... you kill 'em."

Clark added, "I was a platoon leader ... so my job wasn't actually to shoot people, although I did. Mine was to command the platoon in combat, call in artillery and mortars and air strikes."

Gigi Levangie -- the best-selling novelist who also wrote the movie "Stepmom" -- says her life is in danger ... and the alleged threat is her kid's ex-basketball coach ... this according to docs obtained by TMZ.

Levangie -- the ex-wife of Hollywood mega-producer Brian Grazer -- recently filed a request for a restraining order against Anthony Jones ... claiming he's been stalking her for several months.

In the docs, Gigi admits things weren't always so crazy with Jones ... not only did he coach her kid, she also invested in his "small business" and even allowed him to live in her guesthouse for a few weeks back in April.

But according to Gigi, something went terribly wrong -- 'cause after he moved out, Jones began following Gigi to work ... harassing her at her home and maniacally calling her on the phone -- DOZENS of times AN HOUR. Gigi claims he once trapped her in her own driveway.

Gigi says the "frightening and erratic behavior" got so bad she was forced to hire a private security team to protect her family (she and Grazer have two sons, ages 13 and 9). Gigi claims she's afraid for the safety of herself and her kids.

She is asking the court to keep Jones 100 yards away from her and her children at all times. A hearing is set for September 12th.

Disgraced Penn State football coach Joe Paterno will forever be immortalized in a new movie ... and by a really good actor ... because the man who will bring his story to life, is reportedly Al Pacino.

The Academy-Award-winning actor attached himself to the new film -- based on the New York Times Bestselling book "Paterno," according to reports.

Lil Wayne claims Quincy Jones' son "dontgetit" when he used the song without permission -- and ironically Q used the song in a movie about Lil Wayne.

Lil Wayne has filed a lawsuit against Quincy Jones III, obtained by TMZ, claiming he never gave permission to use his music in the documentary about him -- "The Carter."

Among the songs used, hits like "Lollipop," "Stuntin' Like My Daddy," "Pussy Monster," "Let the Beat Build," "La La," "Mr. Carter," "A Milli," and "Dontgetit." All of the songs were from Lil's multi-platinum album, "Tha Carter III."

Lil Wayne claims Quincy III and the other producers never bothered to ask if they could use his tunes.

It appears Lil Wayne cooperated with the filming of the documentary, because he allowed cameras to follow him around.

As it turns out, Lil Wayne hated the movie and sued over it, claiming it was a "scandalous portrayal" of him.

There may still be some life left in Tony Soprano ... if he wasn't actually whacked in that diner ... at least according to "Sopranos" creator David Chase.

Chase was at an event in NYC last night, when we asked him if Tony, Carmela, Meadow and the rest of the gang will ever appear on the big screen ... even though the HBO series ended in 2007.

Chase replied, "I would never say there was never a chance ... but uh, nobody's working on it."

Nic Cage is a delinquent DVD renter no more -- he has settled his tab with a Los Angeles video store, TMZ has learned.

As TMZ first reported, Cage owed Old Bank DVD $224.48 in fees for two movies he never returned -- "A Star is Born" and "The King of Comedy."

The store took to Facebook in an effort to get Cage's attention and it worked (well, our story probably helped a lot too). The owner of the store tells TMZ Cage called this morning to apologize, blaming the snafu on his assistant.

The owner says Cage was cool and didn't take any offense to the store calling him out on Facebook. The store didn't make Cage fork over the full amount -- just $20 in late fees per movie, and another $20 each to keep it ... for a total of $80.

We swear we're not high ... but a car crashed into an East LA house last week that just happened to be the EXACT SAME HOUSE Cheech & Chong smashed up in a movie over 30 years ago. Far out, man!

In the 1980 classic "Cheech & Chong's Next Movie," the stoner duo crashes their sweet van onto the front lawn of a house ... and then drives through the fence on the way out.

Cut to last week when a Chevy HHR drove through the fence of the very same house. The homeowner tells us he wasn't home at the time of crash and is currently getting a repair estimate for the fence.

And get this ... the owner says he didn't even know he was living in the house from the movie until this accident happened.

We know Nicolas Cage has problems paying taxes ... but who knew he had issues returning movies ... so claims a video store that wants him to pay $224.48 in late fees for 2 DVDs.

The owner of Old Bank DVD in Downtown L.A. tells TMZ Nic rented the flicks back in April -- "A Star is Born" and "The King of Comedy."

Problem is, four months later -- they haven't been returned.

Old Bank has resorted to Facebook to get Cage's attention (they say they can't get a hold of him) posting ..."If anyone happens to run into Nicolas Cage wandering the neighborhood, please kindly remind him he's had [our DVD's] for a few months."

They hilariously add, "Old Bank DVD is not responsible if he gets mad, bursts into flames and beats you up though."

Tommy "Tiny" Lister -- best known as Deebo from "Friday" -- has agreed today to plead GUILTY in federal court for conspiring to commit mortgage fraud, which led to $3.8 MILLION in losses for unsuspecting lenders.

According to the plea agreement -- obtained by TMZ -- Lister admitted to a diabolical scheme in which he and several individuals conspired to obtain four different mortgages on homes in L.A. using false information and bogus bank statements.

Lister admitted he and his co-conspirators collected mortgages worth $5.7 million -- and defaulted on all four ... costing the lenders $2.6 million.

He also admitted to withdrawing over $1.1 million in loans using the properties as collateral ... which he never paid back. All-in-all Lister has admitted swindling banks out of $3.8 million.

Matthew McConaughey is usually known for flaunting his buff and topless torso, but it was his startling gaunt new look in NYC on Thursday that had everyone's jaws dropping.

The 42-year-old is drastically losing the pounds to play Ron Woodruff in the movie "The Dallas Buyer's Club," the true story of a man who contracted HIV through drug use in the '80s and has to smuggle life-saving medications from Mexico.

Lindsay Lohan insists ... she did NOT trash Elizabeth Taylor's priceless 1963 "Cleopatra" trailer during the filming of her new movie -- despite accusations from the trailer's owner.

The owner of the trailer -- a woman named Angel Alger -- purchased the lavish trailer for $50,000 in June and agreed to loan it to Lifetime producers during the filming of Lindsay's Elizabeth Taylor biopic "Liz & Dick" this summer.

The trailer was filled with priceless memorabilia from when Liz Taylor used the trailer herself -- while filming "Cleopatra" in 1963 -- but when it was returned to Alger after filming, she claims the thing was TRASHED.

According to Alger, the trailer was covered in cigarette burns, dishes and glasses were broken, and several priceless antiques were missing -- including an old European rocking chair and a French telephone.

Alger told CNN she estimates the damage to be around $100,000 -- and when asked who she thought was responsible ... Alger said Lindsay Lohan.

Alger admitted she had no proof to back her accusation -- explaining she jumped to the conclusion simply because she was told Lindsay and her friends had regular access to the trailer.

Now, Lindsay's rep Steve Honig is firing back, claiming, "Lindsay had nothing to do with it. It's an absurd story."

Alger says she wants the missing stuff returned, and hopes to repair the rest so she can put the trailer on display.
