Chris Cornell's family just got shut down by the City of Detroit, which refused to release information surrounding the singer's death, because the City claims it's still "an open investigation."

We've learned the family's lawyer, Kirk Pasich, sent a Freedom of Information request to the City asking for the police and toxicology reports. The City nixed the request, saying releasing the info would "compromise and/or interfere with their investigation."

The family says it's "mystified" the Medical Examiner announced to the world Chris' death was a suicide when the full autopsy hasn't been completed.

Chris' wife, Vicky, says the family still has several unanswered questions about what led to her husband's death and she thinks the toxicology reports will answer those questions. The intimation ... maybe Chris was so high on drugs he was not in his right mind and did not consciously try and kill himself.

Erin Moran died purely from complications of advanced cancer ... according to the Harrison County Coroner, whose final autopsy results confirmed what Erin's husband had said.

The coroner's report says, "no illegal narcotics were involved in her death" ... and she was stage 4.

Erin's huband, Steve Fleischmann, had written an open letter describing Erin's months-long battle with squamous cell carcinoma.

The "Happy Days" and "Joanie Loves Chachi" star died last month, at the age of 56.

Steve and Erin were together for 25 years. He says she died holding his hand.

Powers Boothe was suffering from pancreatic cancer, which led to him dying from cardiopulmonary arrest ... this according to the death certificate obtained by TMZ.

The "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." and "Sin City" actor died in his sleep at his L.A. home a little more than 2 weeks ago. According to the document the immediate cause was a fatal heart attack, but Powers was also quietly battling cancer for at least 6 months.

The family held a private service in Texas for him. Booth was inducted into the Texas Film Hall of Fame in 2009.

He was 68.

Paul O'Neill -- the founder of the Trans-Siberian Orchestra -- died from a combination of prescription drugs ... TMZ has learned.

TMZ obtained a copy of O'Neill's autopsy report, and it says he died of intoxication from a mix of methadone, codeine, diazepam (generic Valium) and doxylamine (an antihistamine).

According to the doc, the cause of death is intoxication ... but it also mentions other ailments O'Neill was battling ... such as mild heart disease, hypertension and moderate hardening of the arteries. The medical examiner determined the death to be accidental.

When O'Neill died last month, the band released a statement saying he'd died from a "chronic illness."

Paul was 61.

Michael Nance -- a contestant on season 8 of "The Bachelorette" -- was found dead early Monday morning in Texas.

According to the Austin PD ... the death is not suspicious, but the manner will be determined later by the medical examiner. Officers were called to a residence at 2:10 AM Monday to check on an unresponsive male. They say Nance was pronounced dead less than an hour later.

Michael competed for Emily Maynard back in 2012, before she eventually sent him home mid-season.

Michael was 31.

Gregg Allman was sidelined from performing for months before his death Saturday, and these are photos of his last stage performance 2 days before Halloween.

Gregg performed with Billy Gibbons at the Laid Back Festival in Atlanta on October 29, 2016. He then cancelled a series of concerts, telling his fans, "This is the hardest thing I've had to do in a long, long time. I've been on the road for 45 years because I live to play music with my friends and for my fans."

He went on, "It's time for me to take some real time off to heal."

Gregg died Saturday of liver cancer.

The hunter who got video of a black bear attacking him got his revenge ... he went back and killed the animal.

Richard Wesley tells TMZ ... if the bear attacked him it would surely attack others ... possibly his wife and kids, who also spend time at the family's campsite in ultra-rural Ontario.

His family is full of experienced hunters, and he says it's unusual for a black bear to attack a human.

Richard says the experience reminded him of "The Revenant." He walked away lucky ... a bruise on the elbow.

There's no cell service up in them there parts ... so he and Leo had that in common.

Chris Cornell's family, bandmates and famous friends gathered by the dozens to pay their respects as his ashes are laid in his final resting place ... the Hollywood Forever Cemetery.

The private event was attended by Brad Pitt, Pharrell, Dave Grohl, Lisa Marie Presley, Dave Navarro, Jimmy Page, Courtney Love, Gavin Rossdale, James Franco, Christian Bale, Josh Brolin, Billy Idol, Joe Walsh, Lars Ulrich, James Hetfield and many more.

The beloved singer was eulogized by Tom Morello, Pearl Jam's Jeff Ament and Matt Cameron, Linkin Park's Chester Bennington and Brad Delson, Soundgarden's Kim Thayil and Brolin.

Chris' wife, Vicky, was there, supported by loved ones through the ceremony.

Of course, the members of Cornell's bands, Audioslave and Soundgarden, were also there.

As we first reported ... Chris was cremated Tuesday.

Fans were allowed entry at Hollywood Forever later Friday afternoon.

Chris Cornell's final resting place is right next to another rock 'n' roll legend ... his dear friend, Johnny Ramone.

Chris' ashes were placed in a gravesite Friday ... just 12 feet away from the Ramones' lead guitarist's monument in Hollywood Forever Cemetery. Johnny and Chris were very close, and Chris even referred to his pal as "one of rock's most indestructible icons.

We're told Cornell's family just recently purchased the adjacent plot for around $120k. Hundreds of Chris' dear friends and family members flocked around the site, which only has flowers on it now.

Sources at Hollywood Forever tell us a monument, much like Johnny's but smaller, will eventually be placed there.

Chris Cornell's wife knew something was terribly wrong with her husband during their last conversation, and it brought her back 14 years to when Chris was abusing prescription meds.

We now know what Vicky told friends and family, and it's a chilling story. The following is what she told them.

Vicky says her last conversation with Chris came about 30 minutes before his body was found hanging in a Detroit hotel room. Vicky says just before Chris called her, the lights in their family home -- which Chris could control remotely from his phone -- began flickering on and off. When he called she asked him if he had just manipulated the lights and he said no -- that he did it an hour before.

Vicky immediately became suspicious because Chris was onstage an hour before. Things got more ominous as he began slurring, and every minute the slurring got worse. He was complaining about the show and his crew, saying, "They f***ed up again. They had 3 days to fix my in-ears and I was getting static. I couldn't hear."

He then started to complain, "I blew my voice. I blew my voice." He kept repeating it. And then he changed the subject to something that made no sense.

Vicky says she knew something was seriously wrong and said to Chris, "I need to know what you took tonight. You don't sound right, sweetheart." He replied, "I was really angry and I just took 2 Ativan. I'm really pissed and I had to calm myself down."

Vicky replied, "I need to know what you took. It doesn't sound like 2 Ativan. It sounds like you took something else. You need to tell me now what you took. I forgive you."

Vicky says at that point Chris' entire demeanor changed. He got aggressive -- not toward her -- but his tone was "cocky and aggressive." She says she immediately had a flashback to 14 years before, when Chris was abusing Oxycontin ... when it got so bad at one point he nearly died.

Chris then changed the subject and made no sense at all. Vicky panicked, hung up and called Chris' bodyguard, begging him to race over to his room and get inside, and she said if he had to knock the door down then so be it. She had never had someone check on him in 14 years, but she was afraid he would die.

She says the bodyguard knocked down the front door but couldn't knock down the second, so she used a second phone to call the hotel and plead with them to open the interior door. She was screaming, "He's having a heart attack."

Vicky was still on the phone with the bodyguard when he was able to knock down the second door and saw Chris' body hanging from an exercise band.

Vicky says it took around 30 minutes from the time she hung up with Chris to the time the bodyguard found Chris.

As we reported, sources connected with the investigation tell us EMTs and cops saw fresh track marks on Chris' arm. Vicky says she never knew Chris to use needles and says just before he left for Detroit that afternoon, he was walking the streets of New York with her in a t-shirt and there was no evidence of track marks on his body.

Rosario Dawson was hysterical when she called 911 after finding her cousin lying unresponsive on the floor.

The 911 call 2 weeks ago is gut-wrenching. Rosario screams, "Oh my God" as the dispatcher tries to assess the clearly dire nature of the situation at the house in Venice, CA.

It appears Rosario tried to resuscitate her 26-year-old cousin, Vaneza Ines Vasquez, and the paramedics transported her to the hospital ... to no avail.

As we reported ... Vaneza had been suffering from migraines and hypertension.

Chris Cornell had apparently taken more than Ativan before hanging himself, because we've learned he had fresh track marks on his arm when his body was discovered in a Detroit hotel room.

Sources connected to the investigation tell us ... the track marks were "obvious." The singer had a history of using drugs. The toxicology tests will reveal what drugs were found in Chris' system.

The new information is consistent with our story that Ted Keedick, Chris' longtime house engineer and tour manager, said Chris seemed "high" and "f***ed up" during the concert ... hours before his death.

Chris' wife has said her husband had told her he took "an extra Ativan or two."

'Clerks' star Lisa Spoonauer had been sick for years prior to her death last week ... still her family says her death was far from expected.

Sources close to Lisa's immediate family tell TMZ ... she'd been battling several chronic illnesses for 10 years prior to her death Saturday. The illnesses were not disclosed, but were described as degenerative.

We're told Lisa's family was aware of her ailments, but never suspected her condition was bad enough to kill her. Although she'd been in and out of hospitals for years, she died at home.

The coroner says Lisa died of natural causes, which her doctor signed off on -- a sure sign one of her many illnesses triggered the death.

"Clerks" writer and director, Kevin Smith, shared memories of casting her in the movie that changed his life. Lisa was 44.

Chris Cornell was messed up during his Detroit concert ... hours before he committed suicide -- this according to a longtime confidant who was present and working the event.

Ted Keedick, who worked with Chris for the last decade as his house engineer and tour manager, tells TMZ, "Chris was out of character from note 1 of the show. I've never heard or seen him that way before, at least if we did not cancel a show."

Keedick says Chris seemed "high" and "f***ed up," but not depressed. In fact, Keedick says during sound check Chris was in good spirits. It's consistent with what Chris' widow says of her phone conversations with Chris before and after the show.

Vicky Cornell says Chris told her he had taken "an extra Ativan or two" and she was so alarmed she called hotel security to check on him. Chris' own security guy discovered the singer had hanged himself in his bathroom.

Keedick says Chris was off during the entire show, saying, "I'd never heard his voice that way before. He was having serious control problems."

Keedick was positioned in the middle of the audience with his mixing board, and at one point during the concert he was so concerned he phoned someone backstage and asked what was wrong with Chris.

As we reported, Chris had struggled with drug abuse for years, but his wife says he was clean when he died. Based on Keedick's account, it appears he fell off the wagon before his last concert.

Chris Cornell was cremated Tuesday as a small group of family and friends stood by, but the rock icon's legion of fans will also get a chance to memorialize him ... TMZ has learned.

Sources connected to the ceremony ... tell us 4 people were at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery -- Chris' brother, Peter, his wife, Vicky ... as well as his friends Linda Ramone and singer J.D. King.

The group was there for about an hour, and they'll gather again Friday with other family members at the cemetery. The service will be private, and Chris' ashes will be buried -- and afterward, we're told fans will be allowed entry to visit the burial site.

Cemetery officials tell us they're ready for a huge crowd. Cornell joins legends like Mickey Rooney, Mel Blanc and Linda's late husband, Johnny Ramone ... already laid to rest at Hollywood Forever.

Lisa Spoonauer, who played Caitlin Bree in "Clerks," has died ... according to her family.

Lisa died Saturday at her home in New Jersey. Her family did not say what caused her death. According to law enforcement, cops responded to a 911 call to her house at 11:05 PM, but she was not breathing when officers and EMTs arrived. She was 44.

The iconic role in the cult classic film was the only one Lisa ever played -- she went on to become a restaurant manager and event planner -- but she made a major impact on "Clerks" writer and director Kevin Smith.

He posted a tribute to her, remembering the night he discovered her in a community college acting class -- "I approached Lisa cold in the parking lot after the class and said 'This is gonna sound creepy but... Do you wanna be in a movie?' Fearlessly, she replied 'Not if it's porn.'"

Smith added, "Thank you for dreaming my dream with me. You changed my life, Lisa."
