Ethan Hawke I'm Cool With My Daughter Maya Getting All The Attention!

Published

Even though Ethan Hawke's been in Hollywood for more than four decades, his daughter Maya's getting all the attention these days ... which is totally fine by him!

The actor stopped by "Today" on Wednesday to talk about his recent Golden Globes nomination ... but the topic turned to his daughter's success -- thanks in no small part to her role as Robin Buckley in "Stranger Things."

"Today" cohost Craig Melvin played a clip from one of Maya's recent interviews -- she recalled an instance when she was walking with her dad and thought a fan wanted to talk to him ... but actually wanted to talk to her.

Ethan admitted the encounter wasn't a one-off -- turns out they'd been through the same kind of interaction multiple times before then!

He said seeing his daughter being recognized for her work was "one of the most incredible feelings" he'd ever experienced.

FYI ... Ethan shares 27-year-old Maya, as well as her brother, 23-year-old Levon, with his former wife Uma Thurman, who he was married to from 1998 to 2005.

There are plenty of folks out there who follow their parents into the family business ... the only difference is Ethan and Maya's work involves a lot more red carpets than most!

Justin Baldoni Blake Lively Set Me Up!!!

Published | Updated

Justin Baldoni claimed Blake Lively was setting him up "for a trap" during the filming of sex scenes in their film "It Ends With Us" ... according to private messages unveiled in new court documents.

The papers, obtained by TMZ, contain a correspondence Baldoni allegedly sent to his former agent Danny Greenberg, venting about working with Lively.

In the message, Baldoni complained he just had a "really really bad week," writing, "She had the audacity to email me directly and invite me to a meeting at her house alone if I chose."

Baldoni went on to allege Lively refused to use a body double for sex scenes, writing, "Sony and [producer Todd Black] have to jump in to make sure that happens because that's just setting me up for a trap."

'M3GAN' Universal, Script Writers Sued ... You Ripped Off My Film!!!

Published

"M3GAN" needs a good lawyer ... not to defend her murderous rampage, but to defend her creators from allegedly ripping off another movie.

Universal Pictures, Blumhouse Pictures, James Wan and screenwriter Akela Cooper have been sued by a man named Carl Watts -- a former airline pilot and amateur filmmaker -- who claims their movie bears numerous similarities to his movie "Paranormal Adoption," released in 2012.

According to Watts, both films feature a girl orphaned at a young age who develops a strong attachment to a doll that grows violent toward other people in the girl's life when they try to get in between the doll and the girl.

Watts also points to the sequel potential of both films -- leaving the possibility of more rampage open at the end of each film -- as another defining characteristic.

Filmmaker Bela Tarr Dies At 70 After A 'Serious Illness'

Published

Bela Tarr, a film director whose work was marked by long takes and oftentimes bleak imagery, has died at age 70.

The filmmaker's death was announced Tuesday by fellow filmmaker Bence Fliegauf -- who was speaking on behalf of Tarr's family -- on Hungary’s national news agency MTI, Deadline reports.

The European Film Academy wrote Tarr had died after battling "a long and serious illness."

Tarr was born in Pécs, Hungary, in 1955, and he later moved to Budapest. He began his career in film working at the Balázs Béla Stúdió, and he made his directorial debut at the age of 23 with the release of "Family Nest" in 1977.

He garnered further attention for his work on the 1988 feature "Damnation," and received international acclaim for directing the 1994 epic film "Sátántangó," which runs for nearly seven and a half hours.

Tarr's final feature film, "The Turin Horse," was released in 2011, and he subsequently established a film school in Sarajevo, Bosnia.

Despite the often bleak tone of the director's work, he personally saw comedy in his films, and he told The Guardian viewers could "laugh a lot" while watching his movies.

Tarr was 70.

Ashley Tisdale Puts Internet in Time-Out... Wrong Mom Group, Wrong Politics!!!

Published

Ashley Tisdale’s spicy "toxic mom group" exposé sent the internet into full spiral mode -- but TMZ has learned the wild theory that it involved certain celebs or had anything to do with politics is totally off-base... especially since Ashley isn’t even a Republican.

A rep for Ashley tells TMZ it’s unfortunate her "The Cut" essay -- meant to spotlight her experience with a toxic mom group -- is getting twisted into clickbait... adding there’s zero truth to what online "detectives" think they’ve cracked, especially since the piece wasn’t even about Mandy Moore, Hilary Duff or Meghan Trainor like they're assuming.

If that wasn't enough, folks jumped to the conclusion that Ashley’s fallout was tied to her being some hardcore MAGA type -- but her rep shuts that down hard, stressing to TMZ it’s completely false, especially since she’s a registered Democrat.
