Tom Steyer wants to be the next Governor of California.

The billionaire businessman announced his intention to run in the Golden State's gubernatorial race, which will be decided next year, in a video posted on his X account Wednesday.

Steyer says he'll be focusing primarily on cost-of-living issues, and says politicians in Sacramento are "afraid" of changing the current system.

It's no secret President Donald Trump's comments are often abrasive ... and one of his newest jabs was just defended by a supporter in Congress.

FYI ... POTUS responded to reporter Catherine Lucey's question on Air Force One Friday -- "If there's nothing incriminating in the [Jeffrey Epstein] files, sir, why not act?" -- by pointing his finger at her and telling her "Quiet. Quiet, piggy."

47's remark has been widely criticized ... but predictably, he's still got support from some Republicans, including Florida Representative Maria Elvira Salazar, who defended his comment on Tuesday's episode of "The Lead," according to The Hill.

Salazar told host Jake Tapper ... "President Trump is a very picturesque and difficult and different type of politician. But I always say that I look at his policies and not at his personality."

2:50 PM PT -- Hours after the U.S. House of Representatives passed a bill to require the Dept. of Justice to release the Epstein Files, the Senate agreed to pass the same bill by unanimous consent -- to move the bill forward with no amendments to the House's version, according to the New York Times. This avoids a recorded vote in the Senate chamber.

Once the bill formally transfers from the House and is received by the Senate, it will automatically go to President Trump's desk. The transfer process generally takes several hours.

Bottom line, the bill could land on President Trump's desk tonight. Trump has said he will sign it.

We're one step closer to finding out who was dealing with Jeffrey Epstein ... the House just approved a bill demanding the Dept. of Justice release the Epstein Files.

The bill was put on the floor Tuesday for a full vote, and it passed by a 427-1 vote.

President Trump has done an about-face on the Epstein Files -- on Friday he said Republicans would be "soft and foolish" to vote for releasing the documents ... but he reversed course by Sunday night and said House Republicans should back the bill.

Donald Trump gave an ice-cold response when asked about the slaughter of Washington Post columnist Jamal Khashoggi Tuesday, sweeping it under the rug while seeming to imply that he just wasn't very popular.

As you know ... Khashoggi was famously murdered in a Saudi consulate in Turkey in 2018 by men who reportedly strangled him and sliced him up with a bone saw while he was still gasping for air. The CIA determined Saudi leader Prince Mohammed bin Salman was the one who ordered the grisly slaying.

The "Anaconda" rapper will reportedly join the U.S. Ambassador to the U.N., Mike Waltz, to deliver remarks Tuesday in New York City, spotlighting violence committed against Christians in Nigeria. Waltz complimented Nicki in a tweet Sunday, calling her a "principled individual who refuses to remain silent in the face of injustice."

Nicki tweeted her appreciation, writing in a post ... "Ambassador, I am so grateful to be entrusted with an opportunity of this magnitude. I do not take it for granted. It means more than you know."

Marjorie Taylor Greene's working relationship with President Donald Trump has hit a low point ... and she's saying his followers' actions could put her in serious danger.

The U.S. Representative from Georgia shared a tweet about her situation on Sunday and wrote POTUS' recent comments about her supposed lack of support for him have served as a "dog whistle" to his supporters ... some of whom have apparently been trying to antagonize her by sending unwanted pizza deliveries to her house.

And if the pizza deliveries weren't bad enough already -- Greene wrote her construction company's office building received what she described as a "pipe bomb threat."

Senator John Fetterman's recovering after his nasty fall ... sharing a picture of his face after needing stitches to sew up his wounds.

The Pennsylvania representative posted the selfie to X Saturday morning ... saying he's back at home with his wife, Gisele, and their children after being hospitalized and getting 20 stitches.

Trump posted another Truth Social message saying he's ordering U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi and the Department of Justice to investigate potential Epstein connections to "Bill Clinton, Larry Summers, Reid Hoffman, J.P. Morgan, Chase, and many other people and institutions."

He claims the ongoing Epstein scandal is a "Russia Scam, with all arrows pointing to the Democrats."

It looks like J.D. Vance is mulling over the possibility of sticking around in the White House a little while longer ... and he's planning to talk to President Donald Trump about it next year.

The vice president sat down for an interview with Sean Hannity that aired Thursday night and confirmed he's thought about the day when he'll sit down with 47 and talk about moving up a notch in the White House, reports the New York Post.

Vance said there is plenty to focus on at the moment, and he's going to wait until after next year's midterm elections to broach the topic.

The conversation turned toward Vance's working relationship with Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who's been viewed as a likely presidential candidate in 2028 -- and Vance said he isn't too worried about running against his current colleague.

Vance said he's grown pretty tight with Rubio, sharing common interests with him throughout his time in the White House.

The vice president credits Rubio as having been his "mentor" during his early days as a politician.
