Kate was headed into the Discovery Channel upfronts (industry speak for 'look what we have') last night for her upcoming shows "Twist of Kate" and "Kate Plus 8" -- where she said "typically you don't work with your ex-husbands." Typically.

Sooo, she's saying there's a chance?

War Machine -- Punished in Georgia

Published | Updated

War Machine -- the controversial MMA fighter turned porn star -- is in big trouble in Georgia, after he backed out of an upcoming brawl ... through his Twitter page.

Machine (yes, that's his legal name) was scheduled to get in the ring at Wild Bill's Fight Night in Duluth, GA tomorrow night ... but claims he came down with a staph infection that will prevent him from kicking ass.

The fight promoter tells TMZ that instead of dealing with his situation "professionally" -- returning calls, emails, etc -- Machine simply posted a message on his Twitter page stating that he was out of the fight.

Now, the Georgia State Athletic and Entertainment Commission is coming down on Machine -- suspending the fighter indefinitely for breach of contract.

War Machine gave us a full statement about the ordeal. Check it out after the jump.

'American Idol' Front-Runner Almost Quit

Published | Updated

TMZ has learned "American Idol" contestant Crystal Bowersox threw in the towel a little more than two weeks ago and was walking off the show, when Ryan Seacrest did some fast-talking and changed her mind.

It went down in a parking lot after an "A.I." show. In front of several people, Crystal told Ryan she couldn't handle the competition.... she said she hated the attention and said to Seacrest, "What's the point?"

Crystal said she was going back to Ohio to be with her family, whom she missed terribly.

Ryan told Crystal that being on "Idol" was like starting a business, and if she won she'd get a recording contract and become a millionaire.

Seacrest sealed the deal by telling her, "The greatest thing I ever did was make enough money so I could buy my mom a house. You can buy your mom a house."

Seacrest out ... Crystal, not out.

Larry King -- Shawn Fights Unfairly

Published | Updated

TMZ has learned Larry King will fight to regain title to his Beverly Hills mansion and two other homes, on grounds Shawn Southwick and her lawyers used undue influence to make him sign his rights away.

The Background: Several years ago Shawn accused Larry of having an affair with her sister, Shannon Engemann. Sources connected with Larry claim Shawn threatened to leak the story to the media, unless Larry signed a document, giving up his interest in their Beverly Hills estate, along with two other homes in Utah.

The Undue Influence: Sources say Larry took the document to his attorney, mega-divorce lawyer Dennis Wasser, who ordered him not to sign it. Larry, we're told, actually went to Shawn's lawyer, who referred him to a former partner -- and that attorney eventually gave Larry the green light to sign the agreement. We're told Wasser, who had no idea this went down, was furious.

The Plan: As we first reported, Larry will try to undo the agreement in divorce court. The alleged undue influence -- that Shawn bullied Larry into sitting down with a former partner of her lawyer, who told him it was okay to sign the agreement.

Larry King's Wife -- My Sis Kept Getting Gifts

Published | Updated

TMZ has learned what triggered a run to the courthouse between Shawn Southwick and Larry King was a discovery Shawn made -- a discovery she believes proves a continued relationship between Larry and her sister Shannon Engemann.

Sources tell us earlier this week, Shawn discovered evidence that Larry has continued to give Shannon expensive gifts -- very expensive gifts.

We're told Shawn was assured by Larry that the gifts had stopped -- but she found evidence to the contrary.

Our sources say Shawn is a "wreck."

As for her meeting today with attorney Robert Kaufman, we're told she has not hired him -- she is sticking with the lawyer who filed divorce papers on her behalf, Joe Mannis ... at least for now.

Stay tuned.

Cop in Roethlisberger Case -- I Quit

Published | Updated

The cop who first investigated Ben Roethlisberger for sexual assault has "resigned" in the wake of the release of a police report that shows he may have referred to the accuser as a "f*cking bitch" ... but TMZ has learned the cop didn't really have a choice.

We're told the Milledgeville Police officer -- Sergeant Jerry Blash -- turned in his resignation yesterday. He had been with the force for 8 years.

In the report, investigators claim that on the night of the alleged incident, Blash admitted that after he encountered the accuser, he may have made a comment similar to "this f*cking bitch is drunk" or "this bitch is drunk off her ass accusing Ben of assaulting her."

Investigators also report that on the night of the incident, Blash informed the accuser and her friends that "Roethlisberger has a lot of money" and if the women were to follow through with a police report, they "would be wasting their time."

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ Blash was given a lose-lose option -- resign...or be fired.

FYI -- Blash is the same guy who posed for photos with Ben hours before he was approached by the alleged victim outside the Capital City nightclub in Georgia.

Larry King's Wife: He Never Got Me That Necklace

Published | Updated

Sources directly connected with Larry King and Shawn Southwick tell TMZ Shawn believes Larry has been having an affair with her sister for 5 years ... and the cover was blown when Shawn checked his Visa statement.

One source intimately familiar with the situation tells us Larry bought wildly expensive gifts for Shannon Engemann, including a $160,000 car and "tons of gifts from Cartier." We're told Larry used his credit card to purchase many of the gifts. The credit card bills were paid by Larry's business manager.

We're told Shawn started looking at the statements, saw a Cartier diamond necklace, and then told a friend, "He never gave me a diamond necklace."

So began 5 years of never-ending drama. Friends tell TMZ there were numerous instances where the couple was fighting, sometimes physically. One friend recalls an incident outside of Nate 'n Al in Beverly Hills a year and a half ago where the couple was "punching each other."

As we first reported, several years ago Larry attempted to save their marriage by transferring 3 homes -- including the one in Beverly Hills -- into Shawn's name alone, to show his commitment to the marriage.

Friends tell TMZ Shawn went into a "deep depression" for a long time and literally wouldn't leave the house.

Ironically, in the last two weeks, friends felt things were "calming down" between Larry and Shawn.
